  • I remember i think i was in preeschool my mom had a daycare so a group of us were coloring an all of a sudden it hit and i didnt know what was going on im still afraid of it happening again

  • The teacher's way of saying" I don't get paid enough for this shit".

  • I was in Olympia holding onto a doorway, watching the street outside roll like swells on the ocean. I thought the building was going to come down. Couldn't believe what that ground looked like during the quake.

  • I remember that earthquake... my dad was working in downtown Seattle at the time and we had to evacuate my elementary school when that happened... AND MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS IN BC!!!

  • i remember walking down royal broughm way in seattle when this happend i held on to a link fence haha

  • I was in Tacoma when it happened. Our water heater fell over, and yes, it WAS tethered to the wall. It would have been far worse if it hadn't been. Luckily it didn't last very long. I was holding onto a door jamb, but my (very ill) father was sitting in his arm chair. I couldn't get to him, cos things kept tilting. But, he was OK. No thanks to me, though. (Of course our insurance refused to pay for a new water heater, so we had to 'eat' that bill. No other damage, TG.

  • i was 3

  • @sweetluv322 I was in first grade too. Haha

  • @ferretsrock223 Me too!

  • Lmao don't they know that they should hide under tables and desks instead of run and just stand there, like where the fuck would they go the entire ground is shaking. I was 6 or 7 when this happened and in class and we hid under desks and that teacher couldn't? WOW! Lol memories.

  • I was seven when this earthquake happened (first grade)...it was pretty scary. i remember i was in math class, and then the next minute half the kids in the class were crying under the desks. it was crazy...

We had a whole bunch of cracks in our house, too. We had just bought it a year ago (newly built), and there were cracks in almost every corner. We had to fill them in, and then paint over it. You can still tell where the cracks were even now (10 years later).

    crazy stuff..

  • Gotta hand it to our best-and-brightest postal workers. Does somebody actually whine "What are we supposed to DO?"?! And then some unaffected water cooler banter, *amazing*! Just think about that the next time you're buying stamps. And, the teacher (yes, the person who uploaded this gem) bolting....priceless.

    LOVE IT!

  • who's the firts leaving the classroom!? XD DRAMAA

  • my class didnt shake that much but it was sure as hell noticeable.

  • I can almost hear her saying, "Fuck this! I'm out of here!"

  • that was a fun day i was in the top floor of a brick school that had previously collapsed in 40years earlier in a large earthquake it was swaying what felt like 3ft in every direction in west seattle good fun

  • I am from Tacoma, and was in class during this earthquake and my teach was under the piano screaming for dear life and cursing it was a epic quake

  • correct me if i am wrong ,but are'nt you supposed to get under the desks?

  • @zelda75231 yes thats corre correct not sure why no one did it though

  • sfe cuzzon my name is max bonehole add me on fb plz

  • haha the teacher just ditches the class, "Fuck you guys, i am getting the hell out of here!"

  • My dad is a teacher, and I don't think you're supposed to abandon your students in an emergency. FAIL.

  • Haha, isn't the teacher meant to guide everybody out? apparently not!

  • Hide yo Kids Hide yo husbands they shaken everybody out 'ere

  • Drop cover and hold people!

  • You see at my school weve been trained since kindergarten to GET UNDER OUR DESKS. Does that happen? No. What happens? The kids (and teachers) panic and run! Most of the kids start jumping the fences and running home.

  • "TOTAL BITCH" She Actually Ran. Wow That Was A Serious Fuck You All, My Ass Is Gone LOL.

  • HAVE U EVER HEARD OF "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND" SERIOUSLY

  • i was in north bend and i tried to walk and get out of the house but i had trouble merely taking steps it was shaking so extreme- like being drunk on rubber legs- the house was creaking and for a few seconds i thought it was coming down- now we have to wait for the 1 in 3 chance for megaquake 8.8-9.2 in the next 50 years- great!

  • this video reminds about the 8.8 earthquake in Chile, that was a heck of an quake, it almost made me shit my pants, I will never forget that nightmare. Don't you hate them?

  • Isn't there a rule that the teacher is supposed to go down with the classroom?

