Can someone please explain to me why Tommy's shield, when worn by anyone other than himself, offers someone additional powers, but has no such affect on when he wears it himself?

The reason why the others get a "power-up" when wearing Green Ranger's Dragon Shield is because he is in essence transferring some of his overwhelming power to the other Ranger

Green Ranger is also the Mightiest Power Ranger when introduced as the Evil Green Ranger, he was capable of single-handedly destroying the entire Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team. The writers weakened him when he became good otherwise the show would be renamed "MMGreenR" instead of MMPR lol

This was definitely one of the best episodes, and showed the legitimate differences between Jason and Tommy.

Jason was a lot more laid back and level headed (which made him the better leader), but had a bit of an ego. Tommy was more active and gun-ho in situations (which made him the ideal fighter), but always put others before himself.

And as this episode shows, Jason has more strength, but Tommy has more skill.

I agree with Tommy having more skill but I always thought Tommy was physically stronger, Jason was FASTER than Tommy that’s why he took the hill and Tommy had to ask Jason to wait up. Also in later episodes Tommy kicks a putty up a slide , something Jason never does, and takes out a football putty with just one punch or kick while Jason couldn’t even get them to halt with his attacks
