I am sure your sister is an eloquent writer and a fairly diligent researcher, but her findings directly contradict the research of Solzhenitsyn. Stalin knew that without industial infrastructure Russia will be either destroyed or dismembered. If you look carefully into numbers, descisions you can see that USSR was preparing for war on it's territory. Stalin prepared USSR for invasion and there was no time for sentiments.

@NaMgKCa gulags and concentration camps were a normal thing back then. look at the eisenhower death camps. the allies were enslaving their own germans until 1955. so the allies did just as much as anyone else. even further back labour camps were common in ww1 and previous wars. in the medieval ages adultery and heresy was deemed to be evil and was killed by burning or decapitation while today it is not even illegal in most countries but medieval people would think we should kill such people.

dno what to say, after studying russian history it seems virtually every leader was a ruthless dictator who killed many of his own people yet were great leaders in the sense that they made their country better off in some regards.
if u judge stalins personality he was a monster, murderer and whatnot and a truely evil man, but as a russian leader he was just like the others like peter the great or brushchev and made his country a lot stronger.

Every day I look back on this great man for personal inspiration. He came from a life of poverty, yet rose to create and lead one of the most powerful nations on earth. He was a patriot and a hero who saved his people from the Nazi menace.
Take a moment to reflect on this. No matter who you are or where you come from, you are capable of achieving great things in life. Rest in peace friend.

Thanks mainly to Stalin was that the USSR became one of the only 2 world Super Powers of the era together with the USA. The massive programs of industrialization, academic and physical education, housing, health, and soviet women´s rights/inclusion in the life of society and of the nation, all under Stalin put the USSR in the Big League.
