nice car!! but i think with that kinda power you need an E153 tranny upgrade to handle the torque plus FI car don't really need a close ratio gearbox cuz they got hella power to push through the longer gears
I thought this was a k20/24 swap. Since i'm not a fan of the newer miata's and the s2000 is too heavy, the lotus is a good choice. So this is a stroked 2zz with 11psi? I'm impressed
Have you had any reliability issues with this setup? I've been thinking about doing a build similar to this, and I'm wondering how far you can push it...
this is a 2zzge toyota engine? sounds like a cam profile change when you initially accelarate off have you changed any of the internals? do/did you run at anymore than 9psi?
yes 2zz engine, Standard cam although cam is controlled by the Motec. Engine has a longer stroke to make it almost a 2L and yes currently running about 11psi... any more and it kills gear boxes.
Hello! You've got a great car! But tell me something: how did you do to increase power from 220hp to 400? Did you change the 1.8 Toyota or is it stock engine?
Yes, it does run a muffler, and it does run a large hi-flow cat as well. Muffler is locally made, and the rest of the exhaust made in house by Southern Motor Works.
this is such a nice car to drive ,perfect to do heel and toe while you're racing on a track ,it looks like an easy car to drive it moves like a fly it turns fast in any direction man I love it,my boss has one and it is incredible to drive.obviusly I drove the exige S supercharged 240hp can't imagine how better a 400hp turbo can be
What are those flashin lijhts? Sorry my jee button is disfunctional atm, and I'm not a car fanatic. Are those flashin lijhts used to tell the driver when to shift?
The top row that lights up from green to red is a shift light, and I would take a wild guess that the one on the bottom right hand of the display is hooked up to the knock sensor.
wicked fast car, too bad they don't show the dyno chart below 5000 rpm, it'd be interesting to see if it has any balls in the low rpm, or if it has power like a light switch.
wow that thing will kill ya if you don't respect it....no side curtain wall airbags in this. if you have more money than driving ability you should stick to an AMG lol :)
Only thing I would say is that the Exige is an already fantastic car.... on a tight track It's up there with the best supercars in the world.
Adding so much more power could well upset the refinement in the handling but it's sure to provide the thrills when you get a chance to open it wide :)
2006+ for Exige S2. 1.8l Toyota 2zz-GE motor. I have a 2005 Lotus Elise with the Forcefed kit. Mine is still at stock boost levels because I don't have a standalone ECU.
My car right now will do 100 in less than 9 seconds every time, and its only ~240whp.
Exige weighs about 100lbs more than the Elise, but has downforce improvements(front splitter and rear wing) and a different roof.
That motor isn't made to take more than about 300hp as is the chassis. I assume it can be detuned to that level to keep everything balanced and reliable...?
Everything was done by Southern Motor Works (SMW) in NSW Australia. The base kit is a Forced Fed 275 Turbo kit which has been extensivly built apon by SMW to get it to 400hp and tuned by them with a Motec M400 ECU.
IF you dont mind me asking, how much did that cost:O did you buy the car brand new then get it tune by southern motor work or what dont have to answear the price bit but just how you got their lol.
I was reading up on the ForceFed 275hp package and was planning to get that. Did you use that and added other engine components and tuned it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there also a ForceFed 400hp turbo package as well?
You could probably swap the stock straight-4 with an iron block 4 from an evo with heavy mods, or maybe even a supercharged V8 from a Cobra 'Stang. I don't know why the Exige isn't used more in racing. It's better than a Hachiroku if you ask me.
Lotus made one car that was front wheel drive. The Lotus Elan M100. 3855 were made. 559 imported to the U.S. Production started in 1989 and ended in 1992. This car is known as the S1. The first and only Lotus FWD.

Very Driveable and predictable, power delivery is very smooth, Traction isn't a problem in the dry.
