@remmidemmi01 They can use gas engines. They don't use electricity. They don't want wires coming into their house, so no phone either. Actually what ever their community allows them to use they can use. I worked construction with a bunch for a while and they will use power tools, they can't own them, but they can use them. Just like a cell phone, they always wanted to borrow mine.
@seancarm ...hmm... - but a cell phone doesn't need wires into a house - nevertheless not allowed? Mobile phone network is everywhere - in the houses of amish too! Furthermore I ve seen amish farmers in television that use electric milking machines!
But that is absurd! If they use engines to drive a baler, they can use a tractor just as well!?!
@remmidemmi01 My grandpa works with em' a lot and it's my understanding that if it involves electricity or take equipment for example, it has a STEERING WHEEL, it's against their religion.
@remmidemmi01 I agree with ya. But steering wheels are against they're religion. That's why they don't have tractors and crap. The guy in the pickup with the trailer is probly the buyer. And the skid steer is over a church group. The guy with the longest beard is the guy granted the right to have the Skid Steer. At least that's how it is in Alamosa/Monte Vista, Colorado.
Very strange, if they don't object to having the baler, accumulator, or donkey engine, then they might as well get the tractor as well and be done with it!
i would like to try this
