I love this bit and actually think it is superior to the Walken one in the documentary. Albert Brooks is tough to get is you don't cock your head sideways because he is quite deadpan. Also, if you are a Pollak fan, I highly suggest his webcast at dubya dubya dubya kevinpollakschatshow dot cee oh emm It rocks. Two hour interviews with great comedy writers and actors. Good stuff. Live on Sunday.
This is one of the greatest impressions I've ever seen, precisely because Albert Brooks is so unique, so hilarious yet so dry - and Spacey completely captures that.
Unlike most old-school impressionists, he's not just getting the voice and facial inflections right, then relying on a few catch phrases. His exact phrasing, use of rhetorical questions, homespun yet brilliantly cerebral tales, subtle sense of being a victim of a world that doesn't quite understand his brilliance - he's got it all.
@benchleyparker YOU HAD DIFFICULTY TELLING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POLLACK AND SPACEY. THATS LIKE NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A STRAIGHT BAR AND A GAY BAR AFTER YOUVE BEEN IN 1 FOR AN HOUR!
Oh my dear lord, that is good. You don't sound like him, Kevin Pollak, and yet YOU DO! It's the voice inflections! He's got it! "How that's an act, anywhere...." You can see Brooks doing it. "Dad, mom, gather around, seriously, you're going to love this."
@JakeJax - because someone will read it almost a year later, and still appreciate the info. : ) This is how the Internet gets made useful...one answer at a time...

His voice inflection and timing is quite good yet his voice itself is not that close. Still very amusing, though, because of the material itself.

Haha! Oh man, that is a great Albert Brooks. Was this in P & T's "The Aristocrats"? I don't remember it.

It's in the special features. Its Penn and Paul, Provensa...Teller didn't make it...he just appeared in it.
A more important question though...is, why am I answering a question from over a year ago?

No, they choose, in their infinite "wisdom" to show Pollack's Chris Walken, still good, but much less funny.