  • @guy4h20 is the captain sinking with his boat, nothing about teachers yet lol..

  • i know it looks fucked up but thats pretty much how ppl react.

  • shes like George Costanza in that one episode of Seinfeld....u no which one

  • I was in Portland, Oregon when that happened and I felt some of the movement!

  • she takes off and the rest of the fucking idiots just look around lmao!!!!

  • LOL, the teacher just takes off. I guess it was every man for himself.

  • lmao evry 1 stay in ur seat...be calm...*WHILE I RUN 4 SAFETY!!!!*

  • there was jus an earthquake like at 4:04 a.m. n rite b4 it started to shake i woke upp scary=/

  • Stupid fuckin selfish bitch teacher lol

  • Ya I remember a quake when I was in like grade 4/5. The cabients start to shake and the glass was like vibrating. luckily no damage

  • duck retards!

  • I was living in Tsawwassen, British Columbia at the time and we got it good. I was in school when it happened. First we felt the shaking and sat there quiet like ignorant idiots. Fifteen seconds later, my best friend's soda is on my lap and the principal comes on and orders everyone to hide underneath the tiny desks that a pug couldn't fit under. Such a great day lol.

  • i still get goosebumps 9 years later...i was at school on the 2nd floor..it felt so surreal

  • @mtvernonguy22 it happened today (2/28) 9 years ago

  • Isnt the captain supposed to go down with his/her ship lol , shame on you haha.

  • oooooo everything shakes :O

  • You left your students behind....hmmmm

  • Every student for themselves

  • damn that teacher bolted out of there as if there was free cheese burgers at Mcdonalds

  • LOL!

  • @rosuna78 hahahahahahahaha

  • Actually I attended a disaster preparedness meeting where geologists from California, Oregon, and Washington spoke for hours about the effects the Cascadia Fault would have on the Pacific Northwest. I haven't watched the 2012 movie.

  • I live in Los Angeles California. I remember we had a quake (6.8) in 1994 and it last close to 30 seconds. It was very scary moment when i was 11 years old. Also, we do have other major quake in San Juanito (almost 1 and half hour east from Los Angeles) in Oct of 1999 (7.0 around 230am in the morning). It didnt rattle very strong enough and i felt like 5.0 when it rattle. When i watch news and they say it was 7.0. I was like "HELL NO". It was scare when quake hit while we asleep.

  • do woo speek an english?

  • The teacher did a Cartman, "F*ck you guys, I'm going home!"

  • they seem real calm

  • she could of atleast told them to get under the desk or door jam

  • we actually have pretty frequent earthquake drills in the northwest since we are surrounded by volcanos and just above california. but honestly i guess these people are just being stupid haha...

  • The teacher leaving the class is the best part. She's like "I don't know about you but I'm leaving."

    LMFAO!

  • Neat. Thx.

  • that peacher didn't give a hoot about her students.

she just ran out without a word.

  • omg we do have earthquake drills in washington guys gosh it must of been the school who did not do earth quake drills

  • Yes we do have earthquake drills here in washington state.

  • These people are only asking to get hurt. I guess they don't have earthquake drills in washington state.

  • that would be silly, as we live on one of the bigger fault areas in the states (besides the san andres)

every building in the state is made to withstand massive earthquakes (like the space needle being equally below ground as it is above ground)

anywho. We know earthquakes, either these people are dumb, or not too phased. It started off slow, I think the heavy earthquake was post-video, and I would hope they got under the tables then.

  • When the Cascadia fault shifts it will release around a 9.1 quake destroying Portland Oregon and Most of Seattle Washington causing damage as far as southern Oregon to British Columbia. "The ground will move like waves of water as it liquifies." Geologist are saying.

  • yep. And the crappy fill that seattle is built on with literally eat the city. YAY!

  • @w00tT3hNinj4 Don't forget the Lahar that is Western Washington where if Mt. Rainer decides to start being a bitch, the entire puget sound region is screwed.

  • @VideoEnthusiast1 we do but these people must've missed the class

  • Hello There!

