Why does she use the N-word around 9:40 ... it is something that troubles me... shouldn't one expect a little more sensitivity from a civil rights activist?
@thesixtiesmusic she isn't using the word towards somebody. If you re watch it and listen to the context you will see what she was trying to get across.
hey... thanks for your reply... i did understand that she was representing the views of the other side... but i still think that the word could have been avoided.. especially, when one does not use it even in personal conversations anymore.. one can express the opinions of the other side in a slightly more sensitive manner :) ... however, i concede that i should not judge her on that... more so, when she did convey a great deal of goodness and kindness through her songs.
And can't go without saying that Joan Baez has aged more beautifully than anyone I have ever seen. I am just a bit younger than she and I admit I have not carried that physical/youth/beauty thing in through my aging. I suspect it is her spiritual beauty that keeps the physical appearance beauty going and she has a strong storrage of that spiritual beauty and it is constantly growing.
bob must have really given joan a great boning cause she still loves him...
you could be a real prick to a chick but if you have boned her very very well...she will take your shit and come back for more and always be in love with you..
@ChiroQuacker Ech.. I think you miss the point of what a true love, one that flourishes in the physical and the spiritual/artistic range gives people and leaves them with way after the relationship is over.
no i didnt miss a thing...joan says she knew bobby would be a huge star and she liked that....and combine that with the fact he gave joanie a good pounding...and thats why she still loves him...
if he wrote shitty songs and had a limp noodle...she wold have forgotten his ass decades ago
"The Hour The Ship Comes In" what a great great song. Early Bob..finest. The guy was just a kid and all this stuff was just coming out of him, raw, words, rhymes tumbling from this urchin who came out of nowhere (sorry Hibbing, no offence)...amazing. Influence was massive on everyone at the time. Joan, a great, honest, beautiful woman to this day, but she's no Bob Dylan...can't wait for the replies after that statement, no offence intended to Joan, or Hibbing, again...A
I have always had respect for JB and none for Dylan. She deserves to be heard on the radio everyday, it's a shame she isn't. Now I have less for JB and her foul language. It's too bad people can't behave better in our society. It reflects badly on them. We can do much better as a people.
@minuszero815 Joan promotes high ideals and a better world, but she speaks in the language of the gutter. This video is not inspiring. I do not imbrace the democrat party as she does. Obama does not inspire me. Nice try, but another failure. I do think her music should be heard on the radio. The 60's and 70's were the best decades for music. Leo Buscaglia DOES inspire me and always will.
@makerofjam Saw Joan in NYC, Beacon on tues nite. She did a little of her Dylan and it is funny and magical. No one sings Dylan like Joan. Well, some people argue judy Collins did a great job ob her recordings of Dylan.
joan baez is still a beautiful woman....i am a man...i dont know her orientation nowadays...but would i have a chance or is she just into chicks?
i have had gay women become interested in me sexually in my lifetime....i have had sexual relations with gay women ...they werent looking to be straight...it was like a diversion...for the moment kind of thing...
So, was he just puttin' everyone on, or, just a very humble guy (:47 - 1:20)? Nonetheless, the poetry of his words connected to the masses of deeper thinkers and feelers.... or, well.. thank you Woody.
@Rossonero072213 ha - true. Maybe that was the "genius" of Bob Dylan - making lots of money for words that kept the masses connected enough to keep paying, yet guessing. Once he tested those waters, he could risk changing them however he wanted. The Pied Piper was he.
does anybody know what's the song that pete seeger appears singing in 'no direction home' the afternoon before dylan went electric at newport? I think john Cohen says that it was dedicated to her daughter or something... i can't rembember right now, but that song its pretty great
This clip is a real a gem, Joan goes deep into her relationship with Bob Dylan , in 1965 Bob was a young man of 24 years old and a superstar, which no doubt also went too his head

What a load of crap. He treated her awfully.
And Dylan isn't complex. He writes all that stuff so he can get laid.

dont blame bobby..he wrote songs and was worshipped...women love powerful successful men..and they offer themselves sexually to them...
dont blame men....bobby
instead focus on how women....females....are star fuckers....
you women are more conniving then any horny jew writing folk songs to get laid....

to get laid...he traded off his genius in exchange for banging hundreds of hot chicks...
