  • Schoenberg certainly deserves to be higher than #49, but the fact that he even made the list is already reassuring.

  • i cannot believe Ravel got 50 he shudve been much higher La Valse Miroirs Daphnis et Chloe Suit Espagnole etc. prove to be amazing compositions. He shud at least be in the top 25 but I understand this was not Earthatic's Decision but the public.

  • What is the name of the first Ravel piece ?

  • It is his Piano Concerto in G.

  • Ravel in 50 is a big surprise...

I expected him to be in top 15 at least. :(

  • Suprised Glazunov is in this video, considering that so few of his pieces are settled in the core repertoire. But then again, I can't help but think that 50 composers are too much for this category.

  • What's the last piece?

  • @MathijsGiltjes1993

    It's Mars from The Planets.

  • Where is the rest, 2009 is almost over:P

  • Yes, this will have to lead in to 2010 unfortunately, Results 45 down to 40 coming this week!

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Ravel should be way up?

  • I agree, I think Ravel should definitely be in the top 20! Up to the public though unfortunately!

  • Could someone please tell me the names of the Shönberg and Glazunov pieces used in the video? It would be very much appreciated.

  • The Schoenberg piece used is Pelleas and Melisande. The Glazunov pieces in order are Symphony No5, Symphony No4 and The Seasons.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • WOW holst in 46 thats a suprise i like his music very much i would rank him like 30 in my favourites but i wanst expecting it to reach even 50 :P hehe waiting for the rest and hopping beethoven wins (my favourite is haydn but i dont think he has a chance lol)

  • Thanks, I'd be more than happy to give you some ideas for some series! You will be popular, you just have to be patient! It takes ages to get say more than 50000 views on my videos!

  • Nah... Glazunov couldn't have gotten up there at ALL! I don't believe it! Although... I can't say I'm sad. Maybe one day... he won't be so derided as he use to be.

I have a question: How many people were surveyed?

  • Well he did though!!!!

How many people were surveyed, well the answer to that is LOADS!!!! :)

  • If you are going to copy this idea, can you please change it slightly, please don't make it the same as my series! Thanks.

  • Wow, what a great video!! I see you have worked really hard on it!

I personally thought that Ravel would have achieved a better position.

I know NOTHING about Schönberg, so I can't give you my opinion.

It's nice to see Smetana in the top 50. Very Majestic music.

I really like Glazunov's music, but I he put Rachmaninov in depression for many years.

I love Holst' music, he is probably my favorite of the 4, with Ravel coming very close.

  • Well I did warn you there would be surprises! I would personally put Ravel at maybe 35, but it's the public's decision!

  • Really good surprise thx T_T << cries!!

  • i too am surprised at Ravel's position, especially with Smetana and Glazunov ahead of him (people actually like Glazunov now?). In my mind, both the latter two are just minor composers, whose works are pleasant but not innovative or original like Ravel's piano works or Daphnis et Chloe.

  • Smetana? cool.....not TREMENDOUSLY well known, but fair enough......i really like these choices.....thanks earthatic!

  • I think that the reason that Ravel is only number 50 is because he wrote that piece "Bolero"...but that is just my opinion.

  • Ravel is actually a TERRIFIC composer.....the one played in the video was the piano concerto........it is phenomenal. There are loads of fantastic Ravel works.......

  • The name of the works please?

  • number 50 is Ravel's concerto in G.

  • Thank you... And Glazunov's work?

  • im sorry to say that im not very familiar with Glazunov....but i will definitely look into that!!

  • Schoenberg over Ravel? What is this madness? hahaha

  • Can't wait for Number 1! But I am surprised that Ravel is Number 50 though ^_^

  • he shouldve been higher, right?

  • Yep.

  • i know....but as u know, these were the PUBLICS favorite composers...........

  • Because those who love Ravel's piano pieces have already voted Chopin and Liszt........... About orchestra, no ideas.
