  • I actually had pretty much the same problem with mine, cant find gaskets or anything else for it anymore. Went and picked up a brand new 6.5 hp engine and it mounted right up and the thing flys. :)

  • @mac00gt What kind of 6.5HP did ya get? Was the ones from Harbor Freight? Those Honda Clones? Thanks for ya post. I got this one fixed and its actually really fast with out to governor in place. I need to make a new video, this one is 2 years old now.

  • @Dillon1791 You got it. That's the exact one I was able to get. I plan on trying to rebuild the 6hp Tecumseh for another kart I have... The other kart only has a 5hp Tecumseh on it, so we'll see how this goes. I may end up putting a new engine on it as well, we'll see. What did you have to do to get that engine running right? I completely cleaned the carb numerous times, the whole fuel system, new plug, new hoses etc.

  • @mac00gt I had the replace the carbs in-erds and a good rebuild. Believe it or not, my issue was the gas tanks cap. If the cap has a broken seal the engine wont run right. it has a uneven balance of air decompression-thats the issue in this video. But yes, its running now, these engines are actually good when under heavy load, they bog down a bit but come back with way more power. Yet prone to there week carbs and cheap metals to throw a rod, i think there great But Nothing beats a Briggs&S.

  • u,mmm...if you're going to just blow it up i'd happily take it off your hands. ha.

  • @scbjgs how much u think its even worth?

  • @Dillon1791 well you'r blowing it up...so $0. haha. i'll give you $20

  • @scbjgs 20 dolla big! :D i just need a Honda GX360K1 motor first. ill keep ya posted tho.

  • @Dillon1791 ha. ok, i already have the same engine but it was given to me and it had been sitting for 2 years atleast..so it wont stay running and the pullstarter broke so i'm pretty much done.

  • @scbjgs u have a Gx360K1?? or just the Tecumseh Powersport 5horse? any way im going to have some fun the the Tecumseh for a while. Maybe take out the governor and torture it a lil in the woods. any ideas?

  • @Dillon1791 take the governer out and floor it. the valve will get shot out of the cylinder. hahaha. boom, crash, bang. :D. no. i have a honda gc160, briggs 5hp flathead. and a tecumseh 5hp

  • @scbjgs ah ok. ill c what i can do.

  • i have that same engine on my go cart. it has really good pick up with an aftermarket sprocket

  • when those engines are running right theey screww in a go cart

  • @motocross19916 yupp, shes running tight now, im wanting to blow her up to replace her with a 13HP honda gx360K1 - its a 2cylinder! :D

  • pice of crap tehcumseh honda 1 pull start yea baby

  • @killer72084 HELL YES! OMG i hate this fucking motor! Im looking at a 2cylinder OHC Honda motor atm for it now, may need to extend the kart from right behind the back seats to about 3-6 inches. The engine is a HT3813K1 13 HP HONDA!!! :D 2 Cylinders! V-tec "i wish" LOL

  • like the vid man do you know anywhere i can get new seat belts for this or parts

  • @fs509pb ummm u could try a junk yard for them"sorry" or you could find out your part # and order them. These carts are the same as Manco Dingo's same chasey and every thing, juss diff logos so it should work out fine. Try to Google them.

  • @fs509pb Murray was purchased by the Briggs and Stratton Corporation as of February 11, 2005. Briggs and Stratton has "determined that it will not manufacture, sell, or distribute [go-karts], nor will it provide any service parts, warranty coverage, or technical support for these products." Further, it has been reported that Briggs & Stratton destroyed all replacement parts for the Murray go-karts. Therefore, parts are very limited for Murray karts.

  • Well, i watched the gas cap one, mine has a sponge in it and is still really firm and not broken. Also the gas is fairly new, i think its down to a low idle, to low almost, so ill idle it up. If i idle it to high, does it limit throttle response or lower speed or acceleration? Also, will it take off a little when it idles to high? thx Ill make a vid of me revving it and driving tis summer just to show it runs fine, just idle issues..

  • it definitely starves fr fuel when cold. check the inside of the gas cap to make sure it's good. look up "tecumseh gas cap" in my channel. u said u rebuilt the carb. u could also replace the bowl because sometimes it get corroded where the o-ring goes and it sucks in air.

  • @donyboy73 we have new gaskets and rings put on from over the summer, its just not idle-ling right, i wanted to know if you had any videos on ur channel of adjusting it, i know theres a screw, but i dnt know if its just that or not. if you dont have any of this engine, could you make one?

  • it snowed like 6 inches where i live, so i crunk it up and revved it every .50 sum seconds so it sounded like it was red lining...., i want a exhaust to put on it...maybe a dual tip set up..it ran good in the snow also. i might make a vid for it in the snow...

  • We had a Snow Blower with a 5.5HP Tecumseh. I liked hearing it running at low speed cause it sounded like a harley. It repeatedly revved up RPM's every 1.5 seconds.
