Do not go there saying your going to do your best because your best will never be good enough for a Drill Sarge, YOu need to go there thinking you are are going to win, you not accept defeat, (you will fail at something, do not get dicouraged) Pull thruogh and Give it 150% They will not accept anything less.

@SuperboyXX0018 what you mean after your first contract ends? yes you re-enlist if you want to stay in or you just get out...that easy...if your going into the army for the first time active duty, i would say sign on for 2 years to start...i dont care how much you say you're gonna retire and you love the way it seems...trust me you may not like your job or you wanna get out...start with 2 years, then if you love it and wanna stay in the sign up for more!

A lot has changed since i went to basic at ft. jackson back in 1998. Of course ft. jackson is the one post where they test new training out. From the pics I could see a lot of familiar obstacles i used to do, but then i noticed they added what looked like CLS and combatives (hand to hand). They also got rid of the traditional foxholes at the range since no one digs foxholes anymore this day and age. On that note those soldiers had it easy. And no cameras were allowed when i was in.

lol okay guys the song is Vanilla ICE-ICE ICE BABY...just fit for some reason and for all of you watching this...this is what you will do at basic training...minus the few obstacle courses we did and honeslty i went to basic at 280 and i could accomplish everything...came out of basic 210 pounds! its all about how hard you push yourself. and when you get into blue phase you'll have the option to go running or do what you want at the end of the day! take advantage of doing PT it'll only help!

Went through Fort Jackson D 2/39 aka "Hollywood". That was probably the easiest Basic Training the Army has. We got "smoked" so little it wasn't even funny. The biggest issue was "family time," in which our platoon would go to our bay and spend an hour or so doing supermans and spidermans and shrimps and then fall in as the DS griped about something petty we had done. That's typical Army stuff. Basic training is a piece of cake. Just do your thing and listen to the DS.

@SoSoLucky13 Basic is fun, but can be stressful if you get a bunch of talkers in your platoon. You train on the M-16... if you are a combat MOS (i.e. 13B, 13F, or 68W), you will eventually be issued an M-4 upon reaching your unit station. M-4 is a much better weapon!

i didnt go to fort jackson i went to fort leonard wood missouri and its a lil different than this...but everybody has to do first aid..if you dont do it right the 1st time you have to stay back 3 weeks..and as for the gas chamber..c'mon im like the girliest female and i made it through that no worries..just dont run out because you will have to repeat it(: hope my advice was well enough

@figueroaomar2010 dont worry about the gas chamber, worry about falling out (getting so hot that u pass out) then ull have to repeat the whole basic training, also worry about the giant-ass needles, u have to get shots when u get there
