  • Thanks Shego. She's a Haflinger. I had her since she was weaned. She just turned 6 years old and she's been sold to a farm where she will be loved and she will be helping kids learn how to ride and care for horses.

  • what a beautiful mare :P love sunshine :D

  • yea wait til you see me doing that,i've tred it couple o times but i allways have another person as i know you supposedto have one hand on the horses head i tend to let go and work with the head coller withbot hands-thats why i never do it on my own or you wouldnt have any horses as they'dve all run away

  • Maybe you could post a video and I could offer you some help. I'm not clear on what your letting go of? Using this technique correctly, your horse will never have the chance to get away from you.

  • your supposed to have your right hand on the horses head i usally start like that then i let go of their head i work with it(the head collar or halter as you call it )

  • When putting a bridle on you would place your hand over the nose, but when putting a halter on, the first step is to hold onto the halter around their neck, step two is to lower the halter down below their nose; they'll put their nose right into the halter and then you buckle it behind their ears.

  • o right i understand now thanks

  • Excellent! It is really effective! That's really good!
