  • the catheter should be aspirated to demonstrate the pt's blood prior to injecting heparinized saline through it to ensure that you have fluid-fluid interface and are not injecting air into a pt's heart that may or may not have a patent foramen ovale (30% of the general population)

  • Great concise video. I'm an Emergency Physician and I directed my resident to review this video prior to the IJ attempt(without US). Nice job!:)

  • Your patient looks a little dusky.

  • they did not even measure the length of the guidewire befiore insertion.

  • no need for local anesthesia, patient is on general anesthesia.
