  • yes hes great

  • Cambry, this, my friend. Is tear bringing in the best way.

  • jk

  • you're ok i guess

  • Wow ... amazing. I WISH I could be any where near that good!

  • You sir. Just blew my mind.

  • kralj

  • Eu também gostei desta versão!!! Muito fera também!

  • no franz lizst is the best composer ever

  • This is one of my favorite piece. Wonderful perfomance :)

  • Wow, awesome performance.

  • Who are you Cambry? I LOVE YOU! I love the tone that your hands put on the piano, it makes the music very expressive.

  • also your tempo is perfect...not mentioning the hesitations, that's only technique and thus it can be improved with work, and I think the hesitations add to the beauty of this piece at some moments.

  • Cambry I have been around you tube to listen to this piece and I think you are the one who plays it better (better than Lugansky also !), you put so much soul into it, especially in this version, even if there are little mistake, does not matter, makes it even more beautiful. Sometimes the famous pianists play this piece like machines, but you really "sing" it, so thank you. I bought the partition thanks to you, to play it too.

  • @joiesauvage Hear Jung Lin's performance? She has incredible lyrical expression and emotion in her interpretation, and perfect technique. You are right, this is preferable to Lugansky!

  • phew. not the best i've ever heard, but it's pretty good. there are noticeable pauses before the big chords and this is hardest aspect of the piece (nailing the big chords cleanly as well as hitting them on time so that the audience doesn't notice the pauses). good job, but it can be improved.

  • Sorry Cambry, I prefer this one :)

  • This video is better than the response. I don't know why... think he express better in this one...

  • Excelente!!!

  • @TheJerusal3m foei

  • @TheJerusal3m

He is more worthy than you'll ever be.

  • @TheJerusal3m WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM? Just because he is African-American, he cannot play classical music? If you truly care about the "beauty" that is music, you'll know that it has no bounds and has the capacity to captivate and inspire anyone with the compassion and interest-that which you clearly do not have. YOU, are not worthy because YOU do not understand. FUCK OFF.

  • does anyone know where i can get this sheet music??

  • Oh no, what a weak ending chord. Other than that, it's brilliant.

  • some parts sound kind of message but otherwise i love it

  • I really love his prelude op 23 no 5 in g minor. Appreciate if you could listen and provide some comments on my videos. If you like, please subscribe. I love this piece and this guy plays well!!!

  • Vey good

  • you got a half a mil views man thats big time for classical. congrats

  • Good dude! But I think it will be more beautiful if you insist on the firsts right hand's accords but great work!

  • morons morons morons morons morons morons morons ignorants ignorants ignorants ignorants ignorants ignorants ignorants ignorants fucking cunt dork comments. shitty comments. off the beat. horrible playing. technically not even completed.

  • this guy plays it awesome, though lugansky does it too fast...both versions are great played.. Rach music is amazing, is deep loaded with emotion ,but I prefer Art Tatum as my favorite pianist of all time, until now nowbody can´t play tiger rag like he did it....

  • Darlin u are ....pfft...ive not the words.....but awesome......i feel the passion, and stance....but? sorry babe its a tiny flaw................otherwise all good..............remember to keep your mouth closed sweetheart i dont wanna see you catch flies...it would be a waste....ur composure alone is fab! you get a thumbs up

  • That was great man.

  • this piece is awesome! Its great. I could listen to this all day.

  • Excellent job thank you!

  • I support Cambry and all Toyota owners.

  • Well at least he's not some little virgin in his parents basement, moron.

  • To be honest this piece is too hard for

amatuars. This piece is for pro.

so, It is meanless to compare with the

    level of pro.

    GJ!

  • It is absolutely uncivil to post "so and so is better" on any artists clip! Cambry plays this wonderfully in his interpretation - I like it ! Lugansky has his style - more modern and tailored to current tastes, and he also is a wonderful artist - but he is not close to being the best doing Rach moment on you tube

Listen to Rach playing moment 2, Horowitz playing moment 2 & 3, Jung Lin playing moment 4, and Gilels playing moment 5, these clips are all on you tube and they are extraordinary

  • just notes... no rach's intention in this performance and not even one p or FFFF!

