actually Sanders is right, not so much about the regulation, as govmnt cant do anything well, but about the bailout. Its a tax on the middle to bailout the poor essentially
Kudlow: Once in a while we need gov't intervention..
translation "once in a while, in between periods while we screw you, would you please come clean up the mess we left behind and save us from ourselves...p.s. we will not be returning the favour"
Kudrow is talking about "trickle-down economics," which we should all know by now does not work. It has NEVER worked! He speaks about how the bailouts will loosen up credit, and we know that never happened. He talks about the Middle Class desperately needing credit? The corporations have NOT shared OUR wealth, even in the form of credit.
As a dutch citizen who is very happy to live in a more socialist country, where we still have good education, healthcare and minimum wage i am appalled to see how the USA is becoming a third world country. I see now how the investmentbanks continue to rob the rest of the world. I support the revolution occupy wall street. I care about the planet, the future of our children. We should strive for more equality.
Kudrow isn't telling you about the TRILLIONS of dollars the banks have gotten leading up to this crisis via secret printing in the Federal reserve, nor does he speak of the QE's.
Typical scumbag. Tie the rich into the fabric of the economy so that they can get a bailout when they fuck up, and but fuck the rest of us. We should pull ourselves up from our bootstraps and stop complaining.
Fuck you Kudlow and fuck you far right Fascists. I don't accept your proposition
@Seedofwinter I think that most of that "quantitative easing" (printing money) was laundered by using it to buy billions of dollars worth of government bonds. I'm not sure how much if any went straight to banks. I think we BORROWED that fortune, to GIVE to the banks, so they could LEND it back to us at loan-shark rates. But I do certainly agree that Larry Kudrow is scumbag, spouting every non-defensible argument, and (naturally) making no attempt to defend them. HE is indefensible.
Funny watching this 3 years later. Larry Kudlow couldn't have been more wrong. Things got worse and we have not yet seen the bottom. One of his last quotes: "You're Going to Make Money" ... apparently he was referring to the top 4%.
Larry Kudlow does not truly support free markets if he supprted the bailout. In the true free market, the comoanies that received the bailout should have gone bankrupt naturally or figured out how to stay solvent.
Alexander Hamilton planted the seeds that gave rise to our plutocratic system. Fuck Alexander Hamilton and all praises for Aaron Burr for killing that fuck before he could do anymore damage.
Britain, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden are staunch US allies, and their systems consist of:
Monarchy, Democratically-elected parliaments, and socialist economies. Those peoples are not screaming for liberataion from "oppression" because they are not oppressed.
Communism and socialism are not the same thing; if they were they wouldn't be spelled differently.
The difference between socialists and capitalists is that socialists actually know what socialism means, and capitalists only pretend to understands what socialism means.
So we have bunch of corporate socialists calling themselves capitalists. The whole idea of free market is that it has to be FAIR. Bailing out every corporation that lobby for it is NOT free market.
We don't need democrats or republicans we need more independents like Bernie Sanders who have a brain in government.
Kudrow is not a socialist. Capitalism is about big government, not a vacuum between government and the people. Without big government there are no rich people, no wars, no prisons, no concentration camps, no genocides, no capitalism.
lol "the middle class will benefit"... 3 years later we're sat here with a huge unemployment and no fucking credit, huge interest rates while banks are getting money from the government at 0%.
As you can see by the massive growth in employment and huge economic growth, main street has benefited from the bail-outs.
Oh...it hasn't.
You know what, I think Mr. Kudlow knew full well that Welfare for Wall Street would not benefit main street, but lied through his teeth because he wanted his buddies to get their welfare handouts.
Anyone who is in the Middle Class or Working Class who listens to this T.V. host Wall Street Dicklicker, deserves the shit dumped on them by the corportist power establishment

they yell about socialism but have no problem shelling out billions upon billions to ceos and bankers. it is wrong and they will all meet their fate eventually, and only then will they start saying they're sorry
Now that we know that all they did with the money was to continue to sell jobs to other countries and take increases in their profits while paying less in taxes than ever...what do you think of bailing out the top Billionares? Just asking so that I can learn....Oh but by the way the fact that this man says "if every couple of decades", what about the bailout of the Loans of at the end of the Reagan years? What about disolving the Glass Steegal laws based on the 14th amendment?
