glad to born in the late 90's

  • luv dis train ma fav

  • what class was that DMU again

  • Class 115 - Albion engines

  • I'm from Harrow - and surprised to learn that the fast Chesham didn't stop. The Met line was part of my growing-up:THE way to either London or the countryside but the only time I commuted daily was early to mid 80s to Kings X. My usual train home was a fast Uxbridge but I'm sure I got Amershams occasionally. No Cheshams though, I s#pose. Anyway, great vid, ta.

  • I'm From Harrow too. Fast Uxbridge????

  • Yup. back in the early 80s there were rush-hour fast Uxbridge and Watford trains

  • I hope to be a Train Driver eventually to

  • I hope to become a train driver eventually. I love em!!

  • Check out District Dave's website (easy to find) - its by a train driver and is full of wonder and win. My mum was an LU train driver (one of the first women - she started on the Central but later transferred to the District) who retired a few years ago - and she rates this site as the best of its kind she's seen .

  • aww thanx 4 that! :-)

  • Classic footage indeed ! great stuff & thank you for posting :^)

    P.

  • You are welcome!

    Simon

  • yes.

AFAIK all the through Chesham (from central London) trains are 8 car - unlike the Chalfont & Latimer shuttles which are just 4 car.

ha! I say 'all' but that actually means 2 each peak hour Mon-Fri only.

btw, whilst on the Chesham branch the 4 car shuttles 'rest' in the bay platform at Chalfont.

  • was that Chesham train 8 car?

  • Yes.

I've always wondered why the Chalfont to Chesham shuttle is only 4 car.

Is it because of a short platform at Chesham, and if so, would any remaining passengers in the rear half of an 8 car Central London to Chesham peak hour service have to get off at Chalfont and move to the front half?

    I'm intrigued to know.

  • Its because of the short bay platform at Chalfont and Latimer. The platform at Chesham is perfectly able to take a full 8 car train

  • yet again brings back the memories and to hear the sound ofthe "clapped out" 115s? or was something else?

  • Classic footage mate. Always wanted to see more of LU and that in the 90s.