We just had an Earthquake here this morning around 5:20ish and I live 45 miles Northwest of Seattle Washington and It shook our house pretty good a few times! and 8 Years ago I was in that Earthquake as I was in Everett that day!!!!!

  • I was so disappointed: I slept through it! Waaaaaaah!

  • @Starangelica I remember that quake... it wasn't that bad, I also remember the 2001 quake, I remember that well because I live about 10 miles from the epicenter, I was 13 when that happened. So far, I've lived in Washington for about 17 years now, I've been through 3 Earthquakes. 2 out of 3 of them were no greater than 3.0 on the Richter scale

  • We just had a much smaller 4.5 quake again this morning. The one in this video was one of the longest and biggest quakes to hit the us in 12 years 6.8. Seattle is due for what scientists say could be one of the largest quakes to hit the modern world. 9.0 or greater. There is geological evidence they have occurred in the Seattle area many times . I was here and this one was strong causing a chunk of mt si(a rocky mountain) to come down and walls to crack .

  • The students are lookin at her like, "Where the Hell's that bitch goin!? We paid money for this class!"

  • lol the teacher ran out... lol

  • what a worthless chicken-shit teacher. She should have been fired for doing that.

  • For all you know, she was holding the door.

  • LMAO ...the teacher ran and left her class!

  • HAHA yeah was vising my grandpa there when this happened and i fell down the stairs...

  • When i was 8 i was out in the street in the middle of that and the street was literly going up and down!

  • lol i was in that well my mom was at work on the 27th floor XD i was at school

  • Notice the teacher she's like fuck this shit i'm outta here.

  • LOL

  • HAHA so true

  • uhhh duck and cover you fuckibg idiots : )

  • i was in bellingham during this and i barley felt it

  • yea, i live in portland, it felt small down here

  • Corvallis here, not really noticeablejust ripples in my water glass. it was like a Jurassic park moment. XD

  • haha, yea i think it was like, a 4 here, still, if you aren't sitting down, you wouldn't have noticed

  • We felt this one pretty good down here in Portland that day.

It was like 6.8 on the richter scale, but it lasted for a LONG time.

I've been in a couple before in Calif that usually last about 5-10 seconds, but this one lasted more like 45 seconds. Amazingly, only one person was killed and it was a stress-induced heart attack.

  • 6.1 on the richter scale and yes 45 seconds was a long time, I remember this well, biggest I've been through, the other one which was a couple years earlier was a 2.4

  • Actually, the Nisqually quake in Feb 2001 was registered by the USGS as a 6.8 on the richter scale, but yeah, usually they only last mere seconds, and unless the depth is very low, anything under 3 is hardly felt.

Seattle was lucky that day because it hit I remember around 10:45am--just before most would go to lunch and most were already at work or still asleep for those that work nights. The old part of the city was destroyed though and the capitol bldg in Olympia was damaged that day too..

  • 6.8? really, I need to do more research on this event. Yeah, they took a LONG time repairing the capital building in OLY. It did feel like a strong quake.

  • Hmm, I just tried replying to this and evidently, something went array so I'll try it again.

Yes, according to the USGS website, it was 6.8 which is "major" by even L.A. or S.F. standards.

Seattle was fortunate that it was so far deep in the earth ( about 12 miles ). Imagine how it would have been if it were just half that deep--downtown Seattle would have been leveled and we would have had substantial damage here in Portland. We just had things like broken dishes, cracks in walls, etc.

  • I know it would have been a catastrophe. Luckily it was deep.

  • I live in Salem, and was home on break from colege (i live just down the street from it). I started to feel a swaying, and thought it was just my freind walking up and down the hall way. I then noticed the hanging plants were swaying. I was like "no way is that an earthquake" just then the news came on. lol

  • this was one i was in Im in California and i felt the 5.4 and when i was 6 i was in this one

  • I don't blame the teacher for running. I live in Louisiana so I don't much about earthquakes..

Except you don't STAND and act like you're confused about what's happening. I mean, seriously, what else could it be? Especially that one chick, looking around trying to figure out what's going on.

I may move to Cali one day. Hopefully I'll have enough sense to not look like a total jackass like these people.