4:10 Kulow says " I think this is a bail out of main street, of middle class folks that need credit" Here we are approaching 2011, the banks got bigger; tightened their lending, the economy is stalled. They were bailed out with taxpayer money and how do they pay it back, one, by raising interest rates on credit cards to 17 - 30 % on the very society that bailed them out. Kudlow you are unamerican, you have proven yourself to be an international corporatist. Oblivion is too good for you.
So funny. Bernie Sanders is right on the money. The only difference between Republicans and liberals is that Republicans want socialism for the corporations and the rich, while liberals want socialism for ordinary hardworking Americans. It's so funny how Sanders gets Kudlow to admit he's a socialist. HAha
Kudlow in 2001: Govt. stay out of the market. Govt. must not push home loans.
Kudlow in 2003: Govt. must bomb Iraq with taxpayer money.
Kudlow in 2008: Govt. come save us with taxpayer money. It'll help you. Put your money on the roulette table to save us. That way we save you. You will make money, you will profit. But hey, no govt. programs. Just subsidize Wall Street. That will save Main Street.
So much for the loosening of credit Mr. Kudlow had predicted would result from the Multi-billion-dollar financial market bailout that was suppose to "help the middle-class". Where are those bank lending, Mr. Kudlow? Where are those so-called jobs that were suppose to be created by the phantom credit loosening once these major banks got the billions of taxpayer dollars??
How to make taxpayers do well on these deals? That's done by making the government squeeze the little people dry... This is why the government is so gung ho about throwing people out of their homes and squeezing the people.
People like Kudlow will go on to be more rich and enjoy fruits capitalist system manipulated and sold out totally to Wall Street over the past 40 yrs. U.S. Congress since late 1970's has given tax breaks, tax subsidies, loopholes, rewritten legislation, repealed Glass-Steagall to and for big business, resulting in the most massive shift in income and wealth UPWARD cntry has ever seen. and so..... "oh but every 20 or 30 yrs conservatives love big gov't because..... blah blah blah
They're both morons! You can't play both sides. The answer is to revert back to the U.S. Constitution. Restore our privacy, civil liberties, and strip the FED of their almighty power.
Calling Alexander Hamilton a freemarket capitalist is such a joke. Read the Federalist Papers, and his Report on Manufactories, he's the founder of American Protectionism.
@JesusMakeUpMyDyinBed So senator Sanders is advocating for violent revolution and the ending of our bourgeois lifestyle? Or maybe he stays true to who he represents and doesn't play party games.
bernie knows what's up. larry kudlow was wrong. look at how greedy wall street has been since their entire existence was saved. they're greedier than ever. we should have let it collapse.
ANYONE who watches Corporate OWNED Main Stream News, has got to be dumber than Officer Bubbles,, WTF, this shit is As good as SNL used to be...
Anyone watched Conspiracy Theory With Jesse Ventura, Water Conspiracy,? Just out. Would love to see this FOX anchor interrupted handCUFFED and walk out to a Court on HIGH TREASON!! aired on the TODAY Show,,
Gotta be sad gettin pwned on your own show. Pwned twice as hard seein this clip 2 years later. No real oversight with this bailout, no real compensation caps for bailed out bank execs, middle class foots the bill when you look at what was actually done, banks never loaned this money out, etc..
Years later, and Bernie is the only one in this video that doesn't look like an idiot... Eat your f***ng words, Larry, you corporate-owned conservative jerk.
How wrong Larry was, still no loans available, didn't prevent job loss, all the bailout did was fatten the pockets of the CEO's. It was pillage, rape, and plunder of working American's at it's finest.
