  • ROFLMAO !!!

  • YAY

  • Tune your guitar...You bastard..

  • Thanks buddy for a great tutorial, it was a fantastic help :))

  • Dang bud. I give it to you for the effort but as a couple mentioned, please tune it just before the creation of a vid. For some reason I learned a slightly different chord progression....

    Good luck!

  • Gotta say too Dude. Doesn't matter what anyone says here in comments below, I would hazard a guess not one have a vid on YouTube with over 170,000 views. Respect. You must be doing something right :)

  • Holy Shit It's Holy Shit

  • OMG..., finally found the ORIGINAL Bob Dylan version of this song (serch after this):

"Bob Dylan- Dont Think Twice It's All Right (original) "

The song takes 3:40, and is not the first on the list......

  • jeez some people on here are so harsh. Would you say that stuff to his face or do you just rag on people in cyberspace? Show some kindness, or at least just constructive criticism.

  • here your the only one who teaches the finger picking right , but need to tune the guitar and the capo on the 4th fret but other wise brilliant tutorial thanks

  • dude tune it, and the chords are C, G, Am, F, C, G and D7 later on not D9

  • i love this thanks. not fancy just straight.

  • his guitar sounded alright. I just wish I could get past the strong (i'm an aussie) english accent. And his finger style was good!

  • wrong key, wrong chords, wrong finger picking,.......alot of the chords are inverted... and it goes C/G,G7-Am,Am/G-F-C/G-C/G,G7-Am,Am/G-D7/F#-G.... here man if your gonna teach someone to play a song tune your guitar first, and also learn the song

  • @doyler6969 yeah mate make your own version and maybe you might have a leg to stand on - this was good, and he's got good picking style.

  • how can you give a lesson when your guitar is not even tuned

  • ITS CHUNK FROM THE GOONIES !!!

  • you've GOT to be able to hear how out of tune your guitar is? seriously, tuning up isn't that demanding...

  • It would be nice if the guitar was in tune.

  • Holy shit...its Delia Smith

  • sawyer can you teach us some lady gaga

  • thanks alot!!

  • he looks stoned man

  • r u stoned?

  • totally out of tune :DDD

  • Is this the "Gay Beatles" hairdoo Demitri Martin speaks of.....No offense, i love the the Beatles, It just seemed to fit

  • He doesn't play any form of a D in the song. Aside from that, good show. Also, if you want to make tutorials more understandable (I do this in mine, just because some people learn more visually) use annotations. 4 stars, mate.

  • well because dylan doesn't play the song in this position. but if you were playing it there (don't have a capo) then wouldn't you use the D9 it sounds like that chord.

szwag, fuck you dude, you tune your guitar, and let the kid have his 15 minutes. this is is 10 of them.

  • Tune this guitar first. :P

  • cant work out if hes south african or a posh stuttering drunk

  • He's a Geordie. Very obviously.

  • What did you say?

  • thanks for the lesson, that's great

    ;)

  • I don't understand the type of people who try to make themselves clear by putting the maker of the video down.

What would it feel if you'd done your best to make people learn some song, and then someone comes and says things like "Fuck off!" "You suck!" "Why the fuck you didn't do that and that?" And usually they don't even have balls to put their own videos here...

I really appreciate everybody who try to make people learn songs, and not just showing off their skills.

  • capo 3!

  • @LeDZeP616 capo 4 fucking idiot

  • fuck off all u twats commenting on his tuning if ur such fucking experts why not put ur own vids on? ill tell u why not,cos he's probably better than u all . i use a digital tuner and he has taught me this well. this man is my hero, everybody with a negative comment im coming round your house to beat the shit out of you very soon, run and fucking hide!

  • your a bitch

  • ill make u my bitch fool

  • no, your a bitch dude, his vids good if i could hear it

  • Well, it IS crazy out of tune. And the your comment just shows your ignorance in the subject.

  • Is your guitar tuned down a half step?

  • thank you paul mc cartney

  • by yemity yawly shore, ya betcha!

  • hahaha XD =^_^=

  • Tone deaf. Yea, you lost me aroun 00.02

  • wow out of tune so bad, it hurts my ears

  • guitar's so out of tune. how are you supposed to play along to that guitar?

  • LOL. Keep the head :). This is almost a brilliant lesson of a very tricky travis picking song and you are right the tuning is not standard which is a terrible shame. It seems to be tuned down about 2 steps. Just tune your 1st string to his first and tune the rest of your strings to that. Thats a bit of hassle but for DTTIA I think its worth it . MartinJ must not care for standard tuning or does not know about it which I find hard to believe as he sure knows his stuff here. 5*

  • Yea, right I see, it's tuned one step down to Eb. And yes it's not tuned perfectly but I dont think that matters. Take a look at Lowdenjim there for the finished article.

  • yeah real strange tuning , I had to put a capo on the 1 frett (in drop D) to get close...

  • first of all tune this guitar

  • the D9 is supposed to be a D7.

but play it however you want.

  • are you sure about the A on the 5th? on ultimate guitar it's all open chords and sounds perfect.. no D9 either. Just wondering?

  • not bad but your guitars out of tune

  • I appreciate your effort and intention young man. You have shared enough of what your heart desires. Thank you and keep it up for we are in a continuous process.

