  • Very nice group! I would love to get back of that time ! nice time, Good memories

  • Guys, this is the song sampled in starlight by muse, just two notes are sped up in the muse one!

  • I hate to admit that I really like this song, such a sweet little keyboard riff, and just nice keys in general. THE 80's were a beautiful time in so many ways! OK so the video is kind of silly, so what, so am I.

  • @vinstrumentals Its not silly man (or m'am..?) IMHO what appears to be silly is there to support the cartoon-like world re-creation. Some shots there are well thought of, like the last one where the mike wire connects the viewer to a fading band, the stop motion bits, the "silly" dwarfy bald bass player that often is the only (apparently) randomly travelling element...

  • I think it was the first video I saw on MTV

  • She wants me to kiss her snatch.

  • Simplemente puedo decir ....amo la musica de los 80's nada va superar a esa época, a pesar de que yo aun no nacía en esos tiempos amo esa musica^^

  • i love this song,a love 80 forever is music for heart

  • I picked this song for the theme of my junior prom. I remember thinking very highly of myself at the time . . . like I was a real cutting edge bad-ass. HA!

  • This vieo is like candy.

  • An 80's masterpiece! Great song and video.

  • esas la cantaba mi abuelito

  • I love this song.It brings back good memories and other good songs to my mind, but why Is it so hard to see the damsel's face on the video, and other videos of this same song.

  • @franchua100 fran when I think abvouthe mid 80's i think about how intereactive everyone was around me. no cell phones (at least in the people I knew) video game arcades mixed with discos was all the rage, everything, at least in my little world at the time was clean.

  • Beautiful pop. I really miss the times from whence it sprang. Might just be a case of raging nostalgia but the atmosphere seemed lighter.

  • @romanticwarrior97 The atmosphere seemed lighter because your waistline was probably trimmer.

  • @endgammer That and I was burning a spliff the size of my forearm.

  • @romanticwarrior97 Mine too!

  • Peter Care? He directed Bananarama's "Venus" too.

  • My favorite ABC track

  • I liked ABC's music. I still think it's awesome. That said, and they're from sheffield - so it may just be a homage and not a rip-off - but this video is leaning HEAVILY on Cabaret Voltaire's Sensoria video in which they do the cam "flipping" or whatever that is. orbiting. and the stop motion movement. See it. It's serious, though, not candy-arse. lol Love you, ABC.

  • @0pine0tron6000 Same director: Peter Care

  • @ckg242 Thanks for that. I was never aware.

  • how to kill a band: ok, abc, you had a great debut album, but the followup did poorly, so for your third album, we are going to add two non-performing individuals to your group: a pin-up girl and a japanese midget, and we will turn you into cartoons of your former selves.. we think this will boost sales. are you on board?

  • @zwartepiet412 I think YOU'RE a japanese midget. I don't see any japanese midgets in this video.

  • that guy likes to twirl alot hahaha.

  • 80s had good taste of music 90s not to bad. 2000s well let's just say some guys sounds like girls.

  • @laura20022004 And a great deal of those guys today sing with that nasal snarly voice that gives the same feeling as the scratching of a chalkboard and with no variety in style music. Thank the Lord for indie.

  • If you remember, for the most part, MTv only played punk,/new wave vids late at night. This song was mainstream though

  • Brings me back to a specific Friday night in early October 1985. I was sixteen and my gf was fifteen. Her parents thought I left but she let me back in when they went to bed just to lie on the couch and snuggle. We watched MTV til the early am to see punk and new wave videos. I think that night I was wearing a Smiths t-shirt and she had Billy Idol posters on her bedroom wall. What a night. What a year!

  • @endgammer hahaha awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • The band used a cartoon theme for most of the album "How To Be A Zillionaire"(1985)- including cartoon images of themselves. I think for this video they decided to portray themselves as having entered the "real" world from their cartoon world(crazy, right?).

  • muiiito bom!

  • Someone told me that on the album, the female drummer introduces herself and makes an obscene sexual comment. Is this true?