  • it's less that she was trying to figure out what it was an dmore that she was trying to figure out what she was supposed to do. it's one thing to know what to do, and it's another to be able to do it when all of a sudden you're in an earthquake in a strange building.

  • Yeah i was in 8th grade when it happened. We all were in classroom when the ground started to rattle like someone would using the jackhummer til the ground started to shake n rolling like if your on boat under the bad storm. It was very interesting event.

  • Oh yeah I've also been to Northridge quake too and that one was like almost several times much worse than seattle one even tho it was only 6.7 magitude! All I remember was the ground started to rattle like MAD n then the ground 'bounced' only once but was pretty hard then shaking that became lighter for the next few seconds. CRAZY.

  • Dam how many seconds was that earthquake? i just experienced my first one 5.8 southern california!!! california is under an major fauly line..

  • This one was about 45 seconds in duration. It lasted a long-ass time I remember and even down here in Portland ( 170 miles south ) we felt it pretty good.

  • one in seattle was 6.8, and that quake lasts for almost a minute but mostly 45 seconds. And the one in Northridge, 6.7 that last only for at least 10 seconds, include heavy rattle, bounced, and then subsided, that it.

  • Good Times! I was in 8th grade at Stahl JR. High in Puyallup.

  • I was actually in Olympia at the time. I just remember a small group of us trying to hang onto each other in the doorway of a classroom, and almost falling down.

  • LOL ,what a coward!

  • i guess a teacher is supposed to tell everybody to stay calm, not to run away!

  • Dude my dad was in that He was working and then that Earthcuake happened me I Was at home and screaming my head off running out of the house I had nothing to hide under and I Was scared if the sealing was going to fall on me and my brother was asleep through the holl thing

  • lol i remember this.

here in vancouver, i was in grade 4 and everyone want under their desk and i was like "Wtf."

i dint even feel anything,, it was SO weird!

  • well i live in ca so yaaaaaaa

  • wow, aren't you supposed to get under your desk, that's what I had to do when this happened, those people are dumb and stood up in the middle of the earthquake, I wish a ceiling tile had hit someone in the head for being so stupid:-)

  • lol

  • Get under SOMETHING!!! Least of all you should do is run. My God, so that's what stupid people look like it areas that don't normally have earthquakes. I live in L.A., so I'm very stupid, indeed.

  • I live in Seattle and I can assure you we're taught to duck and cover, not run outside. I've seen plenty of stupid California people running out of buildings. There's a video of a college class during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and people were running out the door and nearly got hit by a light fixture.

  • Oh, like I said, I'm just as stupid as these people sometimes. In times like these, your brain just stops working for a moment and you have one objective in mind...GET ME THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!!

  • But if you are in a tall building, not just a house, even duck and covering isn't gonna save you if the building collapses. I'd rather get the hell out and take my chances with the light fixture.

  • Correct. Bracing yourself in a doorway if you can is the safest bet.

  • If you cant. a closet, or hallway (someplace where the walls are close together) is your second best bet. the closer the walls are, the more supported the roof is.

  • aren't you suppose to DROP!! ?

  • drop and roll lol i'm just kidding =D

  • yea i lived about 10 miles away in tacoma wa from the main point! It was crazy! The ground had like waves on the surface and shitt!!! i was like FUCK ALL THATT SHITTT!!lol

  • too bad the epicenter was acctually in olympia... so i think you were more than 10 miles away. It was an amazing feeling though

  • bitch done took off and left the kids.

  • Oh shit! I remember this quake! I lived in Salem Oregon at the time (Portland now) and felt it all the way down there. I was on break from college, and sitting at my parents house, when i started getting qeezy for (at the time) apparently no reason. Then i noticed all the hanging plants were swaying. I was like "Are we having an earthquake?"

  • I was in fifth grade at the time. I was at home and the house started to make cracking noises and the ground began rolling.

  • shit I remmenber that so well I was in second grade when this happened

  • I love it how the teacher ran and left the students behind...

  • is this vancouver canada?

  • seattle, washington

  • I remember this one, I was in class while this happened. Scared the F out of me.

  • Interesting footage. Thanks for taking the time to upload and share it.

  • shit...
