Bij de vuurwerkramp in Enschede zijn indertijd niet alleen rotjes en voetzoekers in de lucht gevlogen, maar ook militaire explosieven. Twee militaire experts, die kort na de explosie op het rampterrein arriveerden, hebben in de ravage ontstekingsmechanismen zien liggen (vermoedelijk van landmijnen) en dat ook hun superieuren gerapporteerd. Ze werden prompt weggestuurd met de instructie om over hun vondst te zwijgen. In de weken na de ramp zijn ze diverse malen anoniem met de dood bedreigd.

My husband (American - US Army) hadn't seen all this, tho he was living in Germany at the time and had seen it on the news. He was shocked to see this and that it was such a big explosion. He has been in combat, he said it sounded just like being attacked by insurgents...

I'm Dutch andI was 19 when this happened. We had friends that lived in Enschede. I can remember crying when I saw the footage. I tried to reach them the following day, and luckily they were not affected by it, though it was a big shock to them. A lot to deal with.

I cried again when I saw it today. It was just horrifying to see this on Television, and it is again today. All those poor people.