  • Very nice work man, I'm getting a little lost around the 6:00 minute mark but I'll get it figured, don't listen to any of the negatives these other people post, just keep playing and hopefully teaching, you're a great teacher, thanks for posting this, one of my favorite all time songs, all hail Bob.

  • its stevie from east bound and down!

  • ha ha ha

  • you are such a twat

  • lol, I love your little speech at the start. Very good teacher. Keep it up.

  • oh my God

    string G is hm...... valid

this is very bad video buha ha

  • Did anyone else notice that the fretboard on this guitar looks huge. I know its probably meant to be a fingerpicking guitar like a grand auditorium but wow it looks very big

  • its a classical guitar

  • hahah

  • What`s the third chord, Didn`t hear what he said.??

  • A minor.

  • These guys are all idiots. These are the correct chords.

capo on 4th fret and no capo at all sounds the same if you're not listening to the recording anyway. The only difference is the sound of plucking the strings, the notes sound essentially the same unless you have perfect pitch. And if these guys had perfect pitch they wouldn't be on youtube looking up guitar lessons.

Don't worry about these assholes man, this is a good lesson. Thanks for the help.

  • The acoustic guitar is a fantastic instrument that benefits from creative use of a capo to get a variety of colours. For example - playing D chords with the capo on 5th fret (especially using dropped D on the 6th string) to play in the key of G sounds very different to playing using G chords without a capo. You certainly don't need perfect pitch to make a clear distinction. The notes are the same, but sound VERY different, because you're playing a different octave.

  • that's what I said... Of course the notes are the same. The only difference is the string tension.

What I meant was that you could play a song on any fret and it will sound good with a capo. The difference between capo'ing the first or second frets is indistinguishable to most guitarists who don't have perfect pitch. Obviously if you capo at like the 7th fret you would be able to tell though. But even then you could play without a capo and it would still sound great.

  • I'm more worried about his tuning than wether he plays with a capo or not, its painful to listen to. Anyways, its definitely a noticeable difference without the capo, changes the whole feel of the sound completely.

  • You look like Paul McCartney lol.

  • its not a d9 its a d7 man 2nd fret on the G 1st fret on the B and 2nd on the E

  • This is not how to play it - try "Coldironsbound" instead. You need capo on 4th and fingerstyle technique. Not everyone knows that Dylan didn't play guitar on that track...

  • how do you know that he didn't?

  • The guitar player was Bruce Langhorne. He played also on "Corrina Corrina" and "Girl from the North Country". If you listen closely and objectively it's easy to distinguish this style from Bob's (especially at that time). Bob's playing was pretty crude back then; it's much improved now of course, but he still can't play like that. Bruce was a great session player, and Bob owes him a great deal.

  • always wondered why he played "dont think twice" just strumming along on the gaslight tapes, while he plays other songs fingerpicking (barbry allen, rocks n gravel and so on)

  • When the song was recorded, Dylan was a very basic guitarist, though he had great rhythm which is the most important element of course. He was basically a strummer, but could knock out good bass runs with a pick. His finger style playing developed a bit later, but it was never up to the standard of the beautiful playing on this track on the Freewheelin' album, along with the other Langhorne based tracks.

  • Wtf you're wrong dylan played on girl from the north country... I'm almost sure of it. That G thing Bobby does where he hammers on to the lower strings can be seen in many of Dylan's songs like Tomorrow is a long time.I know Bruce Langhorne played in Don't think twice though. But did you know that Dylan wrote mr. tambourine man for bruce?? Is that why he says "play a song for me" in mr. tambourine man?

  • Didn't know that - interesting; maybe you've got a point there, though Dylan always says don't read too much into his lyrics!

Fingerstyle guitar-styles are like fingerprints. I hear Bruce's fingers on Girl from the North Country...

  • looks like a young Paul Mccarthy, good job but use a tuner.

  • this kid is fuckin awkward

  • capo 4th fret ya gobshite

  • yo man ur guitar is way out of tune and try using a capo on the 4th fret

  • 3rd string is too low. 2nd string is to high.

(in my opinion) plz tune it right the naxt time.

    but tx fr psting.

  • OMG you're amazing

  • Nice job Martin. The great thing about fingerpicking is that it's not set in stone and you can throw in some nice sounding notes here and there. Thanks for sharing. (This was the song that inspired me to learn fingerpicking.)

  • this guitar sounds not well tuned ;D

  • someone answer my question pretty please.

  • You make it complicated for no reason when you start explaining the G and G7... its nearly impossible to understand. At least I don't get it. Can someone enlighten me? D9 than G... then at g7 to c7th part I get confused. I wish it was explained just like you explained the rest of the progression. I am not trying to be a an ass, it just isn't clear to me.

  • G is 6+3 4 6 1 6 1 2 4 1 6 2 4... then G7 is what? c is what? c7 is what? I am lost on that part. Can someone please tell me?

  • m8 dont worry bout this vid. its pretty shit try sumin more like E, Bb, Cm, F#, F#7, Bb, B7,E, Bb, Cm, A, E, or sumthin close to that, ther r sum more bar chords in it tho if u can hck that, othrwise, check out ultimate guitar tabs, im pissed off theres no right hand technique.