Larry Kudlow: "Once every few decades or a couple times a century free market guys like me have to attend to financial panics..."
Leon Trotsky: "Crises and booms were inherent in capitalism at its very birth; they will accompany it to its grave."
Michael Parenti: "Aside from performing collective functions necessary for all societies, the state has the particular task of protecting the process of accumulating wealth for the few."
Allard said this wasn't class warfare but he dodged or failed to admit the fact the costs would be passed on to the taxpayers- took a pass on that one didn't you Allard!
@hank1972 really? everything he said is absolutely true; small businesses are still struggling to access credit, standards are so tight that the average citizen does not have nearly enough access to borrowing.
@prodigee411 Yeah I like him a lot, and I will clarify on where I did not agree with. While I am not a a Bush supporter, I think Bush did the right thing with Tarp, and bailing out the banks. Only time I ever agreed with Bush BTW. Had the banks failed the dollar would have been unstable. Plus I was living over seas at the time, and many other countries Economy actually run on the dollar too. You & Bernie make great points and there should have been conditions for the bail out.
Larry Kudlow says that the bailouts would free up credit. Two years later, hasn't happened. They stole our money and won't lend anything out. Let's go to plan B. Let's beat the shit out of Larry Kudlow and the rest of the talking heads who fucked us!
What about a change in ideologie. Living on earned money not borrowed one?
"free up credits" sounds so wrong to me but maybe its because i grow up in a small middle class family who run her business always from the cash flow.
@nekbiodieselworks yeah I'm from Denmark and we usually view american economic politics as horrific, but if i were to move to the states it would definately be Vermont, a state with that kinda senator can't be all bad :)
Hamilton was not a capitalist. You can see that Kudlow is cut from the corporatist cloth. He is a cry baby capitalist who only likes welfare if it is for the rich.
"The bourgeois is a bourgeois - for the benefit of the working class." Isn't it interesting how people can't seem to say "working class" in the US. Folks are all "middle class" or "lower income", but nobody self-identifies as a worker. We have had class consciousness thoroughly propagandized away. God bless the defenders of the ruling class.
Capitalists oppose social spending by claiming that the proletariat will just become "dependent" on the government.
In fact, capitalism is entirely dependent on government. The bailout is only an extreme example of a larger point: without the government providing roads, schools, subsidies, and protective tariffs, capitalism would collapse on itself. Capitalism itself is the government's greatest dependent.
@QuatFax Lol, you can tell a person doesn't know what they are talking about when they use the word "proletariat". If I had a better quality of life not working as opposed to working then I would take welfare benefits as well, you would be stupid not to as we are all generally rational characters. It is not the fault of the poor but rather the government. The only way you can dispute this is through an argumentum ad misercordiam. Creative destruction = capitalism, not bailouts.
@bonfirejovi What the hell are you trying to say? You've written the most unreadable post I have ever seen. All I got was that you don't think highly of me because I used the word "proletariat" (which is an absolutely idiotic position to take; what a ridiculous criterion to judge someone on!).
Let me make one thing clear: there has never been a laissez-faire economy in history, and there never will be.
This is a great example of Privatizing profits and socializing losses. When take a risk and win, they keep the money. But when they take a risk and lose we have to pay.
Sanders really nailed Kudlow pretty good. I wish someone would challenge the idea that the Wall St. "crisis" would necessarily result in financial doom for the rest of the planet. Opponents of the bailout miss the boat by not demanding hard evidence of such claims.
Very good point you make. Thanks and indeed - truth needs to come out. Kudlow probably has some shares here and there and many vested interests places and he just talks through his prism - just like everybody does. Hence why we need a free-market, to prevent the Kudlows of this world to coercively steal money from the rest of the crowd when his buddies on wall street screw up big by showing how moronic they all are while buying subprime non-sense and investing in useless dot coms.
oh every 20-30 yrs I'll go against everything I believe in to get some of that government money but u can't do anything to regulate the greed of the capitalist pigs
Privatize the profits. Socialize the losses. That's the great Capitalist system run by corporate thugs here in America. It's class warfare. The shifting of the wealth to the top 2 or 3 % income earners. What a croc. Brian Moore for president.
