  • We are looking forward to experiencing WYOMA's wonderful African dance workshops, in Istanbul soon!!! Worth flying here, if you live in a country close by...

  • For those who are curious about this - it may help to place some tips on here about how to "consciously release" and let your body "unconsciously flow". Thanks!

  • Wyoma is in Istanbul between April 18-24, 2011 for African dance workshops!!!...

  • but what if your body doesnt allow you to dance like you dear lady?you have a body that is used to it and u move like well as if it is natural.i love to dance and was almost a dancer.but i got fat and overweight now i have a hard time doing it.i like it though.

  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Now, if I can just teach this almost 50-year-old body to isolate and express those movements. Hah! :-)

  • @trane608 You can! I used to dance in an African Dance company with several Mamas who were 50+. They were really good. Start slowly. Stretch DAILY & move daily. You can do it.

  • @OsunK2 You're absolutely right! I'm already very active and in excellent shape, so it's just a matter of learning new ways of moving. I appreciate the encouraging words. Peace to you. <3

  • I love this beautiful African Sister. She is bringing healing to the world people and the planet through dance Mojuba Orisa,Mojuba O, Mojuba Orisa

  • beautiful and true!

  • Autism Movement Therapy is based on "Music Movement & Dance" which

connects so much with this video.

  • this is my fav. africa dance tape because it easy to follow and it teach you sooo much.

  • I dig it. But is there a version for guys?

  • Comment removed

  • @bamb00sage It's a version for everyone. At least half the dancers in the intro to the video are men.

Just dance. Relax and allow yourself to move and flow with the rhythms of the drum, the rhythms of life, your own breath and heart beat. The movements will help to open the natural flow of chi. Dance has long been part of tribal peoples' ways to keep their bodies supple and healthy, and raising their spirits. Its not a woman thing, nor a man thing, but a human thing.

  • @yeshesdevi Thank you /\

  • it beautiful so natural and relaxing; remembering our ancestors;

  • Another excellent sharing. Thank you.

    blessings and wonder,

    CG

  • ok, so where in Africa is this from? , you know Africa is a continent right. In Nigeria alone there are over 300 tribe... 'African healing dance' lol wow

  • Excellent dancer.

    And Very Excellent teacher.

She breaks it down so well.

  • She's amazing! Wow!

  • This video is so enlightening and educational. It connects our body spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally moving on points of the Tree of Life of our chi into understanding the natural inner resource of healing of our true selves.

  • sister you're look truely fit..I love this!

  • you shouldnt say "African dance" afica is a continent not a country, each country in africa has their own traditions, language, and culture..its the most diverse in the world. Egyptian, morroccan, sudanese algerian is not like ugandan, nigerian, kenyan and ghaninian. we never call irish dance "european dance" so dont do it to africa.

  • @markee871 In this case African dance is a universal term for the continent, let the other stuff go. I could see this argument if it was referring to the languages

  • @Bellamora72001 I am from Africa, and you wont believe how many ignorant people think africa is a country! africa is diverse in its language, culture, people, traditions, etc. I think "African dance' is wrong and is promoting misconceptions and ignorance, my country's dance is nothing like ugana, egyptia dance is nothing like nigeria, morroccan dance isnt like botswana..we are all different!

  • @markee871 I do overstand and hate the fact that people think Africa is a country not a continent. However, having said that no it's still a continent, so then no matter where you come from in Africa (continent) you are still performing some form of African dance. I am a dancer and how I describe what form of african dance i am doing, I break it down by the country and or region. In the end, it's still african dance because its on the african continent. Hotep

  • @Bellamora72001 but when you say "African dance" they immediately refer to west african dance. People dont know, thats why im exact on where in africa. I had to in high school fight with kids in my class because they said i didnt look african..cuz they assume africans look alike, dance alike, talk alike, etc. We dont say european dance for irish dancers, so why africa. Thats just my input

  • @markee871 I get what you're saying and you are right from your point of view ( in regards to peoples thinking of the continent) as I am of mine. However, your comment was, "you shouldn't say African Dance" Now that comment I don't agree with because no matter what part of the continent the style of dance come from, it's still African. I think what u mean is you'd prefer people to speak of the region of dance so that group of people could get more credit. and they are getting credit for it.

  • @markee871 now the thing about what happened to u in school. Sweets just look at it for what it is...you had to deal with idiots.

  • @markee871

Don't be so set on separating Africans and highlighting differences. Africans are very similar across cultures and there is nothing wrong with this.

  • sexy mama

  • wtf it aint beautiful white ppl are there man fuck this shit

  • woman a been in america too damn long. you lose your soul. next thing you know, you're dancing in snowy colorado, teaching white snakes and hiring homosexual backup dancers. go back to africa, woman.

  • @ForeverUnity, Thank You!!!

  • love this

  • yo what the fuck. god bless

  • thank you, wyoma - what an inspiring video! my body responded immediately - I finished watching the dance presentation, went to my session room , put on one of my drumming cds and DANCED ... it was as if the body cells had waited for years to move that way again ... and for the first time, consciously, my hips introduced the circular movement on one foot ... it is simply contageous and I want to invite Wyoma to come to Vienna/Austria and teach us here! lots of love and laughter, Anita Calzadilla

  • AWESOME!! BEAUTIFUL !!

  • Beautiful! And what a healing smile. It makes me just happy to see Wyoma dancing in the flow.

  • Nice been looking for something like this. What you think about you bring about huh?

  • ohh yeeeehhh

  • If I could dance like these folk I'm sure I'd be a happier person. Unfortunately I can't dance a single step. I think a guy has to be born with it; either you got "it" or you don't.

  • so not true. everybody can move. believe in yourself!!!

  • @ForeverUnity maybe everybody can move;, doesn't mean u have natural rythmn;

  • @ForeverUnity some just do it naturally

  • @ForeverUnity I agree!

I must comment on "If you can walk- you can dance" from the video. Even if you can't walk you can dance. Even if you can't move you can visualize yourself dancing.

  • Yes this is a reconnecting spiritual medium that can be used to enhance family and community life. Please understand religion has nothing to do with what is said it is more to do with what is done. What is said can be changed but what is done well you cannot make water go up hill or close the wounds you have opened. Healing is so universal and good for people this can be shared by all. Peace and love

  • excellent...thank you

  • excellent...thank you

  • Good preview - definitely got my interest. I just put this DVD on hold at the library! :)

  • Wow Wyoma looks stunning. Loved all the content on this video.

  • Great explanation of the roots of african dance moves. This can be such a beautiful way to express true worship to God for his creation.

  • this looks so interesting :)

  • Wow, she's great..love the dance instrustion..very good!!

  • Thank you
