@atomicnortherner Or, they "ramp down" the effect on "It it a good idea to microwave this?"... seems more likely, because Braniac is a Scientific Show
@jleer1 only about six things exploded the microwave in "is it a good idea to microwave this" the only thing that was major was a car airbag, something with enough compacted energy for the type of destruction, but this looks fake.... I am starting to sound like I care lol! I suggest we all watch is it a good idea to microwave this insted!
The reason you don't put metal in a microwave is because the microwaves cause strong electric currents in the metal, and if the metal can't take it, it catches fire. But only thin metal catches fire. Thick metal can take the currents, and will not catch fire.
And also, if they want us to believe this, they should have less editing and more raw footage, like on _Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?_
@icekat83 Dammit....this is the third comment I lost because of those darn "please verify you are not a machine" boxes. I'm logged in darn-it...how much less of a computer can I be!?!?!?
its always funny how the guy who puts the stuff in the microwave always spoils the result xD if he runs its going to explode, if he walks something else will happen
Fake. How many people have accidently left a piece of metal (be it a utensil, piece of foil, or maybe a gold leafed plate) in a microwave before? If a piece of metal were to cause a microwave to explode you'd hear stories about this all the time. It also won't damage the Microwave. Here's an experiment: Take a FLAT piece of aluminum foil and place it in the bottom of the microwave and turn it on. What happens? Nothing. Put a slice of pizza on it and you cook the bottom of it.
@GIRlovesWaffles Actually I microwaved a mini apple pie once and forgot to take off of the tin cover...our microwave started looking light a lightning storm was inside so I took the cover off once I worked out the cause. LOL.
For those who wonder why it didn't blow up when they tried it at home, it is because Microwaves have a safety mechanism which turns off the magnetron on overheating. I believe they have disabled this mechanism in the microwave used in this video so that the magnetron keeps going until it explodes.
@FinalSwordX "On Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This" they had a plastic cradle coated with metal and while the micro waves were being reflected, the metal was melting off. The cradle Brainiac used is pure metal.
@AaronTheOneAndOnly "On Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This" they had a plastic cradle coated with metal and while the micro waves were being reflected, the metal was melting off. The cradle Brainiac used is pure metal.
@the06bug "On Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This" they had a plastic cradle coated with metal and while the micro waves were being reflected, the metal was melting off. The cradle Brainiac used is pure metal.
@NinjaFireProductions Prove what exactly? That Brainiac had a steel Newton's Cradle? I think you can see that for yourself. Brainiac is a respected show - I don't think they would even THINK of lying to their audience.
@test666bgfrd they never stated that it was pure metal for all we know it could've been silver painted plastic, if you watch "is it a good idea to microwave this" that gives a true insight to what happens when things are microwaved, such as the newtons cradle, a microwave cant explode from the microwaves boucnceing around inside it because microwave ovens are BUILT to resist all microwaves
@NinjaFireProductions In "is it a good idea to microwave this" they used a VERY cheap microwave, whereas Brainiac úse quite a strong and good one. And they didn't use a Newton's Cradle form a dollar store. So not only are the microwaves the cradle is bombarded with stronger, but the cradleitself reflects them more.
@test666bgfrd considering braniac is a British show i doubt they could've even found a dollar store, what more is that I have tried this myself recently with a 900 MW microwave and and both types of newtons cradle (plastic and metal) the results i got were almost identical to Is it a good idea to microwave this Apart from the Pure metal one having next to no damage to it
i dont know whether it is fake or not..but perhaps because most of the experiment they set the temperature of the microwave to the max..i watch jripple "is it a good idea to microwave this" too..its cool..but i dont kno whether jripple set the temperature too because they prefer to use time set..either way both braniac and jripple are cool..especially when something blows up..i like it
@maxter480 "On Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This" they had a plastic cradle coated with metal and while the micro waves were being reflected, the metal was melting off. The cradle Brainiac used is pure metal.
@KILLERxKNIGHT1 well it didnt explode quite like in the brainiac vid but there was some combustion, maybe its a different alloy or another variable that i didnt have control over...
its fake i've tried it... the supports melt and spark a little the balls fall off... thats all its fun for a second but then it stops sparking and its just boring... of course it doesn't explode...
@MrJohn404 jpizzle 1122's newton's cradle was plastic it melted, this one was metal, but I agree with you the video is fake, becase metal in a microwave will not cause that big of a blast.