  • @Wiser72 Yup, In their Song "How to be a millionaire" (Remix 12" version), the band members introduce themselves... My name is Martin Fry...F-R-Y.... I'm David Yarittu, I may be tiny, but I'm Strong... Hi, I'm Eden....Kiss my "snatch"...

  • @virgil106 I had that 45 until my ex-punk rocker grrl stole it....is this song about S&M?? Someone explain this...I mean the whip sounds, 'tears' etc....holler please

Nunca alejarse demasiado. Y no desaparecen , No, no desaparecen.

"Estar cerca de mí o Be near me"

  • watching the red lips and black pantyhose of the drummer gave me a boner : /

  • OMG! plz tell me all these wankers are dead of AIDS!!

  • @303430 kharma is gonna catch up to you

  • This video is creepy. I don't like the way this guy looks....

  • @fatograph - well, welcome to the mid-1980's. Focus on the lyrics and not the people in the video; two of whom were simply hired talent. The message IS perfectly simple and it's meaning IS clear.

  • @hdwhit75 They hired more freaky people? For what reason. After watching this video again, this is worse than terrible. Although, I wish I had a jacket that made that noise when I moved my arms like that. The girl is cutem but the rest of this cast should be sent back to Planet Freakazoid.

  • @fatograph who cares about this guys looks,he sings!you use your ears to listen to him.

  • Sweet hair at 0:52.

  • While this was playing on MTV, I remember kissing and trying to get my teenage girlfriend naked on her mom's sofa, late on a specific Saturday night in September 1985. Her mom went to visit her dad in prison so we had the night to ourselves. He was in the mob and was a few years into a long prison sentence. We had just finished watching "Mafia Princess" staring Susan Lucci. We joked how she was a mafia princess. Sad but true.

  • F.Y.I.: Check out their video for "Vanity Kills"(U.K. Version) - the best(and funniest) video by this incarnation of ABC.

  • The little bald dude is David Yaritu- he's a gay midget photographer based in N.Y.(makes sense-lol).

  • The blonde female in this group is "gorgeous".Takes me back to the mid-late eighties when some females had that same look & style.

  • Is that an early Harry Hill? there's only one way to find out FIGHT!!..

  • I miss the 80's this song brings back lots of great memeries for me . Just wish I could go back to that year again and stay there .

  • Great classic video,I remember seeing this as a video on MTV as I kid. ABC rocks!

  • "How To Be A Zillionaire"(1985) was really a great concept album by ABC. The band even had cartoon images of themselves(including temporary fill-in's David Yaritu & Fiona("Eden") Russel-Powell) done, for both the album art and some videos of tracks from the disc("(How To Be) A Milionaire"). I really think ABC should have kept little man Yaritu & Russel-Powell, and just continued a good thing while it lasted.

  • I remember seeing this on MTV (that's when they played music videos) and thought how cutting edge and cool it was. I still think so!!! LOVE IT.

  • Great song!!! this one and WHEN SMOKEY SINGS are the best of ABC for me!!!

  • That chickis smoking hot

  • They play this one at work, aqnd now I really like it!

  • Love the comic book clothes, the jet-set mentality, and the phony instruments and even faker attempts at playing them that more resemble dancing.

  • i miss this time so much thank you abc for thease great song

  • sometimes I miss you 80's... sometimes... like right now!

  • College memories from this song....,ah..the mid 80's!!!!!

  • This is one WILD video, the haircuts, the outfits, everything! The band ABC should have kept it going through out the 90's; they would have been in The Hall Of Fame by now. Great job, Guys!

  • Oh Martin Fry!!! Be Near Me!!!

  • FYI" David Yarritu (little bald guy) & Fiona("Eden") Russel-Powell(blond girl), were hired by ABC for their unconvential looks on-stage & in videos. In Yarritu's case, it was his short stature, shaven head, oversized glasses and diminutive build. He was the lone American in the group. Today Yarritu works as a freelance photographer and is based in New York City. Both Yarritu and Russell-Powell had small spoken parts on some tracks from "How To Be a Zillionaire"

  • I think this was the best "incarnation" of ABC ("How To Be A Zillionaire" album, '85). The extra members, David(little bald guy) & Eden), really added visual interest to their videos and live concerts of the time. Check out the video "Vanity Kills"!

