Someone did a research project with something like this where each pixel was replaced by a tiny buzzer and the whole lot was mounted in a garment so the array of buzzers was on back of the person about 1ft square against skin. With training a blind person could "see" with it (in low res of course).
LOL. I have an arduino too, and that's very cool! I understand the complications of degrading an image to an 8x8 pixel screen, and I still think it's cool. Good job!
you should have labled it "Arduino XLDTV" i think thats pretty self-explanitory!

Arduino + Ubuntu nice trendy open source setup going. On the real, make the arduino play the video from an SD card for added kicks.

you should try a cartoon like the simpsons where theres more generic colors and more easily distinguishable

needs more resolution :-)
would be killer if you used 512 or more RGB leds, as you could then view at least some details.

you should have shown the actual video for comparison.

how much more difficult would the coding be, if you hooked it up to a GLCD?? just curious, i really like what you did. thanks for the input. -Joe

I bet aalib could be handy for this.. :)

Any chance of a slightly higher-def version? Would be cool to see Arduino pushing out some good graphics!
Good work :)

Awesome! You sould have the daily show running on your computer with a LED sort of layer over it, maybe then we could understand it a little more.

you had better be using HDMI cable!

Forget 1080P, 8P is where it's at baby! I'd love to hear more about the shift registers/driver and serial protocol you developed/used?

you should comp the actual show and sync it up on one side of the screen. Aeeing them side by side on screen would be cool.

That's awesome!
It reminds me of AALib.

RogerOnTheRight 3 years ago
Wait, you mean it _isn't_ low def?
mpesce 3 years ago
Just a couple more to high def, are you using a matrix driver, i can't find any?

i didnt get what is the 8x8 led screen based on that makes it change. please explain?

Given the drive toward high-definition, it seemed perfectly reasonable. ;-)
