  • awesome show and great car well done

  • I don't like the mat black with the overall finish, the orange is nice tho. Mat black not so much.

  • Those punks with the big old 22 inch rims on Caprices don't know jack! This is how its done!

  • i have a question can u please tell me the name of the color u used on this car is it a orange candy?

  • @TheSammyb111 Yes, the color is Orange and it is one of our Candy ColorZ.

  • I don't get it. Won't the clearcoat chip of on the edges??

  • My airbrush has a 0.21mm tip, can I use this paint?

  • @liwiathan yes, you can use DNA Candy ColorZ in a 0.21mm tip airbrush. No problem!

  • @DNAPaint Does paint actually go through the needle of an airbrush?

  • @liwiathan no, it goes around the tip and through the nozzle. You should be able to Google it and find out a lot more.

  • i hacve never shot flake before how much flake shoud i use on my cadi fleetwood... i want a heavy flake?? its going over a audi cherry black that has flake in it already... can i mix into the paint with more flake and then mix into the clear?

  • @dectrone Yes you can mix flakez into the base color but I wouldn't put more than a 100-150 micron, yes you could also mix it in the clear and shoot over the base. It will depend on how much you want the flakez to stand out but I would think that 2 jars should cover it nice. I would buy the small sample vial and do sprayouts to see how you want it to look and workout how much you are going to need.

  • @DNAPaint i want my roof like a bass boat, reall flaky.. the rest of the car i just want to pop out

  • @dectrone chk out my vid we just put some silver flake in the clear also some ice pearls

  • @dectrone When I add flake to regular paint I use about 1:1 volume.

  • this guy is a pro.

  • just wondering if u do training courses for your paints?? If so where do i find more info??

  • @Ballzy84

I believe you did get an email from us, but for the rest of you out there Yes we do run training courses as required. If you are interested please visit our web site and make contact with us from there.

    Cheers

  • interesting color combo looks great! what type of a booth is that seems like you have great airflow

  • @MrBrian8you

Yes it does have good flow, It is a full down draft Masterbooth.

  • should have painted the whole damn car

  • @musiclovr2

I agree! but its a bit hard to do in a quick tech tip video.

  • i allways tought the 32 was great when it was only black, with some pistriping. but you guys pulled it off with a little candy.

  • @ZombieSockHop

Thanks mate. Its amazing what can happen with a little imagination.

  • This a great job on this car. I used house of kolor on my 84 Cadillac and 3 oz of red metal flake for the bass boat look wow did I nail it. The ice pearl is what I'm curious about because it looks more detailed and shiny should I use the ice pearl on the finishing klear which I did on the flake Or can I get the same result doing the pearl over the base then klearing? Which gives the best result in your professional opinion?

  • hey what size is the tip on the gun spraying the flake?

  • Hi thakrazyone, The W400 had a 2.0ml tip on it. The bigger the flake the bigger the gun setup or it will block to quick..

  • Hey man I love you're work! I have a 1981 chevy camaro z28 that needs some paint bad. I want it candy apple red. How much will that cost me? Can you mix up the paint, and send it to me, and will that be cheaper buying the paint, then taking it to a paint shop?

  • Thanks for your comments. Sorry but we are unable to offer prices on paint jobs. For the paint we suggest you get quotes from the paint shop that will paint your car (they will know how much paint you will need) and also from an automotive paint supply shop.

  • you guys are masters at your work !!!

  • hi, doing the same job on a lambretta [dont laugh] just got my candy apple red ,, but looking for a base ,, would a glitter sliver work ? ps great job mate

  • A glitter silver would be awesome!

  • Nice gun, I use a w400 too.

  • where was this painted at?

  • This was painted in the DNA training centre Melbourne, Australia.

  • Awesome video DNA you rock ! very very interesting, i too am a hot rod huilder an painter, but i like ur videos an add them as favorites : )

  • Thanks for your kind comments. Glad you are enjoying the vids. What are you building and is there anything in our product range that intrests you the most?

    PAINT ON!

  • Thanks for posting these vids guys...

And thank you for your catalogue and stuff Especially the gloves... (nice touch)...

    Cheers,

    Paj.

Off of TopBanana Custom Paint :-)

  • Cool Bananas! We are glad you like the vids and we hope to get some new ones up there soon. Thanks for the positive feedback.

  • I would always recomend DNA Diamond Clear. It has great gloss, flow off the gun, exelent UV resistance (that protects the colour of your car but also extends the life of the clear itself) , and build.

If you are using flakes I would always recomend flow coating.

    Thanks for the question.

  • hi, what is the best gloss lacquer to use for shine and life? cheers

  • Liked the down draft paint booth

  • what kind of gun do you us for the flake?

  • For the flakez on the 32' we put them into a intercoat called Hi Definition Intercoat Clear and sprayed it through an Iwata W400 with a 1.8 setup. There are a few ways to spray flakez and it depends on the size of flake you use and what process you feel comfortable using.

  • how much does a good candy paint job cost

  • I am sorry but I can't give you a firm answer to that. Candy is more difficult to paint compaired to standard paint so I would ask for a quote from a paint shop that has painted candy before. And ask to see some of their work before giving them the job. Some shops might give you a cheap price but the work could be second rate. Go for quality I say.

Sorry for the delay mate. Thanks.

  • It mostly depends on the vehicle and how many clear coats you apply. If you go anywhere out of Texas, there's a 99.99% chance you are over priced. For example, my cousin has a 1996 Candy Blue Impala with 3 clear coats in Houston. He paid $3000. If you go to New York, my cousin went up there to visit and they told him $8-9000. We laughed in they're face and left! If you get charged anything over $5000 AND you are not in Texas, you are being led astray & bamboozled!

  • oh ok i live in houston

  • Yeah, the prices in Houston may be high for a "paint job" but the same paint job would be WAY OVERPRICED anywhere else. And to be truthful, my cousin payed $3000 ONLY because we grew up with him! He could have EASILY charged us $3800.

  • how long do u wait to add the clear??

  • I would wait no longer than 24 hours or if you are in a rush you should wait at least an hour. If you have a lot of coats of base you should leave it longer to let it out gas, otherwise if it is too wet when you clear it you may get loss of gloss or worse delamination of clear. DNA fx intercoat and candy FX reducer is formulated to out gas as quick as possible to help with that.

Keep on painting and good luck.

  • my whole 93 grand marquie ls is painted in that colour and it has custom white interior and tinted windows i just like to say wow i do love that colour i just love the flake on my car as well as yours. Also the body of the car has sliver and the black design to break up the 2 colours it all has flakes in the colour i just washed and waxed and buffed and boy does it shine. Great work boys keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for your encouraging comments, Yeah, we love the color and results too! I'm sure your 93 grand marquie turns a lot of heads.

  • I think House Of kolor is the best for candy paint

  • MMMM....I'm going to look on the website and price it out....the Mutant Crystals lok nice!!!

  • Do you guys have any dealers in the US?

  • Currently we do not have any distributors in the US. However we can ship anywhere in the world.

  • are dna paints and alsa corp paints the same product

  • No they are not the same! All DNA paints are manufactured by DNA in Australia.

  • how many coats of candy did u put on there

  • 4 coats (DNA Candy ColorZ - Orange) mixed at 10%
