  • "What is this off of, your calculator?"

    Yes, with room to spare.

  • how the fuck have they fit this into 64kb????

  • Don't forget it's old... It's over 10 years old!

  • BRA!

  • :O

  • 64 k-FUCKING-bytes.

  • @kavoom1 Maybe you can generate textures with some kind of algorithm

  • @kavoom1 Is this C++ on 64kb? I dont think so

  • A partir de 5:17 es SUBLIME

  • First I was like, cool, an oldschool demo (new old - C64 is real oldschool for me), looks good. Then I saw "64kb" and fell off the chair, trying to collect my jaw off the floor. The current generation of professional coders has a lot to learn from these guys.

  • @squigglycircle dont forget that this use multiple technique to fit it all. most things are procedurally generated so they dont need to be ¨stored¨. While this is VERY (I mean VERY) impressing, this would not be practical for games.

  • @squigglycircle So have you played 96 KB 3D FPS game already? It has 3 levels.

  • Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome

for more than 5 years I've been trying to find this great "Product"

  • @kavoom1 Maybe I chose the wrong words, sure i know how it's done. But hey, I'm more into oldschool demo coding so I'm not the right person to comment, gotta remember that in the future. :-)

  • Sick stuff

  • @kavoom1 First: not question of 1Gb but 1.9Gb.

    Second: download the file here:

    ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/demos/groups/farb-rausch/fr08_final.zip

Not question of god or jesus, It's just question of code.

  • @kavoom1 Wtf are you the moderator of this movie or something? Do you need to reply on every comment?

  • @kavoom1 I still have the mp3 :D

  • @Intosia me too ;)

  • Man this was the demo i saw :D I remember they release a music extractor, so you could extract the music out of the exe :)

  • Absolutely wonderful, my all time favorite!!!

  • Best ever!

  • maaaan... this is one of the first demos I watched.

  • maaaan... this is one of the first demos I watched. My dad showed it to us. I was quite impressed, but when it got to the end scroller which said that the 64K .exe file somehow contained 2 GB worth of data... that's when my interest in the demoscene really started.

I tried fruitlessly to hunt down this demo, having never known its name. Until one day I looked at pouet . net's "top ten" list... and one of the demos within looked oddly familiar... and after a few minutes I thought, "Gotcha."

  • @JudgeDeadd wow... 2GB in 64k these guys are AWESOME

  • The video rocks, but most of all i like the music. The composer had done awsm. I wonder if he has any other good tracks? If you knew any feel free to wright me :)

  • This really is one of my all time favourite intros!

  • Best 64K demo ever!

  • Only 64k. Love the music !

  • I have all the Farbraush videos and demo's from FR-00 until FR-70. They will make until; well until they are bored I guess :)

  • tuneled music is.... well it makes my day

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • .fr08 .the .product .rocks .:)

I've been watching this intro for like 6 years now.. and I keep doing that... I agree - "The best 64K intro ever!!!"

    Go Farbrausch!!!

  • beautiful...just beautiful. 5.18 I agree.......

  • the treble at 5.18 is the best part.

  • Don't forget that the second part of the video is random; recording a video only helps people who can not run the executable; but running the program locally really improoves the experience !!!

    - you get the highest possible (uncomrpessed, loss-less) quality (compression really damages the video)

    - you gain quality depending on your hardware

    - you only get benefit of the full spirit of the dev team when you can observe each small detail

  • Took me months, and dozens views before I could see, check, and verify that the second part is random.

Do not stuck to this video. Grab the program, and run it by yourself.

  • yeah i have trouble with BEST settings on FR-041

  • And don't forget, the whole demo is made in 64kb!!!

  • uhm, no, actually it's 63.5k. Where do your 8mb come from?

  • of that demo exists a second one with Better Textures and so on , thats 8mb large

  • wasn't the point of product to generate textures at runtime?

  • @ybbek Fucking textures, how do they work?

  • @rc55 generated by code or/and highly compressed.

  • I remember watching this in 2002 it just blew my mind.

  • freakin cool PRG

  • The best!!!

    Love it!!!

  • The music brings tears to my eyes. So friggin' damn good!

  • Oh.. especially the scene towards the end, where they re-cycle back over all the scenes real quick. That's ****ing amazing, seriously I know it's written in raw assembly but most people have no idea how AMAZING a feat that is. I still can't get over it, these are among the best programmers in the globe...

  • the demo mostly written in c++

  • NO it isnt .theprodukkt or the other name farbrausch made a tool Called .werkkzeug 1 with that software theyre making their demos !!

also u cant see if a programm is written in c++ ! After COnverting the programm it is in machine code With EVERY Programming language will that happen!

Stupid Self-Called Computer "Expert" dont know anything and talking crap !

  • You can find Farbrausch interview where they stated that most of their demos are written in c++. So please, dont talk about what you dont know.

