  • In a lot of countries it's known as an Auris, just look at the rear lights. :P

The Corolla E12 never had those wide rear lights.

  • It's actually the Toyota Auris rally car but for Australia and South Africa they did not change the name from the Corolla to Auris which is why it says Corolla on the back of it.

Other than those 2 countries though, it is called the Toyota Auris.

  • In Australia, we have not changed the model name to Auris...

The Auris succeeds the Corolla RunX in Japan and the Toyota RunX (no Corolla badging) in South Africa. Toyota Australia and Toyota New Zealand resisted suggestions from Toyota Japan to adopt the new European Auris name for the Corolla.[1]

The name "Auris" is based on the Latin word for "gold",

  • The name Auris is made up of: Avensis and Yaris- as the model Auris fits in the class between the 2 given models.

  • I dont know about that...the info re based on the Latin word for Gold comes from Wiki...

  • @jdisnow

    thats true

  • The other big give away is the COROLLA badge on the hatch door, above the number plate.

  • they appear to have the 2009 chassis

  • I dont know the answer to that....

  • is that one of the old rally engineering development cars?

  • I pretty sure its an S2000.

The S2000 category was developed by the FIA to allow manufacturers to build relatively inexpensive rally cars using a common, controlled formula.

The common elements to S2000 include engines, gearboxes and weight restrictions.

Providing approximately 190kW of power and 240Nm of torque, the engine revs to a high limit of 8500rpm.
