I encountered and played one of these FX-20 instruments today for the first time. I am in disbelief that this instrument is from the early 1980's based on how advanced the sounds are. It is clearly a high-quality machine with lots yet to offer.
As for this video, the playing is fantastic. Impeccable.
@yamaho5 Still working a lot in Florida, doing a lot of one-man-shows lately. Also writing orchestrations for other performers as well. Moved to Atlanta, but not enough connections yet. Would love a hotel lobby piano gig. Played at Nordstrom on a Steinway B from 2000-2006- worst-paying, best-loved gig of my life! You can understand that one. It made a piano-lover out of a die-hard electronics freak.
I loved the "orchestra plus" mentioned in your 1st post here. I did a bang up arrangement of "You Only Live Twice" utilizing that device!!! You are so clever in your arrangements, Wally.
I was amazed that Yamaha survived after Lowery put every organ company out of business with the innovated "Orchestra Plus" from the popular Lowrey's MX-1 during the 1980's.
Hi Pat...that is probably because Yamaha had an extremely large lineup of organ models, far greater than Lowery had. And Yamaha built many other instruments, but Lowery sold only organs. Love them both for their high end models. But I am disappointed with Yamaha's decision to stop selling organs in the USA. And I am told that the chips for the FX series are no longer available if they fail.
Thanks for the nice words, but his B3 doesn't have a Leslie speaker on it, and that is no fun for me. Tell him to buy a leslie and then we will have something to play. :-) I have just put three more Hammond videos on, so check them out.
@R1O1S1Y1 Thanks for the niice words. I would probably come to Perry with an invitation to lunch and playing some. Perry is a road less traveled, but lets get Roy to arrange a time and I will come. Thanks Wally
Thanks all, I am glad that I recorded that now. It was for all of you and I am grateful for the nice remarks. Gracias

Bravo!! You're one of my favorite pianists- nobody can orchestrate from the piano like you do.

Wow, I'm smitten! So glad Roy K. told me about you. Now I'd love to hear you on his B3 Hammond. When are you going to Perry again?
