  • In 43 years old, I'm going bald, my bodies turning to crap, the financial crisis is steadily eroding my retirement savings, I drive a Volvo, but when I listen to this song I'm 17 again.

  • fucking great song

  • I had to trawl through so many songs called 'I want you back' It was worth it though to find this song.

  • this video was like the tyv show - 'land of the lost'. lol.

  • YYYAAAAYYY!!! I EFFING LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I use to go and see these play at Hendo's Hideawy in East Perth, Yhey were called the Victims with James and Dave Baker in the band and Ruddy on base. The good old days. Dave use to call himself Dave Flick in those days. I heard James was let go due to drinking to much, shame he was a great drummer,

  • loved em growing up, the hair & vests, gold shirts, & especially those twin gretsch guitars that were so bright & cut thru at pub venues, but as adult ,looking back do think the lyric has that classic easy stance of blaming the chick, ala stones, ie playing the victim, still maybe that's age showing thru!?

  • I, I, I, I, want yooou back. This just makes and old woman very very happy.

  • Thank God they lost their hair! lololololol

  • Here's a little known fact for all the tourists.

It's not the snakes, spiders, sharks and salties that you have to worry about.

It's the dinosaurs rocking out to the Gurus that'll get you every damn time.

  • Great song, Love the Hoodoo's for many moon's. But Dave look's like Mork from Ork ...LOL

  • gurus n dinosaurs on acid : welcome to australia

  • c'est pas brian jones à la batterie,c'est "dave" avant sa rencontre avec vanina

  • surf music das melhores, bandas q ja vi

  • EDIT!

  • ¡¡AHHHHH!!!!!......El año ´84....era tan feliz escuchando esta preciosa canción!!!!!.....

  • time machine. i'm sitting in my car cruising to work at the mall. 16 again.

  • I'm going to start my own radio station FOR THE PEOPLE like it used to be.

WAKE UP AUSTRALIA, its time to take this country back!!!

  • THIS IS THE BEST AUSSIE SONG EVER WRITTEN... PERIOD!!!!

Thank you, please vote for this : )

  • Easily the best Hoodoos song. Why do the commercial stations insist on playing that horrible 'what's my scene' when they could be playing this tune?

  • @CulturallyIrrelevant because we, as Australians, the most pure and fantastic bunch of people on this planet are ruled BY THE MEDIA (alla Murdoch and Packer) who don't have a musical bone in their fucked up bodies.... thank you :)

  • Fuck AC/DC, these guys are the best Australian band ever and this is possibly the best Australian song ever (okay, maybe you shook me all night long tops this, but thats it)

  • @lladsbid look mate i think gurus rock but don't you dare say fuck acdc, the acdc classics such as overdose, carry me home, touch too much and old stuff like that compleatley fuck the gurus up its not even comparable.

  • @orderoftheuglyband gotta say, not a fan of ac/dc. The only song by them i actually like is the one i mentioned. I like a whole lot of gurus songs, so, for me at least., the gurus are just the better band. AC/DC are just too overblown, they remind me of spinal tap.

  • @lladsbid you could be right about best aussie song ever. They were also one of the best live bands on the planet. IWYB was usually the song they'd come on with too.Interestingly, this must be the "single" version of the song, the album version has a longer 1st verse, after the "and forget what weve been through ' line, it continues with "its not that shes gone away, its the things that she has to say etc,,

  • @gregglesmegma I just noticed that it was shorter too! Missing the whole "It's the things that I hear she has got to say...about me...and about my friends"

Glad someone else noticed....thought I was losing it.

  • Where u been ?

  • "Vevo has blocked this video in your country" = garbage.

  • Where u been ?

  • Comment removed

  • not dead wood - just too rock.

  • This is true OZ rock at it's best. Saw the Hoodoos and Hunters and Collectors in 1987 Perth Entertainment Centre; brilliant night all round.

  • James was always his own man. Dont write him off, he has talent, just was in the wrong band,

  • interesting fashion from this period of the gurus and cutting edge video fx, love dave's silk(?) jockeyesque outfit. great aussie melodic rock

  • did james baker join the ramones???..ha ha

  • shove inxs best aussie band or the 80s

  • @akastuntfish Right on- INXSux!!

  • 1984 year 12 at Cobden Tech can't believe l got away with having hair like Dave's in this clip.Great live my ears were ringing for 2 days after l saw them at the Lady Bay Hotel Warnambool, great days.

  • Classic. Classic. F***ing CLASSIC.

  • Used to love watching these guys live. From Caringbah to Coogee and everywhere in between.

  • @brokenboy07 Another shirey... Yep, we had some awesome venues back then, workers, leagues, miranda, sutho, tradies, etc... Do any of them have live bands anymore?

