I was only 2 when this happened. My mom told me we had dropped off my grandmother off to get her hair done and then went to visit my grandfather at work. She said we were at Papa's work when the news came of the radio. My grandfather, an FDR democrat was very upset.

About the time that Niagara Spray Starch commercial was playing is when it happened, by the time it was already over, JFK was gone, they were rushing him to the hospital. My Mom told me she was watching this and giving me a bottle, I was almost three months old when it happened.

With all due respect, 'Fenianand', "AS THE WORLD TURNS" was CBS' most popular daytime "soap opera"- most people found out about Kennedy's assassination while they were watching this episode.

At the time, "AS THE WORLD TURNS" was telecast live; during that half-hour, the cast was NOT informed of what was happening in Dallas, including Walter Cronkite's bulletins. It wasn't until after the episode had ended (although no one outside the CBS Broadcast Center in New York saw the final 10 minutes) that they were told what had happened, and watched the events surrounding the assassination on a TV monitor in the studio. The show did not appear again until Tuesday, November 26th.

No, actually, before 30 minutes had passed, millions of people were going to suddenly feel that the world had stopped turning - they'd be in shock. I remember the feeling so very well, even though I was only 9 years old. And I wasn't watching "As The World Turns" when I heard.
