  • I'm an American, more specifically a North American, more specifically a United States citizen, more specifically - well, you get my point.

  • omg thats amazing it hardly even sounds like him!!!!!!

  • That was very good, actually

  • Okay, I'm sure it's like this with every accent, but it's so weird to me to think about what people from other countries have to do to mimic an American accent. You know, because I've lived here my whole life and to me, I don't hear any accent at all. I'm sure it's probably just like how Americans try to mimic British accents but it's still so strange to me.

  • that just made me produce a sincere giggle.

  • Pease keep the conversation clean... Thank You

  • Matt Smith has an American accent now. American accents are cool.

  • @exterminatalie8 You are right... Ha! that is a good (if not great) one!

  • What O_O

  • whoa.

  • Yeah it was! lol. me being American it's funny to think that theydo Amercain accents like Americans do British accents.

  • wow, that actually really good! XD!

  • He always makes his voice deeper when doing the accent.

  • One of the best American accents I've heard. (I am American so I would know)

  • I have an american accent now. American accents are cool

  • Whenever a british person does an american accent, I always think "man, us americans have such a stupid accent!" Whenever an american dos a british accent, I think "man, them british are so fancy-shmancy. I hate that accent!" But whenever someone speaks their own accent, it just sounds normal. That is because one always exaggerates the other's accent.

  • it sounds like hes switching between acents in the middle of a sentance. it wasnt bad, but you could tell it was forced.

  • Is it just me, or does Matt's American accent sorta sound like George Clooney?

  • He's a 10.

  • how come the british do our accents so easy and we cant do thiers at all

  • @TheJes8p I think i's because the majority of TV shows and movies over here are American so we pick it up easily because we hear it everywhere :-)

  • Matt Smith, you just got ten times hotter.

  • @MikaXKempo I SAID THAT TOO <3 His voice goes deeper when he does an American accent. it's sosososo hot <3

  • It's an American accent. I speak in an American accent now, accents are cool.

  • @Brawn601 I'm not stupid! T_T

It was a joke, I was saying it like Matt Smith as the Doctor would probably say it. I probably should have put quotations around it.

  • @Brawn601 Heh, I guess this would be a bad time to say that I'm actually American... ^-^; But I'm not good at accents at all really. My British accent sounds like some stereotypical old butler. :/

  • Isn't it a tad bit sad that he can speak in an American accent better then many American's?

  • @SuperPandahz Americans. No possessive.

  • K, when he said 'ya, ya it's cool'

did anyone else think he sounded like Scott Gill?

    ..no?..just me then.....

    (totally sounds like Scott Gill)

  • My word that is really good actually

  • @redberonorcrowley, thats because americans CAME from britian.

  • Ahhh! Best british almost slightly new york sounding accent ever!

  • THAT"S BLOODY BRILLIANT!

  • I have an American accent now, Americans are cool.

  • @ThePineappleSplash Why thank you good sir.

  • @darkwarrior303 You're welcome old chap.

  • His American accent is so cute! XD

  • omg!!!!! HAWT!!!!!!

  • ...*DEAD*

  • Matt's accent sounds like a New Yorker or Chicago accent, while David's accent was more of a southern accent, probably because of that book he was reading.

I think its unfair to label all of our dialects as one american accent, but then again, we do seem to label all english accents into group as well.

  • His American accent is HOT.

  • So, British people do American accents in their free time. Whotta twist.

  • He has my stamp of American Accent approval.

  • Haha, that was pretty good!!

  • well done, matt, this american approves

  • He sounds completely American... and, yes, this is coming from an American. That's awesome!

  • gotta say in all honesty, Matt's American accent is better than David Tennant's. not that i don't love David, it's just his American accent sounds really southern

  • I literally screamed " OH MY GOD!" XDDDDDDD

  • I can do a British accent :) (And Scottish, and Irish, and German - a bit - and...)

  • @VenusAdela No such thing a British accent. There are over 10 completely different variations across the country.

  • @hamnet99 So I've heard. Still, despite the similarly drastic variations among American voices, many still refer to a generic "American accent" when referring to any American dialect.

P.S. - Is your username a Shakespeare reference?

  • Jesus Christ... he sounds.. NORMAL!? WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY?

  • When he said cool, it didn't register that he'd already switched into American. I was busy fan-girl spazzing because Matt Smith just used the word "cool" in real life.

  • @thatwhichisgiven i know right i didnt notice it either

  • Am i the only one who actually recognizes the host?

  • Honestly, I would never suspect he was British if he used that accent here. :)

  • That was both frightening and fantastic at the same time.

    :D

  • whos matt smith

  • @RomanianDaci doctor who

  • @RomanianDaci

The Doctor (from the long-running British scifi series Doctor Who).

  • @EnigmaDrath oh, I never watched it. I refuse to support british entertainment

  • @RomanianDaci

No skin off our nose. Your loss :)

  • i freaked out, omg that was scary! out of all the monsters hes beaten, this is by far the scarest!!