How on earth caringbah inn had bands! The band room round the back was tiny!

Saw Spy V Spy there (amongst others - oils, angels etc) and you couldnt get to the bar! Nobody cared!

  • Excellent!

  • simple times XD

look at the bluebox ... lol

looks kinda crazy, but it's ok

  • is that Brian JOnes on drums?

  • James Baker - like Brian, he got nudge out of the band for becoming 'dead wood'.

  • @nzoz1984 Brian Jones dead wood? If dead wood means useless, I think you are pretty wrong,,,,

  • @nzoz1984 He's my gardener, now. And a damn good one at that! =D

  • @nzoz1984 dead wood? ummm what lol

  • @doragzzzz I think the way it was expressed at the time was "too consistently pissed to hold a reliable beat"

  • @HeadlandRoad ahhh fair call thanks mate :)

  • desde paradise disco san antonio ibiza españa youtube...la honorable sociedad

  • Io li stra-adoro!!!troppo mitici

  • Adoro Hodoo Gurus !!!!!!!!

  • one of my late band's (RIP Psychotic Hamsters 1983-1989) fave cover tunes.

  • Saw them supporting the Electric Pandas at Newtown RSL a bit before this (82) and I remember seriously big scary hair that night...very different to the hairstyles of all the mods in the audience that night.

  • One of the first songs i learnt to play on guitar...

    Much respect ....

  • Pra sempre Hoodo Gurus!!

  • Eu AMOOOOOOO essa música!!!

  • i love those big guitars

  • fuck mid eighties fleuro's and shit were fucking epic , 84 ,if i recall correctly .

Gurus ruled for fucks sake .

  • @robyonder I thought fleuro came a bit after, up to 87 or something. The Gurus wouldnt have been into that in any case, they always had their own thing going.

  • @ozoneocean you are indeed correct. yeh thats right. Not into that? I dont know man looking at that video looks like they had something to do with it?

  • hoodoogurus doooooooidu memu.

  • Brings back great memories......I remember when I had identical hair!! LOL.

  • I remember when I *had* hair.

  • i have hair a bit like that now, feck!

  • Epic Hair

  • man, this was a crappy video, but the Guru's were an awesome band!! college rock is dead, long live college rock!!!

  • They were the loudest live act I ever heard. So loud that all the gorgeous melodies got lost, which was a shame as they are the best things about their songs generally. Catchy beats too of course.

  • Killa song!

  • Ah the nights at The Trade Union Club with Le Hoodo Gurus and Dave with an enormous quiff - good times!

  • James Baker on drums - the man is a legend.

  • I had to look it up (wikipedia), but James Baker drummed for The Scientists, Beasts of Burbon and ... THE DUBROVNIKS!

I remember seeing The Dubrovniks at the Trade Union Club doing Ca Plane Pour Moi, always a favourite.

    What a dude.

  • Favourite Hoodoos song-favourite clip

    thanks!!!

  • love the big hair!

  • if you could post the b side to this.

  • great song. funny clip

  • Brilliant song, hilarious early 80's style video. Thanks for bringing back some great memories!

  • *adds video to her IPOD* thanks SO much :D

  • I like Simon F's version better.

  • I like the Jackson Five's version better than Simon F's.

  • WTF!!?

  • That was refering to the Simon F. comment.

  • I'm so thankful to have seen these guys in this era....and so happy to see this video....very overlooked..

  • Some punter on here remarked that they enjoyed the Simon F version better. Do take a gander at that monstrous attempt.

It takes one odd robot to prefer Simon F to these deadset legends from down under.

  • this song makes me tense up my face when i hear it its so awesome. you know a good song when it causes you to do things with your face i think. but i also have a nervous twitch so my judgement may be impaired on that

  • He has Robert Smith hair

  • i no! how funny!!! ...its all gone now tho :)

  • hoodoo gurus foda demais..

  • Love the hair!! Brings back memories! Great song and probably the most under rated band of all time!

  • stands the test of time, every time!

  • Eu também quero voltar .....Hodoo os verdadeiros dinosauros da surf music..

  • que no se pierda esta joya saludos in youtube la honorable sociedad

  • Thanks for the posting! I never knew there was a video for this song. With the dinosaurs in the background it reminded me of the Sid and Marty Kroft's "Land Of The Lost." I thought Chah-Ka was going to come out of nowhere and appear on the scene.

  • I simply love Hoodoo Gurus... my favorite song is ZANZIBAR... =)

  • Dancin with dinosaurs but hoodoos not extinct

  • My favourite Gurus track. Brad & Dave's hair, what's goin' on there?