  • Give me a break, listen to Lugansky, now thats the best recording of this piece on youtube

  • WOW

  • Don't you love the critics on here - thinking that they can play it better than Cambry? Thus, who's the better pianist?

  • @DSM1G90 off of the top of my head, i can provide two: nikolai lugansky and lazar berman

and unfortunately, critics are allowed to say whatever they want regardless of their abilities, so it doesn't matter if they think they play it better than cambry, but it does matter if they all think it's bad, and it's even worse if they're right.

  • \m/

    Hola

    Amigo

    you are a

    wonder piano

    man, sound with

    a lot of energy waves.

    Good lucky, hasta la vista.

  • "but it does matter..." But really, does it? Cambry doesn't care, he'll still play the way he does...and more power to him. Not his problem.

  • Wonderful - the only bad spot was toward the end as you began to fade ,, but other then that wonderful.

  • so good! :) beautiful!

  • i feel like it should be louder in general and I would prefer more emotion with a loud bang. hold that pedal til the very end and push with your body weight, not your fingers. It's an emotional piece that deserves a great ending.

Maybe opening up that grand piano to bring out more sound? Maybe it was your recorder but the sound should consume the room. I recorded that for my college resume in a room surrounded by wood, wooden walls, wooden floors with a recording system in the several thousands

  • the first part is great

  • only the first part? My fave is from 3:00 to 3:30, but all of it is awesome--this guy is the BEST on youtube...

  • VERY NICE. Thank you for showing us your excellent talent.

  • This is probably still my favourite of all time.

  • (and chars got full) 3:35! WHY?WHAT?WHY? but ?? ..you just ruined the whole song! you tried so hard with the song and completely washed it down the toilet with your careless ending .... :(

  • i must say i like this video more than the newer one. its has more power in it. but still if you dont mind, at 0:43 where the octave-melodies come in, you play the second note of the 2 melodynotes too loud. the first one more and then make your hand lighter with the second. OMG 1:05 its PP! there was NO contrast between FF and PP. you played it all MF. and gosh 1:45 you went faster in CULMINATION! slow down and take time in culminations and 1:56 you must change the mood, more awaiting and calm

  • i think i just hit a talent wall. i learnt piano really fast, but i just hit a wall with this song. i think i realize this is where ppl with real talents excel. my left hand simply cannot press accurately at this speed.

  • it's my right hand that can't keep up... there's a short part in this song where I always miss a few notes...

  • I like this video.

  • this is nice. but some hide melodis in left hands u may to put on...

  • You are a very good pianist and you express with great personality.

    Very good! 5 *

  • very well played. :)

  • awesome

  • Now this is music!!! Beautifully played and flawless performance. Loving it

  • ...still good stuff. Excellent techniques!

  • yeah, this guy is TOTALLY not racist....

  • you sound like an asshole right now.

  • Funny cause his interpretation is standard... so why don't you go get sick and die? Cause it would be totally helpful to all of us if you go hang yourself. Really, go ahead, I'll be there to cut the telephone chord so no one calls 911. Really, like strangle yourself with a piano string, or even better, let it close down on your head a few times. Seriously, no go for it, you're such a big shot, why don't you follow through with your interest in killing yourself. We're all excited for it.

  • Are you envious :D?

  • Comment removed

  • не люблю когда играют с открытым ртом...))

  • I am so sorry for you that you are a rascist!!!! and can t just listen to the beautiful music and just enjoy it

  • Racists are shit. Full shit.

    Good music, beautifly played! 5/5!

  • meleeman90, I agree. And it isn't his first time if you look at his channel comments, someone admonished him about that 2 YEARS ago. He's a jealous idiot who hates to see a black man play a difficult piece.

    This vidoe is phenomenal.

  • Comment removed

  • What is your problem with jeans for playing the piano? That's what most people wear when they practice at home like he seems to be doing here.

  • My problem is, this guy is a dirtbag, ive seen his interviews. Not to mention, although he got the notes down, this interpretation is horrific and I think Sergei turned around in his grave upon hearing this. Listen to Nikolai Lugansky play it.