It's not "socialism for the rich", it's socialism for everyone. It just so happens the rich got their socialism first. 1. Bailout ---> 2. Healthcare. Look how happy everyone is on both sides now?
Hindsight is golden, isn't it? Kudlow's whole argument for the bailout is that it will allow the middle class and small businesses to secure loans so they can prosper. Sorry Larry. Since the bailout, small businesses have found credit tighter than ever while our tax dollars have been squandered to acquire smaller businesses making too big to fail even more bloated. Major shareholders and top executives have been rthe only beneficiaries.
@RusselBertrand - Basic economics - don't get in debt or the banks will take you for everything you've got - they will tax you into infinity with the power of interest, taxes and inflation. End the FED (the secret government) - buy silver and watch the fiat dollar loose its value.
Good job, Sen. Sanders. Way to lampoon a phony "Free" marketer like Larry Kudlow. I like the way Kudlow cites Geithner and Bernanke(!). These are the guys who were on the job when the whole thing collapsed. Geithner and Bernanke have NEVER gotten anything about the economy right. Even Larry Kudlow should know that Wall Street couldn't care less about Main Street.
Free enterprise is all the rage...greed is good until it plays out, as it always does and people get hurt. The balancing of fortunes is like the leveling of water. Great wealth may be amassed by a few, but eventually even the ignorant catch on and revolt.
Especially when the veil is as thin as it is now. Thanks to people like Bernie Sanders calling these dicks in their own inconsistencies.
Union workers would be capitalist up until they use the power of a leftist government or strong arm & mob tactics to force a contract which at that point is no longer capitalism.
Larry Kudlow is such a fucking douchebag. Typical corporate conservative shill fuck. Like he gives a shit about main street or middle class people. Long live Senator Bernie Sanders.
I consider socialism to be the mortal enemy of America but Larry Kudlow proved himself to be a complete phony who ran to crony capitalism when it suited his short sighted interests. He is a shill and liar, even to this very day when I listen to him on Saturdays, he is still lying his ass off.
I agree with almost nothing Bernie Sanders is for but he owned this neo-con hard core here.
Study the founding history of America and you will answer your own question. Or look at what socialism has already done to us. Entitlement mentality is rampant and we are now paying dearly for it. That is what the socialists have delivered on to us since the thirties.
oh right because I'm sure the founding fathers would view freedom as kids getting their arms ripped off in machines,,let's repeal all safety and health regulations, building codes, labor laws, overtime, sick pay,..because that's socialist and wrong...let's go back to 12 hour days six days a week...because I guess thats freedom
It's not my idea of capitalism that is warped, it's yours. Because when you negotiate contracts, that isn't socialism. Safety rules aren't socialism either.
You're right! Those damn dirty Socialist Unions and safety regulations and the minimum wage and environmental protections! How could they make the world a better place for the working class? It's deplorable the way they try to make the workplace less dangerous and more beneficial to struggling families instead of just blow the bourgeois CEOs all day!
dont bail them out, and dont add more regulation. letting them go under is in fact regulation!

OH YES, we did have to give in to blackmail by banks
to keep the world economy functioning just like
Obama has to give in to Republican blackmail
over getting the votes for START treaties
renewing unemplym't insurance, raising the debt ceiling.
Like Bush, Obama can't even say that the economy
of the country is being blackmailed by, in this case, the GOP
& that future vital votes are subject to the same blackmail.

