Mercedes and Ferrari among others do experiment with prototypes. Also a british Company called crayford were converting unusual cars into station wagons and convertibles in the 70s. i dare say someone else does it now. We had an S class Mercedes Benz estate by Crayford. In the 80s the Skoda 130 coupe was available as a cabrio. It was a conversion but the chassis had a lot of work to cater for it.