  • rachmanericoff, No, your problem is that you are just JEALOUS because you WISH you could play this well. WHERE are YOUR videos playing it like Nikolai Lugansky? NOT! Each artists are INDIVIDUALS and have their OWN interpretations in case you haven't noticed, moron. Lugansky can play it his way, and Cambry can play it his OWN way.

  • rachmanericoff, My problem is that you are a douchebag who needs to STFU and don't listen if you don't like his playing. Read the top of my channel because this describes YOU to the letter!

You don't insult people just because you don't like their interpretation, fucktard.

  • Moron.

  • Wow, you sad, sad little person, jealousy is so 1985...

  • There are some things to say positively and negatively,. I think you know that yourself. I have followed your playing over the years. Your Rachmaninov is developing beautifully. I would love hearing your play this same piece in 10 years from now! Keep up the wonderful creation!

  • квукп

  • great pianist!

    congratulations

  • the ff bit sounds exactly the same as the mp bits. but other than that, its awesome :D

  • hey, monsieur, well attempted! but your left hand reminds me of Manny Ramirez in left field - a little scrambly and inelegant. With your powers of technique you could (in a few well spent hours) make it more like Manny at the plate - all smoothness and control. cheers!!!

  • R u left handed??

  • Not my favorite piece ever. However you have amazing technical control over it. good show.

  • rhytmick, bur realy bad dynamic! I can play like that in primavista! I can surgest you to listen it more and then play it! sorry for my bad english!

  • I hope to see your video playing this!!! I liked it.

  • where's the emotion? Why ignore all of the dynamics? I'll admit that it's decent, above average solely because I can't find another recording of this without paying >.>: but it's just too fervent. There's two ways of interpreting this piece, one with a beautiful and smooth left hand in the beginning which carries throughout the piece or a madman key smashing left hand and you of course chose the latter. I have no objections; music is free to be interpreted but I prefer my style of playing =\

  • Excelente!..

  • Wow...

    Amazing!

  • rachmaninoff = best composer ever.

along with chopin and fransisco tarrega (i 'm a guitarrist)

  • @decemberflowerr rachmaninoff and chopin are deffinately the best!!! = )

  • @decemberflowerr what about Beeth Bach and Mozart??? Rachmaninoff is great indeed but he isnt the greatest

  • @decemberflowerr rach is my favourite composer (one of them). I like to say that rather than the best, because there is no BEST only preferences..some like Beethoven and Mozart the best, whereas I hate Classical period music..

  • @decemberflowerr

I`m guitarrist too, and I love Rachmaninoff also! ))))))

  • This guys girlfriend used to be my roomate in Chicago. He is a SOX fan.

  • where can i download this songg

  • good but caption is bothering me

  • He is very good at doing piece after piece. What an amazing repitoire. Sarah says so!

  • perfect

  • this is the reason i became a subscriber two years ago... still love this one. thanks, cambry.

  • real talent.

  • I really like your version, it's not as frenetic, it's like a rachmaninoff floating over the clouds, which we don't hear very often

  • brovo

  • Man, can't you feel that power, love over music, very peaceful nice music we need more of that, the only band that got close to

    feel is "Pearl Jam".

    Very nice i liked it.

  • Very nice, be sure to check out Jorge Luis Prats, his concert november 2nd will be broadcasted live & free of charge at monteverdi (dot) tv

  • nice man

  • very impressive!!!

  • i would pay to hear you perform if you ever came and played with the cleveland orchestra.

  • beautiful clear playing, jonathan :)

  • Рахманинов наш композитор Русские где комменты?!

  • Рахманинов везде популярен.

  • .. and.. what is wrong with it?

  • Here it is -Russian Comment - :)

I am Russian living in US for more the 20 years... and, I have Cambry's version on my 'Favorites' list.

Thank you Cambry and best wishes!

  • im inspired. :)

  • nice

  • Very nice,

That poor old Baldwin piano needs some work, however you were able to make it sound good.

    Brent

  • Very nice performance!! I love Rachmaninoff to pieces he's really a grand composer. :) The recording room you used is not so great, so I'm sure it probably sounds better in another room, but overall it was awesome :)

  • loosen up those wrists! lolz..