  • 70's so much better

  • @Orca40 Eden was supposed to be the lead singer of ABC, but she chickened out thus Martin Fry became the lead singer of ABC.

  • This is one of the best songs this group did. It sure rocked many a clubs back in the day! Great video! My college and club dancing music!

  • What times they were! We weren't in the messes we're in now in the 21st century. Here's to 1980's music. Hell even the 90's were good! Everything changed after September 11, 2001. This was 25 years ago.

  • @masterwork39 Not that there wasn't anything good immediately following Black Tuesday. It's just that now we're stuck with one rotting carcass after another.

  • I really like the style of this video....it still *looks* like a modern video (aside from the obvious 80's styles). Keep it simple and it you keep it timeless.

  • No por algo los que mezclaban en los 80s la ponian como pieza de apertura, es tan suave es simplemente inmortal

  • long live the 80's!!!!

  • over three years and no dislikes, that's how great this song is!

  • ...my dreams...that's it...but I needed...

  • Music like this will never come back. One of my top favorites in the '80s, best decade of my life! For real...

  • what's your reputation? ecstasy.

what's your destination? next to me.

  • @rtl4x4

    I know, RIGHT!!!

  • THE BEST ABC SONG!

  • thats a tall axx dude....

  • sissies

  • One of my top 10 favs of all-time.

  • Got to see Martin Fry and ABC back a couple years ago...he still has the voice...always liked them even back in the 80s...

  • You can definately hear an R&B influence, awesome track!

  • Isn't there another video to this song featuring cartoon characters entering the real world?

  • ABC should have changed their name to "AB" for this album, because only two permanent band members are left at this point, lead singer Martin Fry and multi-instrumentalist/backing singer Mark White.

  • beautiful melody, hey it's astroboy before he went solo

  • Buenisimos ABC ,uno de mis grupos favoritos del BRIT-POP. Parte de mi vida y de mis recuerdos.

  • I think this is one of the coolest visually interesting videos, and certainly, was most likely one of the best when they made it for sure!! The song is absolutely their best!

  • This track is sooooo pop smooth. It really is testament to ABC. The fact they dared to try many different approaches.. They really were (and still are) lovers of pop and are always open to and not scared of change......Sweet sweet music..AMEN

  • "Punks Are Cool"

  • @GoinCreekin As a punk of the time, yes, they are... However, this is not a punk band. Love the comment! :o)

  • @Ooothoseeyes I know ABC wasn't punk. I was punk at the time too, complete with a mohawk and a dirty, stinky flannel (which was a lot for the small town I lived in) but I was referring to the button on Fiona's hat. It says, "Punks Are Cool."

And yes, punks were cool...back then. ;)

  • @GoinCreekin Ahhh.... A person after my own heart! :o) You were truly a cool one. Sorry about my mistake there. I didn't notice the button~ *welp*~ :o/

  • @Ooothoseeyes You really don't need to apologize. I didn't take offense. I remember all the people who thought New Wave was punk.

  • @GoinCreekin They still are!!

  • @GoinCreekin Yes..all the same,,because we were all misfits. I'm glad I was.

  • It's a Fischer Price start your own band instrument set. I been humming this since VH1 played the video yesterday.

  • @pschroeter1 lol

  • @pschroeter1 VH1 doesn't play videos anymore and if they do this probably would not be one of them. Unless you meant VH1 classic.

  • @80sfreak1979 Wrong. It's on VH1 classics and MTV in the mornings. I see this quite often.

  • @Orca40

really? maybe they didnt want to look like other brit pop bands at the time, like PSB, Erasure: 2 guys (1 tall, 2 short) & a keyboard

my neice said the say same thing but i dont c it... it aint like a depeche mode / the smith's videos

  • I can deal with everything except the keyboardists' hair.

  • What's your reputation?

    Ecstasy.

  • @melibita fuginnnn brilliant!!

