RAV 4 would get out off this snow without problems, even it was on hill... And this Honda is equipped with snow tires, so there shouldn't be any problems at all... The only problem is that Honda's AWD "real time" is really bad.
@neca5292 seems like there is a 1/2 sec. delay. That's why I like part-time 4wd so it's always in and you can rock it getting out of a situation like this.

I see snow maybe one year in four and I still have a $79 set of chains in the back of my CRV. Finally, if there was some type of emergency which required you to drive on those tires... fill the back with something heavy and let some air out of the tires. 160hp 4WD will move you through snow if you get some traction out of the tires.
This snow is pretty deep for a small SUV. Plus it's not like the AWD is for stuff like this. It's for light snow and slippery conditions. Not a Land Rover we got here. I love love love the CRV.

I am going to attempt to strike a fair balance here. I own a Freelander 2 and I am quite happy to concede that the CRV is far superior for build quality and reliability. I am fortunate enough to have had zero problems with mine though and I do venture off road sometimes. In view of this video, I can tell you I have reversed through worse snow than that. The Freelander ploughs through easily. I prefer to have that capability but each to their own. Happy motoring regardless!

Well, a simple 4wd system gives much better driving abilities on snowy roads in wintertime. I own a Ford Kuga myself, a small 4wd car with Haldex drive system. A simple system that transfer power to the reartires if the front ones are spinning. This makes the car fun to drive in wintertime as you can play a bit with it, but it also gives much better traction on snowy roads. No more torquesteer as with a fwd car. And you can drive through quite much snow without the car being stuck.

i have a 2002 CR-V and in my next change of tires i am thinking to put the Michelin Latitude Cross, a tire 35% off road 65% road, or a all terrain like BFG. Do you know how i can put a bigger tire in my CR-V? I have actually a 205/70R15. I would like to put a 225 or 235 /75 R15. Do you think it posible? Making a transformation maybe in my suspension ?

If your hanging on snow it doesnt matter if you even has 6 wheeldrive with locking on all axles, all tires just doesnt have any grip and will spin.
That being said, CRV has a simple 4wheeldrivesystem that works god enough as long as you dont push the limits.

Your'e right about a simple 4wd setup, and to be honest - i'm probably being a little mean with my comments....
But I do think - even when it starts rolling it still seems to be struggling too much....
Im just not a fan of Soft Roaders like CRV and RAV4's, Car should be a car, 4wd should have at least LSD and a low range T'case.

Well, a simple 4wd system gives much better driving abilities on snowy roads in wintertime. I own a Ford Kuga myself, a small 4wd car with Haldex drive system. A simple system that transfer power to the reartires if the front ones are spinning. This makes the car fun to drive in wintertime as you can play a bit with it, but it also gives much better traction on snowy roads. No more torquesteer as with a fwd car. And you can drive through quite much snow without the car being stuck.

I would rather own honda than anything alse.Especially that over priced Barvarian piece of crap Audi which is owned and operated by decendants of the nazi party.Now honda mey not be the fastest or most attractive car,but it is closer to being perfect than any other car!

Really? Let's see. Same depth snow. I think that little car would be bottomed out long before the street tires spin in the snow needing the Honda to tow it out, but I will watch if you can prove it.

ok once the snow comes i will prove it and what the hell are u talking about a honda coming to tow my car out the honda would never even make it out the driveway if i needed a tow i would pull out my mercedes ml that is a beast in the snow ive never gotten it stuck.

..... a mercedes in that much snow would be sitting literally on top of the snow doing the same thing. it would prob. have a harder time because they are a lot heavier then a honda. the mercedes my grandmother has is absolutely terrible in snow. had to shovel a path just so we could back the stupid thing out of the garage and there was maybe 3 inches on the ground.... i would rather have trouble getting out then dying driving a mercedes in the winter up north.

well first off it depends on what tires u have, heavy is also good and trust me my merc never floats on top of snow it plows thru. The ml320 weighs 6300lbs no lie. I know that alot, plus what kind of mercedes did ur grandmother have was it rwd? The crv is a very wimpy car its just esentiall a jacked up civic with a shitty awd system that takes forever to kick in and does not send enough torque the rear wheels.