So much for the loosening of credit Mr. Kudlow had predicted would result from the Multi-billion-dollar financial market bailout that was suppose to "help the middle-class". Where are those bank lending, Mr. Kudlow? Where are those so-called jobs that were suppose to be created by the phantom credit loosening once these major banks got the billions of taxpayer dollars??
yongy2000 1 year ago

Sen. Sanders is perhaps the bravest man in Congress. But I did not agree with him on this one.
hank1972 1 year ago
@hank1972 really? everything he said is absolutely true; small businesses are still struggling to access credit, standards are so tight that the average citizen does not have nearly enough access to borrowing.
prodigee411 1 year ago
@prodigee411 Yeah I like him a lot, and I will clarify on where I did not agree with. While I am not a a Bush supporter, I think Bush did the right thing with Tarp, and bailing out the banks. Only time I ever agreed with Bush BTW. Had the banks failed the dollar would have been unstable. Plus I was living over seas at the time, and many other countries Economy actually run on the dollar too. You & Bernie make great points and there should have been conditions for the bail out.
hank1972 1 year ago
Divide and conquer... eliminate the middle class, and the rich will absorb the wealth.
ohgrx 1 year ago
Larry Kudlow says that the bailouts would free up credit. Two years later, hasn't happened. They stole our money and won't lend anything out. Let's go to plan B. Let's beat the shit out of Larry Kudlow and the rest of the talking heads who fucked us!

"The bourgeois is a bourgeois - for the benefit of the working class." Isn't it interesting how people can't seem to say "working class" in the US. Folks are all "middle class" or "lower income", but nobody self-identifies as a worker. We have had class consciousness thoroughly propagandized away. God bless the defenders of the ruling class.
greggh 1 year ago
Capitalists oppose social spending by claiming that the proletariat will just become "dependent" on the government.
In fact, capitalism is entirely dependent on government. The bailout is only an extreme example of a larger point: without the government providing roads, schools, subsidies, and protective tariffs, capitalism would collapse on itself. Capitalism itself is the government's greatest dependent.
QuatFax 1 year ago
@QuatFax Lol, you can tell a person doesn't know what they are talking about when they use the word "proletariat". If I had a better quality of life not working as opposed to working then I would take welfare benefits as well, you would be stupid not to as we are all generally rational characters. It is not the fault of the poor but rather the government. The only way you can dispute this is through an argumentum ad misercordiam. Creative destruction = capitalism, not bailouts.
bonfirejovi 1 year ago
@bonfirejovi What the hell are you trying to say? You've written the most unreadable post I have ever seen. All I got was that you don't think highly of me because I used the word "proletariat" (which is an absolutely idiotic position to take; what a ridiculous criterion to judge someone on!).
Let me make one thing clear: there has never been a laissez-faire economy in history, and there never will be.

This is a great example of Privatizing profits and socializing losses. When take a risk and win, they keep the money. But when they take a risk and lose we have to pay.
Winterwolf00 1 year ago
Sanders really nailed Kudlow pretty good. I wish someone would challenge the idea that the Wall St. "crisis" would necessarily result in financial doom for the rest of the planet. Opponents of the bailout miss the boat by not demanding hard evidence of such claims.
medliberty 1 year ago
@medliberty

Bernie was right on the money all along.

I agree with almost nothing Bernie Sanders is for but he owned this neo-con hard core here.
kmg501 2 years ago
how is socialism the mortal enemy of america?
chokingvr0ckstdy 2 years ago
Study the founding history of America and you will answer your own question. Or look at what socialism has already done to us. Entitlement mentality is rampant and we are now paying dearly for it. That is what the socialists have delivered on to us since the thirties.
kmg501 2 years ago
oh right because I'm sure the founding fathers would view freedom as kids getting their arms ripped off in machines,,let's repeal all safety and health regulations, building codes, labor laws, overtime, sick pay,..because that's socialist and wrong...let's go back to 12 hour days six days a week...because I guess thats freedom
chokingvr0ckstdy 2 years ago 3
Most of that has nothing to do with socialism. I'm not sure what you are ranting about.
kmg501 2 years ago
then obviously you have nove concept of what capitalism is.
chokingvr0ckstdy 2 years ago
It's not my idea of capitalism that is warped, it's yours. Because when you negotiate contracts, that isn't socialism. Safety rules aren't socialism either.
