I was looking for information to help me with pulling together my research related to Australian Colonial History, into something meaningful. I found your video. The advice from Prof Macfarlane is excellent and enlightening. I drew from it a great deal of encouragement. Thank you!
Hi, could someone please tell me the name of the Historian Macfarlane cites, who wrote standing up? He cites him at 28:30. I'd love to read this Historian's prose!! Thanks!
What a nice video. I am a doctoral student in healthcare administration working hard on my dissertation. Sometimes I get caught up in the project and leave out the thinking part..this has helped me get back on track for the actual purpose, rather than the retoric ..
I'm a Danish student who's about to write my bachelor's thesis on sociology, and I found your lectures on youtube to be very helpful to my understanding of the individual thinkers, but also their interconnectedness and impact on the societies of today.
I think it's great to be able to learn via means other than your standard textbook, since it can be tiresome to constantly work with the same medium. The videos make the whole process more varied and, as a consequence, fun!
Thank you Alan! I appreciate your advice to start with the premise of "what do I like?" What topic(s) or issues or ideas do I think/talk non-stop about? 150+ pages fills fast and even research holes can be worthwhile when passionate about a topic. I also like your comments on gaining confidence. Cheers! Dena Rosko
Thank you so much for this. I am doing a PhD in Education and it is really giving me a hard time on many levels. This video helps to put me back on track.
I really like the way he describes and breaks down the advice he is giving into simple small chunks, (starting a fire). Wish I had his help with my dissertation
Thank you for putting this up. I've actually been thinking about this topic recently. I still have a bit of a way to go, however it doesn't hurt to get started early.
after 10 minutes I couldn't help myself. I just had to start writing! Fucking awesome video

The volume of the expert is too low. The interviewer is good. Can you correct this? Then it would be useful.

im guessing the interviewer is too close to the micophone and he is not.
