Dude, this camera is using light amplification technology. The initial explosion is going to release a lot of light when using a lens like this. That bright flash is a side effect. Anyone who has described a nuke has described it as "turning the night into day"

A nuclear explosion would leave a longer residual effect, would blind everyone in the area and would most likely disable the camera due to the EMP effect.

Keep in mind too, that the camera is metering and adjusting to low light conditions at night. Any bright flash is going to be over emphasized before the camera adjusts.
