@Aspergianstar2009 Hey steve. i've found a really good vid of a regeneration effect using After Effects. i'll send you the link in a PM...it's really good! i don't know how he made it. some plugin i imagine.
I love the myst effect on the particles it is better than mine looks a bit too feathered and yours has more of a glow to it. Form would work so create a mask around your hand now make it a bit larger than your hand now use that mask to allow you to apply form set it so that the alpha layer is the hand the mask layer and the disperse is that layer as well. Map XY. I will go into this more later but that will allow you to dictate what happens
Joe work with key frames they are your friend. Firstly create your key frame with the light moving in to your face. Now delete the key frame at the start. What that will do is a split second put the light on your face so you will not see it moving towards your face. Go down to your bottom sendings put a watch on intensity gradually increase it until it gets very high on the particle layer. Shine is what I used for the flame effect with cc light rays really intensified :) Well done
@JoeAndTeddy not having a go considering you just started you are doing ace. Also you should have seen my first one it looked like I had drawn the regeneration on in pen. Yours at least is close. The glow is great just need to key that in so it appears straight away
@lifestoshorttowaste Fair point! Not every regeneration is the same so I'll take back some of my criticism, just the nit picky bits like the black borders.
Looks great! I think the only concerns are how your arms act (which you have explained due to the small FOV). I'd say if you could make the particles more thinner and wavy, like the Tennant regeneration, with the hands (noticeably the left) to flow in the direction of where the hand points. Finally, I'd zoom in slightly in the edit to hide the black line that is shown at the sides from shaking. Overall, it's great so well done!
@multimaxstudios Hi, yeah something happened on the hands which i didnt intend to happen. i think i must have clicked something before i rendered because there were more particles on the right side and less on the left side. thanks for the advice!
Annette and I both agree that its nice to see young people actually putting in an effort on youtube. Better than some adults I can mention LOL. Some people just post endless videos of them playing games which takes no skill. Ok playing the game probably does. Loving these effects I did not use light ray on mine but now I will he he. See we learn from each other I love that glow effect
Ace job I knew you would work it out. I am not being funny and will give you help but its ace when you do it yourself and realise the effort has all come to fruition. You picked it up fast :) I love the shine on the particles and it looks ace
@Aspergianstar2009 Hi Steve, thanks for the kind words. This was my first proper attempt at a regeneration in AAE. and it turned out better than i expected. This actually didnt take too long. (about 45 mins)
if i make another one but spend more time, it would probably turn out better.
Looking good, could do with some improvements though. Also maybe stretch your arms out a bit more, like the original scene, they look a bit awkward tucked by your sides. Can't wait to see more SFX videos!
@SamLFilms Thanks. however, this was just a test testing out particles. I have practiced more with AAE now and have made a more realistic looking effect (which will be used in a future regeneration video)
The reason why my arms weren't outstretched is simply because the webcams FOV is very small. my next scene will have acting etc...like i said this was just a test.
Let me know if you nail the wispy effect from 9th into 10th. I am looking to do that

Sorcery is a big time sin. Read the Old Testament to get an idea on what happened to people who messed with magic.
