Saying that the M1 is better because of its combat sucess is irrelvant. This is because America is the only country that was involved in serious military conflict in the last 20-30 years, obviously it has a good combat sucess. This however does not make the tank better just because the USA has been involved in more conflicts. All tanks have up and downsides the M1 has a range problem because it runs a gas turbine wich is incredibly thirsty as opposed to a conventional diesel.

@realityright A2 abrams are doin aight. Depends what success means really. They're battle hardened, but a Challenger would fight one to a stand still. Similar armor, similar gun, design, cost, weight, speed, and they technically have a better survivability record.

@cockofdoody4ftw the chanllengers chapom armor is similar to the abrams but not made of the same materals. the abrams has depleted uranium incorporated into there armor in addition to the exsisting armor making it nearly imposable to destory. the abrams weights so much because of its super tough armor and it has the best tech in that money can buy. there are only 362 challenger tanks so there are fewer to destory that why its survieabily it good. i wish they would make a abrams drifting video :)

@hummerskickass Abrams. Challenger. Both use Chobham armor. Chobham was developed for challengers but due to some cuts and cash mistakes The abrams got it first. I was aware they had the same armor.. Guess not. And theres around 400 challenger tanks. Nowhere near the amount of abrams out, but i think they're both equal and good tanks. M1A3 will kick ass. Can't wait to see it

@cockofdoody4ftw Without any large scale combat action, no way you could say that any of the MBTs like the Leopard 2, Challenger, Leclerc, M1A2, or any other is better than another. People argue every way but I only go by the large combat success of the M1A2. Unless major combat erupts between countries which have these tanks, the argument is needless. Without taking into account combat record, the argument is a waste of time. Challenger and Leopard 2s have miniscule combat record.

what success does the M1 have in combat? Against third line enemys. You don´t need combat to scale the quality of a weapon there are tests and competitions exaple the Canadian Army Trophy (CAT) tank gunnery competition of NATO members were highly trained crews with latest tank technology get into competition the M1 only won ONCE against the Leo2 which won this competition 6times.

The Leo2 has a more powerfull gun(A6), better consuption, better mine protection etc.

It's very easy to drift with a tank as the weight per area is smaller than a car (due to the chains). Also it is very easy to get out of the drift again for the very same reasons (basically only one chain needs to get grip again and you feel a knock).

I would guess between 15 to 25feet looks like the guy filming this video was standing on the front glacis or looking out of the commanders hatch the barrel has a overhang of slightly more than 3feet (the Leo2 is 12+feet wide!) german Leo2 drivers were trained to move the tank in narrow environment, our driver trainer always wanted us to drive as close as possible to the side of the road, leave enough room for a postage stamp more is wasted space