  • wow, he sounds pretty flawless with an american accent.

  • O.O....WHEN THE HELL WAS THIS AND WHY WASN"T I INFORMED?! damn i need to start watching televsion again and not netflix......

  • He says everything is cool... I'm becoming suspicious that hes taking the roll of the Doctor all to his head... He must be EXTERMINATED!

  • ...EPIC.

  • My GOSH. When he does the accent, he sounds about 18. Like him better with his own accent. Sounds completely authentic, though. :)

  • Americas cool

  • Holy crap, he sounds exactly like Troy Baker.

  • holy hell, he actually sounded American..... you guys, I'm scared. but I can't stop watching this...

  • He sounds like he's from near New York.

  • ...*dies from overdose of awesome*

  • Damn it, why do the British do our accents better than us?

  • @redbaronorcrowley

They invented the language. They can do ANYTHING with it.

  • @redbaronorcrowley

Plenty of foreigners can do a bang-on American accent because of the prominence of the American media in the rest of the world. Many grew up watching American movies/shows and listening to American music. On the other hand, Americans don't take in a lot of UK/foreign media, so they aren't as (properly) exposed to other accents.

And then there's Dick van Dyke's attrocious contribution to the American perception of the English accent XD

  • @EnigmaDrath

i watch as much British shows as i can and i can not even come close to faking a British accent..even with that explanation i am still baffled at how they can do an American Accent so well.

  • @MrCrankypoed

But you probably haven't been watching British shows from a very young age. I grew up on Aruba, where we get American cable, and while my natural accent is distinctly Caribbean, I can easily do a convincing American accent because I've been exposed to it all my life.

A more controversial theory is that a general American accent is easier to imitate than an English one, but I do not personally agree with that.

  • @EnigmaDrath

    Very true..

I'm just Jealous that i cant fake another accent... :(

  • @MrCrankypoed Well, do you have an ear for language? Because that certainly would help cultivate accents.

  • @Fromundra i like to think i do..but that may not be the case..

    :)

  • @EnigmaDrath He's defended himself by pointing out that his coach was Irish though. In total fairness, an Irish accent coach would still have notable exposure to an English accent, but still.

  • his voice sounds way more husky and attractive in an american accent..

  • he makes a very convincing American

  • You know who has an awesome american accent...Mark Sheppard!, he could pull off any accent... Matt, well needs a bit work.

  • When he says "I could try" It actually sounds like this guyyyyy called Patrick Fabian. O How I love Matt :D

  • I think I'm... attracted to that.

  • @mld566 I know *i* aaaammmm

  • can someone tell me the name of this show? thank-you :D

  • @GRAEMEMCFORLIFE Doctor Who.

  • Sounded like Matt Smith's IQ dropped when he did that. What does that say about Americans? lol

  • I came into this video thinking, "This gonna be horrible", I heard him and I looked just like this O_O

  • It's a little strange sounding, but a ton better than most people would do.

  • Oh he's very good, surprisingly. I didn't even think about it, I was just kind of listening until he starting speaking in a British accent again and I was like,"Oh...well played, very nice."

  • Matt Smith... that's not a bad American accent... Not bad at all.

  • Haha thats actually pretty damn good!

  • Wow his accent is pretty good xD

  • he sounds like paul wesley just saying

  • oh my god, he sounds so different! I love it!

  • God, I hate American accents. They are horrible and in no way attractive. I wish I was born in England. haha

  • @xHermione31x Nobody's keeping you here. Nobody wants you here.

  • @Supermassively

    Don't gotta be a cunt. :P

  • @xHermione31x You're a cunt for being a whiny, self-hating American.

  • @Supermassively

Hahahahahaah because I hate American accents? I don't think they sound appealing. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So, you can piss off now. :) Go harass someone else via youtube comments. :) buh-bye.

  • @xHermione31x No, because you're a whiny bitch. Get the fuck out or get over it.

  • It's kinda sexy... And indeed it's WAY better than Tennant's American accent. XD

  • WWWRJJJTRHYRTLDKFLHHHHHHJFFFD

  • As an American, it's not half bad.

  • It might be strange but I really LOVE when he says "It's cool." I don't know why I just love it.

  • Put Matt Smith in New York. Midwesterners wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

  • ahh him without the accent is so weird, haha

  • His accent is PERFECT.

    Too weird.

    (:

  • Sounded just as American as anyone I've ever met (I'm American btw)

  • It's cool, like a bowtie.

  • @Al5ezdlt Its awesome! By the way fez hats are cool!

  • @petescan321 Stetsons.

  • i can see him playing an American...his accent is very good.

  • his voice completely changes! so weird :D

  • @DookieLiquid Have you seen Charlie McDonnell's American accent? It's so scary it actually seems accurate.