  • you are a great pianist, congratulations!...Rachmaninoff is the best composer, his music is fantastic

  • beautiful!!!!

    i loved it

  • I love this piece, however, the recording in this room, sorry to say, was pretty lousy. The listener can't pick up on the nuances of the middle and lower notes well, if at all. Because of this you lose many of the overtones, subtones and chords. Very well played though. I am quite impressed.

  • you did all of this constructive criticism without looking at the video response? or even how old this video is?

  • yes, because that is what this video was. I commented on the video not the response.

  • Excellent well played.I like this piece.

    You play very good!

  • video response idiot

  • video response idiot

  • I agree with all the best comments your received! BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!!!

  • i really love your musicality... most people just learn this piece technically without really following through with great musicality...

    truly touching :)

  • Jonathan, I have to tell you the same as Jeffrey lee: You are a genius!!!

  • of coarse it's a difficult piece, but your interpretation of the music is remarkable; one of the best I've heard. bravo!

  • Look! It is not incredible?

He knows how to play piano!

  • my favorite vid on the net!

  • This is excellent, you truly are the master at the piano. Very impressive.

  • Who the fuck cares how hard it is? What's wrong with you people? It's about the emotion and the pain/happiness/distrust/ whatever you get from it.

Technical skill is like math, it can be learned by anyone. UNLIKE creativity.

  • I listened to some "Moment Musical No. 4".

    This is really best.

  • I almost got the bassline down on the guitar. that alone sounds very powerful . guess i have to get me one of those loopboxes to even try the whole thing

but very nicely done sir, better than most of these 'pro' versions imo

  • I WANNA LEARN IT!!!!

  • you play the piano very good! and that song is one of my favourites! i'd like playing that song. congratulations!!

  • I actually like the fact that your recording isn't super-fast. It allowed you to use more rubato.

  • Thank You! Love the piano.

    Peace

  • cambry, you're amazing!

  • wow this is crazy!! you r soooo good! I'm learning this song right now, but its rlly hard to get it that fast.

  • Omgosh! Wow!

I've never heard this song until now, it sounds hard! But you played it so majestically :D

  • I prefer the interpretation of Lugansky, but this is also great! Good job! I love your videos!

  • Yes you opened up the comments again! To be honest i think this version is superior to response. I love this piece and you do such a great job. 100+ views i keep coming back to see it :D

  • This is one of my favorite videos ever. This song is packed full of powerful emotion and the left hand is on full tilt. Your on your way to becoming a virtuoso. Great job. Keep up the good work.

  • His playing lacks the full sound you can produce in many of the fast downward runs which is a result of the fingers not moving fully at the knuckles. Using the arm and elbow as a fulcrum point to give an even and constant full sound out really helps. It is most evident when he must slow down at points to get the sound he wants out such as the prestissimo passage toward the end.

  • OR you can be more internet savvy and click the video response

  • I love you Piano Playa.

  • I think it's pure madness to compare him with any virtuose. This is an excellent video and interpretation of Rachmaninoff only if we keep in mind that this is an amateur job. Evgenia Rubinova kick ass in the Moments Musicaux; her intrepretation is by FAR better.

  • Better than Lugansky? Are you joking? World class professional against home-bread mediocrity - either you people are completely tone-deaf, or political correctness has really come to that...

P.S. Why is he wearing a hat? Is it cold of something..?

  • man i don't really care if lugansky is an universe super mega hyper professional. He has absolutely FAST MECHANICAL playing.

Jonathan does it expressive and not so fast. Really good for the ear.

  • Much better than Lugansky. Congratulations Jonathan.

  • I AGREE, MUCH BETTER THAN LUGANSKY,

Jonathan you said "view video response" but this one is better than video response, better sound quality, piano and playing...

keep up the good work !!!!!

  • I may be listening in abit late. So I must appologize if I missed something. You'all forgot to say what I have to ..Cambry! Excellent job! You have mastered a piece that is on a par with the most difficult. Dont know what "Wing" is talking about. Nothing in the Moonlight sonata comes close to the difficulty level.

  • emotion is shown by presentation and touch. not by what type of piano!!

  • silly you

  • electrical piano..yeah right..
