@dingdingdingdiiiiing Actually helicopters are safer to land when the engine fails than a plane because they can land anywhere, whereas a plane needs to glide to a safe runway. Helicopters can also glide after engine malfunction because of the inertia (or momentum) of the rotors. The trick is to decrease, or invert the pitch thus not loosing head speed and once the heli is near the ground flare out and increase pitch, eqauls a sfae landing, that all heli pilots can do.
@TtimWh /watch?v=O7UwLWgtsE0 and /watch?v=I1ftIZaQ1ZM kind of respectfully disagree... the speed nor the altitude are great, but the damage is quite apparent, passengers aren't harmed obviously, but I'm pretty sure if they were traveling at 150mph at 300 feet, they wouldn't stand much of a chance now would they? I doubt rotor would have enough momentum to crash them down under 20G's.
@dingdingdingdiiiiing LOL, I was about to agree with you and say that auto rotations dont work 100% (obviuosly) and that I never meant that heli's are totally safe. But then I watched the two videos and both of them dont proove anything, I mean come on, in the first vid the u cant even see the crash because its behind trees, and in the second one u cant see anything because its taken onboard and the impact doesnt even seem all that great...keep reading below
@dingdingdingdiiiiing I realy dont care wat u think about heli's, Im just trying to make a point that with a skilled pilot, a heli doesnt just fall oput of the sky like a rock if the engine fails. Heres proof: /watch?v=E2a9H8Xw8Mo and /watch?v=4JqmoWAhv5g I know this isnt always the case, but its still worth knowing. And if u still dont believe me then buy ur own rc heli and try it urself...or stfu
I would like to know what the fuck is going on. Ever time and there has been dozens of i keep on down loading ADOBE FLASHER 10 and I always keep getting FUCKALL. I'm so sick and tired of down loading over&over they can stick it up there GODDAME FUCKING ASSHOLES. If there is someone out there that can tell me what I'm doing wrong please get back to me. My name is Robert and you can call me at fudpuckerallrightleis@gmail.com
The "Pretty Neat Guy" was so uninterested. What he really wanted to say was "You stupid son of a bitch this is what you made my old ass come all the way up here for?"
@DynamoDylan I suppose falling from 3000ft is better than 10000ft? Id prefer to fall from 10000ft, gives you enough time to wipe, before you hit the ground.
It looks like the blades are fixed pitch. If so is there some way to recover in case of engine failure? Especially since autorotation would be out of the question.
Yeah, 60 minutes. Our country was pilfered, we're bankrupt and entering the Great Depression and no one has gone to jail, but honey come see this funny lookin flying machine.
wow they did it somebody actually invented a flying machian for one person and its a good thing they didn't make it peddle power, because I would have gotten tired, ooooo I want an airscooter.
I know a awesome safey Device, a Freakn parachute switch on it, so if the engine fails, it just deploy's a parchute ontop of the model and you will go go down safely, act fast though . :)
Good for places with no roads, but 55mph for 2 hours, is equivalent to driving on a road, so what's the advantage? Despite, what they say, flying it will require skills beyond driving a car, and an engine breakdown results in a crash.
or find a thermal and climb,i have done that to the bottom of the clouds. but just to let people know that a paraglider/motor wing is stallable and collapsable.(done them too) also i have seen a paramotor stall and dump the pilot to the ground from about 60 feet, pilot survived with crushed vertibrae
although if 1 rotor would stop working you would be into serious problems unless the other rotor shuts off to prevent torque although then you would go down unless maybe putting a parachute inside the cylinder of the rotors that can be ejected.

I wouldn't fly it if it didn't have auto destruct rotor if engine stops and auto eject pilot seat with an parachute after the rotor destructed.

@TtimWh if the engine or whatever part of rotor mechanism fails, the helicopter will not glide, but fall like a rock. Please look up gravity.

This is the first time I've seen this concept on a full size helicopter. The modeles are so incredibly stable, it's really cool to see it in reality.

Rule #1: do NOT wave hi to anyone while rotors are in motion. Ever.
iJul1609 2 years ago 37
It seems parachutes are not an option since you would get copped to bits.

Rule #2: do NOT get angry with someone while the rotors are on, especially when you're flying 1000 feet high.

I think I'd just prefer a paramotor where if the motor fails your parachute is already deployed and you just float back down.

What happen if engine fails? Is autorotation feature being affected by the short and double main rotor?

that and what about a strong tail wind? or low g? Or ground resonance?

JUKIO01 3 years ago 17
Oh I see , like the Black Shark Attack Helicopter, I was wondering if you could makea very fast helicopter with that type of system
DerVampyrEngel 3 years ago
So how does it work without a tail rotor if you are not using tipjets? still a very cool helicopter
DerVampyrEngel 3 years ago
it uses a two rotors. they cancel out the torque by spinning in opposite directions.
HeliAddict123 3 years ago 3
contrarotating (or however you spell it) very stable little helis
beardeddragster 3 years ago
although if 1 rotor would stop working you would be into serious problems unless the other rotor shuts off to prevent torque although then you would go down unless maybe putting a parachute inside the cylinder of the rotors that can be ejected.
