I understand what you mean about the stories circulating around earth a lot. But there have been some episodes set away from earth - they haven't always been on earth.

i.e. Smith and Jones, 42, The Impossible planet/the satan pit, Midnight, Planet of the dead, The girl in the fireplace,Planet of the Ood, The Doctor's Daughter, silence in the library/Forest of the dead...there have been quite a few episodes that have nothing to do with earth.

Well put I just hope that Stephen MOffat makes his stories less earth bound. ALthough from what I have seen of the leaked material it appears only one is on a different planet. When are they going to have companions from different planets as well. In Peter Davisons Era we only had a couple that were from earth, peri and Tegan.
