Thanks for this video, my husband was "drafted", he was only 19 y.0, it was a living HELL for both of us! Thank God, he made it home, thank God you did, many did not. Until 1973 in the USA, everyone under the age of 21 was considered a minor... unable to own property, buy or own a firearm or alcoholic beverages, and unable to vote. On my 21st birthday, I had been in Viet Nam for over 9 months and had almost five more months left on my tour of duty. Back at home I could not legally own, or buy ammo, for the rifle I carried during that time... or, buy a bottle of beer. Ironic, huh?

Most people do not realize we enter this war in 1950, because the French could not stop the communism north. Individual soldiers have NO control over any war. We follow orders and we try to survive. That is all. Just as with the VietNam War, non-participants choose to blame the war on the individual soldiers. That was wrong then, and it is wrong now. If you do not like a war, complain to those responsible for it, the politicians... not the soldiers. and, especially not the draftees. VietNam had no oil, but it had thousands of rubber plantations. Once the war ended, our supply of rubber diminished.
Exactly what I was thinking, I remember speaking with my grandfather at one point about this because I just seen First Blood for the first time and I asked him why the police wanted him out of the town and he explained it to me how people treated the Vets when they came home. He served in Korea, but he had an idea of what he was talking about, and my response was the same as what you just said. They go through hell and were treated worse than dogs when they returned to where they belonged

Thank you for going to Vietnam! I grew up studying the war. I did my freshman term paper in college on the subject of Spec. Ops. in Vietnam. I joined the Army in 2005 at the hight of the Iraq war when dudes were being mutilated, burned and strung up in the streets. My drills at basic said they knew those kids.
The Vietnam War was the best example of what is wrong with US foreign policy!

Until 1973 in the USA, everyone under the age of 21 was considered a minor... unable to own property, buy or own a firearm or alcoholic beverages, and unable to vote. On my 21st birthday, I had been in Viet Nam for over 9 months and had almost five more months left on my tour of duty. Back at home I could not legally own, or buy ammo, for the rifle I carried during that time... or, buy a bottle of beer. Ironic, huh?

Individual soldiers have NO control over any war. We follow orders and we try to survive. That is all. Just as with the VietNam War, non-participants choose to blame the war on the individual soldiers. That was wrong then, and it is wrong now. If you do not like a war, complain to those responsible for it, the politicians... not the soldiers. and, especially not the draftees. VietNam had no oil, but it had thousands of rubber plantations. Once the war ended, our supply of rubber diminished.

Exactly what I was thinking, I remember speaking with my grandfather at one point about this because I just seen First Blood for the first time and I asked him why the police wanted him out of the town and he explained it to me how people treated the Vets when they came home. He served in Korea, but he had an idea of what he was talking about, and my response was the same as what you just said. They go through hell and were treated worse than dogs when they returned to where they belonged

Thank you for going to Vietnam! I grew up studying the war. I did my freshman term paper in college on the subject of Spec. Ops. in Vietnam. I joined the Army in 2005 at the hight of the Iraq war when dudes were being mutilated, burned and strung up in the streets. My drills at basic said they knew those kids.