I have no idea. she lives in florida and maine but in the winter she spends most of the time in florida, so there prob some wimpy tires that arnt made for the snow haha. its an e350 idk which one of the two.
the crv isnt that wimpy though its good in some things it does. mine hauls ass not obv like a benz.

i didnt mean crv wimpy in that sense its just that its a small car, so i dont expect too much from it. the e350 btw is rwd so im not surprised it got stuck. And even if it was 4matic its still too low to do any good in snow. The low cars with awd only help in slippery road conditions, when it comes to packed snow its time for a suv or truck.

yea. i love it and i hate it. i wish it could come in something other then a vtech 4 cyl. i figured it wasnt awd since it got stuck. hence why it doesnt ever see winter haha

the bad thing about the crv is cause its too light, and the tires they have with it suck, i changed them and they help also all the damn safety things they put on it. if i spin on even the smallest about the stupid abs and something else come on... i think its worse cause it wont let you correct the car yourself.

in some situations yes but its been proven that the systems actually work. I forget what vid but they take a r8v10, the guy drives it with all electronics, then without and its impossible. He almost crashes. All the recent safety stuff is good just takes a bit of getting used to my audi systems work great.

I guess I just wish it wasnt such an over safe car. or only certain things would turn on in higher circumstances. but it did get like suv of the year or something so i guess it speaks for itself. audis are nice, if i could buy one... but i cant. i just want a sporty little car not an suv anymore

ummm.... i think 22,000ish. without some of the stuff i changed on it. with the stuff i changed on it, it be like 24-25ish i didnt get one of the high end models. it was stupid cause everything else is so much extra. like i was looking at the scion tc. and with pretty much included that i want for it is like the what i payed for mine

well you say "audis are nice, if i could buy one...". I bought my audi for 19,000 all white with tan leather, burlnut trim tech package, all the goodies, fully loaded. So it is possible to get an audi for not much, they dont hold their resale value very high.

yea they are nice. iv been looking at like some for sale that are a few years old that arnt overloaded with miles but my parents are all " no used cars!!" i went on the audi site and the new a4s start at 45.... deff would need to find a nice good condition older one. i saw yours its wikkid nice looking. i could never do white im ocd wikkid about my car being clean lol

haha that sux with the used cars thing every car my parents have bought are used, except in 1998 we bought a sienna brand new. My dad said it was no different than getting a low mielage used car for a lower price. Yea i made a mistake getting white it gets dirty fast, its my fav color tho. However i have hookups at car washes to get my car clean. Although im ocd about my car and dont like it getting in other peoples hands i try to clean it myself.

yeaaa it does. i mean i could get a new one if i wanted but my mom wont let me get a new car right now :/ i either want black or silver but my dads like scratches show up very fast on black... i dont lol. i dont like other people washing my car i like doing it myself cause then i do all the extra after to keep the chrome shinny and the black rly clean. no car wash at home is that good. and the inside too. i always get yelled at jokingly about caring to much about my car.

Wow one dirty honda and the wheels lol what you need to do is hit the traction control switch and give it slowly power in reverse and then forward the key is to rock your self out not berry your self in more by punching the gas

If u dont wanna get stuck next time, put All Terrain tires on it, not all season. Get yokohamas or bfgoodrich or something. I have an old Crv '99 with all terrain tires, and doesnt get stuck on deep snow. Good tires matter!

i have a 2002 CR-V and in my next change of tires i am thinking to put the Michelin Latitude Cross, a tire 35% off road 65% road, or a all terrain like BFG. Do you know how i can put a bigger tire in my CR-V? I have actually a 205/70R15. I would like to put a 225 or 235 /75 R15. Do you think it posible? Making a transformation maybe in my suspension ?
