  • All your vids are kickin' brother!!! What mod's do I need to get a 80's Randy Rhoads/Doug Aldrich type of sound? I'm thinking of trading my JCM 900 Hi Gain Dual Reverb (still awaiting delivery) for a 1979 JMP exactly like Doug's favorite amp he bought in '81. Can I mod the 900 to sound anywhere near this '79 JMP 1959? I know where I can get a nice used 1959JMP Super Lead (small Marshall logo) dunno year? for $1,500.00 is that a pretty good deal? Many thanks

  • Hey man, that tone is absolutely killer! What are you recording with? I know you're using a Shure SM57, but what programme are you recording into? Cheers

  • awesome vid man,so crispy and clean i wish i could play like that!

  • Damn Dude! ya sure got that GNR thing DOWN.....nailed all the subtle nuances that 99.99% of the youtards miss on here......nice job. luv to hear that #39 doin some Lynch/Under Lock and Key (since they are rumored to be the same amp resp for both AFD and ULAK!)......

  • Sorry... is it the master volume version?

  • Hey puromojo is that jmp a 50 or a 100 watt? By the way amazing playing and tone!

  • I BEG U UYI SETTING PLZ

  • Salut ! Joli travail, en effet c'est vraiment le son de Slash, je suis impressioné ! :O Je voudrais juste savoirs, ta guitare, c'est une Gibson Slash AFD ?

    Merci ! @+ ;)

  • I am really interested, Can you mod any type of marshall or does it have to be certain ones? im asking because i own a Marshall mg100fx solid state half stack and i want to get a sound like the new AFD100, i was just wondering if this was possible?

    Thanks :)

  • Slash would be very proud!

  • i have a question, what value caps did you use for the treble peaking circuit on the volume pot for the preamp? 470pF? 500pF? 2200pF? im just curious because right now im using a 2200pF cap on my JVM which is modified like the #34

  • @thuglyfe91332 Just like #34 too ;)

  • @PuroMojo do you recommend the paradise vintage v100 or just the stock one and some tasty slash pickups >? and what guitar is that behind you it looks like a v100 iced tea or honeyburst but still please please please could you tell me i should have saved up enough money by january !! love your videos and you truly are amazing on that guitar !

  • @TheGutiargod I never played the Vintage Paradise, so I can say anything about it.

The guitar behind me, cherry sunburst, is my 1992 Gibson Les Paul standard.

    Thanks

  • @TheGutiargod i recomend the vintage v100afd paradise, and scrap all the electronics, cause to be honest its crap, put in cts pots, orange drop caps, and slash pickups

  • This definitely sounds closer to the AFD sound then the marshall signature does..at least to my ears anyway.

  • My Mods? I use a Rocktron Pirahna Preamp To nail any Stock or Modded Marshall tone you can Imagine!

  • you are amazing man!!!

  • Woooow it's reaally really awsome!!! Colud you send me the moded schematic, please?!

    Thanks a lot!

  • That is THE tone!!!

  • Nice Skills Dude!!!!

  • Where do you get these many HEADS !!!!

  • @RocketQueenBand201 They are not all mine. This amp is from a client I modded it.. Send me a PM if you're interested. Thanks

  • I had an AFD and it was a great amp, but my silver jubilee was still leaps and bounds in both sound and versatility above it...couldn't justify keeping both so the AFD had to go.

This amp on the other hand is insane, i'd definitely love one of these...great job dude, Marshall could learn a thing or two from you! I wish they'd reach out to some of the modders like yourself, these are the sounds we're really looking for in recreating vintage/modded/classic amps!

  • I need new pants.....

  • what value caps do you use on the screens for the #34? or are you not at liberty to say?

  • @thuglyfe91332 Stock! 50uF + 50 UF

  • Which is the song on 9:00 ? so nice :) @PuroMojo

  • @AFreezerKx Slash ft myles kennedey - Starlight

    its on slashs solo album

  • This is FUCKING PERFECT!

  • Wow!!! Awesome tone, love all your vids. Aloha from Hawaii...\m/"**"\m/

  • rocket queen sounds so fucking amazing the afd100 doesnt hold a candle to this

  • @slimyesli Finally you like my mod ; )

  • @PuroMojo haha yeah its not just like i LOVE it . This time you nailed it i cant imagine it getting better and is there a way i could get this mod for myself? how much?

  • @PuroMojo you were subconsciously working harder to satisfy me!

  • @slimyesli ....ahhh no... to myself actually ; ) LOL!

