According to Siimens, the ECO Mode and ECO Mode Plus function independently and can be used together. You have demo'ed ECO Mode Plus - all transmissions stop between calls - but ECO Mode is also worth activating as it will reduce DECT pulsed microwave transmissions by 50%-80% (when they on), which seems wotrhwhile having too: see gigaset (dot) com/uk/en/cms/PressRelease_ECOPlus_20090123.html or tinyurl (dot) com/gigaset-eco for short.
So far I haven't been able to get clear on whether gigasets outside of Europe, eg USA have this full functionality or not. Maybe someone could check.
I got a 3 handset Gigaset A785 set refurbished on ebay ('Telephones Online' ebayer/shop) for just £39.99 delivered (rrp £149) and gave it to my (semi-detached) neighbours as their DECT phone was driving us nuts and making us very disorientated, and getting bad heart arrhythmias every night etc. After they installed it, it was BLISS!!!
But dont put your device too close to radiation source - you will ruin your speaker there and after that very small signals will be undetectable with this device - speaker will be ruined for these jentle hisses.
Radiation wise, this phone (in echo mode) is better than a regular DECT phone, but it is just as bad as DECT phone or mobile phone when you use it to have a conversation.
@NoRadBlog Correct!! I wouldn't use one, but they're great to give to your close neighbours. Occasional blasts from them while they are on the phone don't really affect us, it's the constant 24/7 irradiation/ blasting that makes us sick.
@freejohnuk HI, This is what I do, I buy htese eco dect phone tor my nighbours that are happy for a new phone and don't care about the RF EMR while talking. For me it is an improvment becasue, as you said, the constant 24/7 RF irradiation is stoped.

Has it got dynamic range reduction? ie. reduce signal depending on distance?

Yes it is. I won't have any Dect or Wifi in my home. They're insecure and probably bad for you too... Wired versions every time for me.