And actually one has the ability to check whether the programm is written exacly in c++/c/delphi by watching import table of the .exe file

And sorry, but there is no such term as "converting programm". What you meant called compiling to machine code.

  • And i want to dissapoint you, but not every programm is translated into machine code. There are such tools as interpretes that execute programs in high-level code. And also there such tools that compile programs into intermediate code (such as MSIL or Java IL) and that then are compiled into machine code/executed by runtime environment.

  • And this demo is called .fr08 .the product, you can check their site

  • @danielc303 It's mostly written in C

  • I know. 64 kilobytes. Watching it still brings a tear to my eye. kb does amazing music too, I absolutely love the elektro-industro breakbeat bit (the pipe scene) it's so damn good. Sensory overload; stimulus overdrive; Farbrausch are GODS. So wish I could come to these parties ='(

  • this is not a human phenomen

  • still crying, when i listen to the track in my car or watch the demo/vid sometimes...

  • Best 64K ever.

  • Best 64K ever?

  • Best 64k ever.

  • Best 64 k ever, I agree

  • Łaa psychodela!

My fav! "Candytron" too. Download this demo and only then see...it's make an impression. I feel like I'm inside ;)

    Kick-ass!

  • still my favorite

  • amazing 64kb, Love it!

  • and i like the 2nd part (after 5 minutes) its amazin'...

  • OMG LOVE THIS!!!!! Good Job and excellent electronic track!!

  • awesome 64kb

  • the best farbrauch's demo!!! ever!!!

    The music is awesome

  • pure art, love it!!

  • Even if the visual of this 64kb intro was really a revolution, I think the music play a crucial role! Good mood and a surprising formant filters during the church part! *Thumb Up*

  • Could really not agree more mate... I listen to this song really, really often. The mood is GREAT! My favourite part is when the synth pops in at 05:17... I dont have words to explain the feelings inside me when I listen to that part. The bass that is along with the synth melody there isnt bad either. FR and Co. really did IT! They made THE song!

  • or just get the v2m plugin to winamp and the music from modland

  • was hat das mit exepacker zutun man

  • I just built a new rig, dual core\geforce 8600gt and the graphics are even more detailed!!!and it's beautifully smooth too...this too is my fav demo. You can "grab" the music using any recorder using the 'what you hear' or 'master' option in windows mixer, just record to wav whilst running, then convert to mp3

  • i love the music, is it available separately ?

  • Go to farbrausch(dot)de, select Productions, then fr-028: Brullwurfel. Start Brullwurfel and select the second track. If you click on the record button you can save the soundtrack as wave file.

  • The best demo ever made...

  • leeeeeeet for 64kB!!

  • what a goddamn masterpiece. Absolutely classical.

  • What a fantastic classic. This will ever be my favorite demo. And the music is the crown of this masterpiece.

A pc without fr08v101.exe isn't worth my attention.

  • I actually have the original 64k exe file for this. The date on the file is 2000 so thats when I must have downloaded it. 8 years old or older and STILL cool. I found the file on an old machine and tube'd it too see if it was already posted. Too bad youtube settings degrade the quality so bad. :(

  • music, graphics, the produkkt! this was the revolution in the demoscene, something that after so many yeas still kicks ass!

  • Lol I just downloaded this as a YouTube videoclip. It´s 17 MB! :D

  • Can you believe that this demo only is 64 kb if downloaded? I mean, that´s amazing

  • Yea, but it's a bit old...

  • Yeah, because the quality of the product is depending on the age of the file.

  • Nice looking but the music is the best. ++

  • beautiful. just beautiful

  • second best demo ever.. Second Reality (by Future Crew) from 1993 still is the best =)

  • The best song ever :)

  • my first demo i saw also.

then i figured: i be programmer once. i am now. :P

  • remember this one from 2000...unbelievable

  • Unbelievable is that it's in 64kB, but it's using lots of dll's and it needs some 100M of RAM for pregenerated data and powerfull CPU + GPU ... Graphics is nothing special for 2000 (except fact that textures are packed/generated).

  • I saw the premiere live at TP00. Was blown away for same reasons im still enjoying it now. It was a milestone, a true masterpiece, still its 64K and used, for the first time, generated calls to the gfx routines and generated samples, it came as a flat 64KB exe, nothing else. THAT hadnt been done before this one, maybe in Kasparov, but i cant remmeber.

  • Kasparov is much larger, but it probably could be "compressed" like that as well.

  • the first and best demo i've ever seen. I just love it!

  • the best ever! *_*

  • my kudos to Farbrausch

  • Dor all of you do not know what it is: It is a (only!) 64 KB Windows executable that creates everything (audio + video) shown in the video.

  • Best soundtrack on a demo ever.

  • An incredible 64Kbytes intro (at it's time, long time now...). The farbrausch revolution began?

  • See it & love it.

Great job @programming, gfx and music

  • i'ts missing at least 5 minutes...

the music is awesome, a great job for 12+ minutes =]
