GM bought Oldsmobile in 1908. Unless that is a 1907 Rockett, my original statement stands as is. Looks like YOU are the one who needs to do some research!! How often do you embarrass yourself like this?
When I sing my voice is extremely similiar to hers so much so when I won a singing contest this guy who made studio singer records for cheap mix cd's asked if I would dub for Kathy's songs. I didn't know whether to be offended or flattered.
The song rocks and it's my favorite to sing, and judging by my experience a crowd pleaser.

The only thing better than hearing Kathy Mattea sing 455 Rocket on her CD or in this video is to hear her sing it onstage in concert! Didn't this video win best country music video of the year for 96 or 97? Good bluesy sound. Dig the steel guitar and harmonica.

I think the lyrics are referring to the car-'who's junk pile piece of chevelle is this'-in racing, not generally the GM brand itself

I have a '61 and it did too....but shes got a 455 now, and I'll tell you she burns a lot better than the 394.
