  • I love ist how he interprets the songs.

  • Pretty good singer and the mentally ill in a communist one:)

  • i thought this song was original played by the cats from holland haha

  • @snakie068

    No.

Cats just covered the original by the song's writer Kevin Johnson.

    Johnson still sings it best.

  • RIP

  • Ein sehr schöner Song. Ich leibe dieses Lied :-) Danke fürs Einstellen!

  • Danke Dean!!!

  • Ein Mann mit Herz!!!

  • @Sumpfe711 Er war ein politischer Narr, aber er war auch ein guter Sänger und netter Kerl.

  • A Brilliant Song and Video love Shirlsxx

  • Lucky, americans? Just because they have a fake democracia, where the economic power really matters to win the ellections? Where midia and everything that have some impact are control by a oligarchie? A place where people just play as cheap actors in virtual elections? C´mon, it´s time to see the things in a critical way. If URSS doesn´t have real a demcoracia, the USA are far away distance too, either nowadays.

Put some realism in your comments. Cause, what we really need is a real democracy!

  • I loved all his songs and the way of his singing is heartbreaking. He was enormously popular in Soviet Union. He was great!

  • great song and dean reed is one of my idols

  • A great singer - victim of the communist propaganda. I'm very sorry for him. Many americans do not realise how lucky they are!!!

    They take Liberty for granted!

  • Not at all, they revel in it .. there is a huge difference!

  • Lucky? within that race mixing "melting pot"????? With all these jeffs, nignogs and white thrash???? Man, US are the world's arse.

  • Race mixing rules. Black/Asian dudes are hella sexy

  • A great Kevin Johnson song,

brought all the old Chuck Berry's 38s and all.

O dear the young soviet isn't aware singles were 78s and albums were 33&1/3 Still great to see it geting another go round.

  • Hard to believe this bloke is Russian! Sounds bloody good!

  • He wasn't. He was American, born in Lakewood, Colorado. Through a strange series of events, he went from being a bit player in Hollywood movies to the Elvis of the Communist Bloc. He spent his last years in East Germany but never renounced his US citizenship. Read his bio on Wikipedia for full info.

  • The "Elvis of the communist block"? That's a bit misleading. Sure, it was reported he was a hotter record seller both in South America and behind the Iron Curtain than Elvis Presley in the early 60s, but he was not the only one. So they're are about 50 others who can also make that claim.

In reality, Presley is the biggest singer the world has ever seen. Many try and claim to be the Elvis of this, or the Elvis of that, but it isn't so.

  • Not really, Reed actually beat out Elvis in youth poll in Chile in early 60s but after that it was the Beatles all the way.

And Dean Reed beat out absolutely everyone foreign in the whole Soviet Bloc all through the 1970s and into the early 1980s. Only when he got finally got older -- early 40s at that -- and cassettes brought in other groups was he dethroned. It's doubtful anyone will ever be that popular again in that part of the planet.

  • shite on wikipediajewtube and all that yankee crap

  • @huppypuppy

he's actually an American who became a communist and defected to East Germany

  • I loved this Song. Dean was my first favourite singer.

    It had a wonderful voice.

  • great sing, great singer

  • Dean Reed rocks, literally. He should have been popular in America, too. He's a great singer.

  • Kevin Johnson sings it better

  • Right.

    Kevin Johnson also wrote it.

He had the soul to sing it.
