you can really see the influence from Pink Floyd in this album... it really shows how much doing a cover of Dark Side of the Moon really changed their music style, if they ever really had a style to begin :D
I am convinced that this song was sent into space by Wayne Cohen's special rocket ship and then mixed by aliens while they were simulanteously tripping acid and fucking the shit out of each other.
I am anxious to see them live again too. Unfortunately the only time Ive seen them live was at Bonnaroo and the crowd was horrible, not too mention huge (The shitty Police only played for an hour so people came to the Lips who were not fans) but Wayne kept babbling on about the Iraq War for like ten minutes b/w each song. That show sucked but the Lips rock
Summer of 2007. I guess I just did not dig the show but that also is because I was in a bad area to watch it. However, that whole festival was full of artists who were compaining about the War and it is getting old.
I don't know what you're talking about. The Bonnaroo show was incredible. And, I don't understand why you're angry that people who "weren't fans" went to see the lips. Thats how people become fans--they go see them play. I've seen them three times(Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, and Festival Pier), and the Bonnaroo show was the best one.
Well you must have been a lot closer to the stage than I, so from your perspective it probably was a good show. My argument about the "non fans" is that the Police only played for an hour---and people filtered to the Lips stage from the Police show. Many (1000's) of those people would not have been there is the Police played for the normal 2 hours. So I blame the shitty, over rated Police for screwing up my experience of the Lips show.
I was at that show and it was awesome, though Wayne did go on about Iraq for a while. I didn't care though, I had a great time with the crowd. Did you get some bunk doses or something? =op
Right on! I swear it was the closest thing to a religeous experience I've had. It's like the whole crowd are really in tune with the band and it's just a total happening.
you know shelly, people who have never been to a Lips show probably think we're exagerating a bit, but you're right on the money. I literally felt it as a religious experience as well. there were actually people in front of us raising both hands to the sky (and stage) like you see on those televangalist shows. it was just incredible. it was moving.
Good song except the vocal effect ruins it