  • Crispy !!! Nom nom nom

  • Se voce algum dia for vender as suas guitarras me chame =P

If you're goin' to sell your gear someday, call me =P

  • technically speaking Frank Levi didn't create #36's modd, he just replicated #39 and added a few extra tweeks.

  • @fon267 I had the change to read your message before it was removed. Good luck with your new SLP amp. Even if I like my AFD100 it's far from being the greatest Marshall. This JMP from this video is light years better than the new / sig amp.

  • @PuroMojo I had to erase my post because I was selling the afd. Now its sold so no problems. I know what you say its not a bad amp but jst lacks the balls, there is no way you can go wrong with a SLP or JMP. By the way what would you suggest as the best way to achieve GNR tones with a SLP without moding it?

    Cheers

  • this harsh sound feels like whiskey going down the throat!

    Nasty sound :)

you should be selling that amps!

  • Do you like Slash's afd100 new amp? I had one and hated it. It sounded too thin!

  • @claudiodelcioppo I like it, but it's not like a old tube amp. In theory it's a "Marshall amp", but in practice it sounds very smooth and polite, like a modeler on tubes. and it sterile. No warmth of an old tubes marshalll

  • @PuroMojo

I found that I didn't get enough bass on it..even when I turned it up all the way. I traded it in for an ornage rockerverb because of the clean channel.

  • are you using cl80's here?

  • @Puromojo Thanks

  • I bet this was played on "11" : )

  • @golfrick007 Not really, if you see my other #34 demo video comparison, at the end of the video I cranked the amp all on 10... there you can see how it sounds over the edge EVH tone!!! ;)

  • How do you learn to mod amps?

  • @CreeplessOfficial Like everything you may be passionate about. Reading everywhere you can, internet, books, asking people that know about it. I still don't know much, but a good way to start learning about amp is Metroamp Forum. There's where I've started, and almost everything I learn came from people there!

  • Is it hard to ge the November rain and Don´t cry solo tone ?? I would really like to hear you play them please =) )

  • such an awesome tone but your ears are probably exploding

  • @uriel866 Not that much, but it was loud \m/

  • hey what speakers are in this cabinet and what cab is it? nice sound

  • @multimudslinger I have to 2 different speakers set in X. 2 Celestion v30s and 2 Celestion CL80s. The mike is in front of the CL80

  • @PuroMojo your hardcore, that set up is awesome. So what does the mod do specificlly to the sound, boost the gain?? Thanks

  • @multimudslinger #34 has same 2203 stages that are revoiced. #36 is also revoiced differently and it has a added gain stage, like Caswell Mod #39. You can say that these mods give some boost to amp circuit, 'cause all of them increase substantially amp gain.

  • It sounds really really sweet mate. It would be cool if you did some covers of some songs(or part of songs) with drums, bass and everything to hear how it sounds with a band too! :)

  • @marcusmarkmus Hey, I appreciate your message. This is a sweet amp. I've already started to record a cover with it... famous AFD GnR song... but by now I'll keep the secret.... I'll also do a UYI cover with mod #34 ;)

  • @PuroMojo Awesome, looking forward to that! :)

  • really nice puro, you cracked the code :) could you so us a favour? please post a video trying to get the sounds as close as possible to this, using the AFD100, that would be really cool, thank you and rock on ;)

  • sell it me!!

  • You got every bit of that 10 minutes and then some! Nice

  • Great sound thru all, mode #34 i like, good rhythm sound #36. great practice gnr trax, thanks ! :) Thomas

  • ive tried the afd 100 in a local musicstore today and i have to say the #34 on the jmp sounds waaaay better than the mode on the real afd 100.

its a pretty bad ass amp but i think if i'd the choice i would buy the jmp first and after that the afd 100 :P

you are a pretty bad ass player by the way rock on puromojo ;)

  • @Aoloso Yes!!! Rock ON dude!!!!

  • @PuroMojo ;) has the modded jmp a good pick/attack dynamic ?

and would you prefer the jmp or the jcm 800 modded ?

i've a dsl 100 at home and i think i will buy one of these in future ;)

  • @Aoloso I can't say works better on JMP or JCM. I'd say that these mods surely sound better on a 100w Marshall (1959 or 2203) than on a 50w one (like my 2204).

  • @PuroMojo oh okay thanks ;)

and could it be the jcm mod sound a little bit fuzzyier than on the jmp ?

  • Do the sweet child o mine solo with this tone please

  • bro i think your a bit obsessed with finding slashs tone

  • Amazing tone!

  • Now man, thats is pure and perfect SLASHTONE right there!!!congratulations!!!!

  • Awesome tone!