  • Almost as though the producer said "lets make the most 80's video EVER!"

  • @kaptainwarp thank God for that

  • Another incredible song of this group is "When Smokey sings", a tribute to Smokey Robinson.

Recommendation of the day: Listen it A.S.A.P., please!!

  • There are very few songs from the 80's that I still like today..but this is one of them..ah..college!

  • The 80s were so freakin' fun and cool.

  • video is still gay

  • @DEMONICAW11 So what if the video is gay? Would there be any concern if they were gay? What have they done to you to give such a reaction?

  • love uk 80's music..!

  • I love this sooong!!!!!! Im only 18 and the 80's IS a classic time period. I love everything about it.....-smh....2bad this is my era 2day.

  • A damn good group!

  • BEST ABC song by far.....in the top 10 80's tunes....such a great song!

  • Good point, HOT80s!!

Bowie sowed the seed...the seed of love...

  • I love them....still!

  • so cool

  • what's with the bass player? He kind of looks like the mini me six flags guy...im scared.

  • Best video.

  • Love this song in high school. Fun song of the 80's. Class of 1988

    Berkeley High in B-town California.

  • That was a long way from their suit and ties.

  • all this style wouldnt be possible without Bowie.

  • HAPPY AND GOOD TIMES!! 60´S,70´S and 80´S RULES!!

  • great memories from the day..grew up in the eighties..what a blessn

  • I remember this from American Bandstand when I was little.

  • My favorite ABC song.

  • Ah Eden....such a hottie. Like a 1980's Sherri Moon. Plus, she wants me to kiss her snatch.

  • one of my favorite bands ever!!

  • Comment removed

  • one of the top 100 songs of the 80`s !!!!

  • very cool mtv. 80's rule yippppeeeeeeeeeekayey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Epic... that woman called herself Eden..couldn´t play the drums, couldn´t sing..but she was in it... that was the 80ies...

  • I always loved this guy's voice.

  • Hit #9 pop, #11 AC in the US (Billboard). How''d it do in the UK? God bless!

  • @DEMONICAW11

if is gay, what the problem.. is for hear, not for other use.

  • @DEMONICAW11 your gay:)

  • @DEMONICAW11 your gay:)

  • One of the best songs ever recorded.

  • WOW!!! I just experienced time travel...

  • WOW!!! I just experienced time travel...

  • Love that song. Cool video. ^^

  • CLASSIC SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant showmanship. Excellent video. Awesome.

  • Oh my goodness, this takes me back...I wish I could go back to the 80s.

  • Back then, my mom loved their song "When Smoky Sings" off the same album. Martin is such a dreamy singer... Heard being interviewed by Steve Jones (of Sex Pistols fame) on the radio in recent years here in LA, and was still awe-struck driving in my car. This song is pure pop genius and beauty. They don't sing songs like this anymore...

  • I heard this on the radio the other day and almost lost it!!!! Love this song!!! ABC was the s**t!!!!

  • Who is that midget anyways?

  • @forty8r

David Yarritu. ABC had added two non-playing members to enhance the look of the band. They're only featured on the album How To Be A Zillionaire. Martin Fry later described it as a big mistake.

  • tha 80's are forever!

  • Doc K. from Germany say is one of my favourites.

  • great song

  • boy, do I miss the 80's!

  • Memories!

  • This is a beautiful pop song.

  • Your an ass and if you don't like what I said I don't give a shit

  • The girl, she's Marilyn Monroe's twin

  • @StarQualityWins u mean Marilyn Manson?

  • Still mad at Muse for ripping off the piano in the all my dreams came true part of the song.

  • I think this is a 1st class dance/pop song and a brave and imaginative video. It is also one of my many favourite ABC songs. In fact, I never tire of listening to this song and I am happy that America took this song to its heart. ABC rule!

  • @VanityKillsABC was this a hit in american?

  • @chevgr: yes, it did get USA radio station airplay, on what they called the "new Wave" radio stations, or what some wags called the "Wanna-be British" radio stations.

  • the guy in the red jacket is HOT!!!

  • Incedible Song of the 80s.
