To everyone asking it looks like the work is done in Corel Painter with some lighting work done in Adobe Photoshop after it's done :)

I hate you, for you ability to conceptualize, lol. I can paint anything from reference, but I can't come up with anything original to save my life.

Wonderful painting. I think you could have 'sold' the texture on the monster better by using the glow tool to add dots where light would have been reflecting off of its glossy skin like an octopus.
