Simon was rich and famous long before he met Terri. Maybe he did propose to her, but maybe she didn't want to get married or wasn't ready. He doesn't really seem like the type to get married unless he absolutely had to. I really think that he was hurting after she broke it off. He seemed to show more of a heart after it happened, and he publicly stated a few times that it had been very hard for him.

I sing too and my husband is my worst critic---he will state plainly that a song is horrible---no apologies---I get mad sometimes---but that's him and he doesn't mince words---he is very opinionated and I've gotten use to it---though sometimes I tell him to just humour me (about some things, like dinner...just say it's good, not that it could use a bit more spice)----:)

It really hurts to want to please the one you love with food or whatever, and for them to tell you "it could use a bit more spice" just hurts. they think they're just being honest, but they're actually just being mean. They lie about all else, but some of the simple things that it's ok to lie a bit about, they don't get. But, hopefully he makes it up to you in other ways. if not, i believe it is a form of abuse.
