Making deals with the enemy behind the military's back is nothing new. Henry Kissinger did the same with Le Duc Tho to end the Vietnam war but it was hardly the kind of piece that Le Duc wanted. War raged on in the country for another 3 years only without the Americans to aid the south. Saigon finally fell, got renamed, and the rest is history.

Both races here are making an even bigger mistake. They're throwing away their lives for a future they can never be part of.

lol old times, but to clarify it... *spoiler alert*

the 2 races of the series were on the verge of mutual annihilation from the war, so secretly the high command of the solnoid (via Central Guard) initiated an agreement with the paranoid for an experiment to combine the 2 races biological and genetic material.

this was done outside the knowledge of the main solnoid armed forces, and when the experiment bore fruit the 'Central Guard' decided to take the result for themselves.
