I've pre-ordered James Arena's book about "Fright Night" on Amazon; it will come out early next year! This is why I sometimes envy New Yorkers who grew up during the 1970's!
I used to always look forward to the intro on Saturday nights and then i would fall asleep by the middle of the movie. Dam,I miss those days when I used to sleep like a baby.
They had some darned good flicks on during this, back before 1983-85 It was actually the only place you could see these films, other than sitting in a car in a drive-in theatre on Rt 18 or Rt 1 or a couple of dive indoor joints during a saturday afternoon matinee
Fright Night (Channel 9), Chiller Theatre (Channel 11), and Creature Features. (Channel 5) in New York.........ohhhh, how I miss them. Why on earth can't the networks bring back scary flick series'?
Oh yeah, I'm gettin some major chills watching it now..and the plethora of horror movie commercials they used to show. It was during Fright Night back in 1979 or 80' that I think I first saw the commercials for the original "Dawn Of The Dead."
When it came to horror, the Tri-State area had the tickets for Friday and Saturday night, that's for sure. Great days man !
@witchman67 Another one I remember was when Lucio Fulci's "Zombie 2" had it's TV spots during Fright Night and sometimes, Chiller Theatre comercial breaks.
I was a few months short of being old enough to see it in NJ (due to the Unrated stamp in had on it) and I went over to PA to Easton at the old 25th Street cinema where it was normal R rating.
Can some1 please post/repost the Fright Night commercial bumpers, the WOR commercial blocks from 78-82, the WOR editorial blocks? And if any1 can find the intro 2 WORs "Spaced Out Films" that used 2 B on Saturday mornings after Doctor Who, please post that 2!!!

My favorite movie showcase of all time! Like having a drive-in movie in your home. The list of films I saw for the first time on FN is endless.
