From 1975's "Win, Lose, Or Draw", longest studio track they recorded at 14.28. Blows Me Away EVERYTIME! Named after a park in Macon, GA where they played as kids
My Dad was the drummer for "Two Guns-Balls Out" another talented band in the 70's that was signed to Capricorn Records. Check out their music on youtube it is a sound of its own and considered a southern rock n roll classic!!!
This shows, among other things, the greatness of Dickie Betts..The Allman Bros. are still very good, and Derek Trucks is fantastic, however, they are missing Dickie Betts....
A little history.... This song has always appeared to be about the State Park outside Macon,GA;but don't quote me on it ,because I dont really know.Maybe D.Betts had an experience there at some time??? It is still one of my favorites from the Allman Bros. collections!!!
Dickey was no Duane, but he'll likely admit that to this day. He kept the band alive and is a very innovative and influential guitarist in his own right. If Dickey doesn't step up after Duane and Berry die, it's pretty much over.
what !!! did i see that right ? "hieronomy" says the tempo is too fast !! hahahahahahaha ! wow ! un-be-fuckin-lievable !!! just un-be-fuckin-lievable man !!!!! hahahahaha ! !!
@mottledbrain I agree. There is nothing in this world better than peaking on an eighth seeing this 15 mins of bliss live. Nothing! Oh and I'm a big head so that's saying a lot.
Thank you for posting this souflul tune. Using the words from a previous poster, it does put me in a musical trance. ......aaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!
I even had downloaded the version that was cut in half, as I really wanted it on my ipod. Now I can pass out listening to this, in a hammock, while a cool breeze floats thru the afternoon sun.
Musica Bellisima! Awesome! My favorite Allman Bros song- all 14 minutes of it. Thanks for Posting. After this listen to the Freddy Jones Band Daydream song (the extended version). You'll fall into a musical trance... Happy New Year 2011 from San Diego, California!
@markinlc I feel the same way about this song. I went to ck out 'In a Daydream', and I recognized it from years ago. Thnx for reintroducing me to an old 'friend'. For me that song is a happy, feel-good song, while the Allman Bros' one is one to lay down and just let the music take you in.
i love this one. i do allman brothers covers. along with skynyrd and many others. but this one is special to me. it takes me to the days when i'd ride a cow 1000 ltd at 160 mph on the highways. this song, the never ending highway, and a girl always waiting for me.
Nicely done, thank you...I'm not sure Skynyrd and Uriah Heep belonged in the video sequence but okay. Such a soothing and serene piece of musical history by Dickey Betts and The Brothers.

Another stunning instrumental by the allmans! Makes todays music sound inept.
The allmans are relativly unknown in britain, although 'jessica' was used as the theme to a very successful tv show about driving called top gear.

The Allmans get it absolutely right. The music flows, just like the water over a high falls.
