I have the entire series on DVD, and I am watching the episodes in sequence. I'm on the last season, and let me say I am finally enjoying what my boss at the time wouldn't let me enjoy 13 years ago! If you ask me, I think "The Chronicle" should've been the real finale of Seinfeld. I really hate how the series ends with Jerry and the other three in jail just because they weren't the nicest people in the world. It's not like they ever killed anybody, except kinda for George with Susan. To me, Seinfeld is not only the best sitcom ever, but one of the best TV shows in general, but I just don't like the finale.

For me, if Seinfeld cut out the stand up part before the show hit re-runs then it'd be even more respected. I love Jerry's routine but like the audience always seemed like canned laughter. You never saw them, you never saw the looks on their faces or how they felt about him like you do on regular stand-up specials. It didn't have the "stand-up" charm. Something was lost in translation on network television. Notice how when they *did* go straight to story mode the show only lasted 2 seasons?

Yeah. The stand-up could be more dramatic though. They never had an episode where he's being introduced onstage. They never had one where it was right at the end of a really good joke and cuts right into another like "... and then this happened which was too outrageous to explain. You had to be there." Then go into the episode where you find out the first joke for yourself leading into the "this" that happened. It was always so bland and non-Simpsons suburban. Only the last seasons breathed imo.

well they did put his stand up in one of the episodes where elaines b/f is an alcoholic and jerry gives him the wrong drink and gets him back drinkin, and when they show him doin stand up the guy is always there hecklin him until the end where he gets clean and says something to him while he's doin his stand up

You ever notice how...well...natural Seinfeld bloopers are? In other shows, bloopers are so weird, because they all fall "out of character", but that never happens in Seinfeld. You really don't need any suspension of disbelief in this show. It's like a performance instead of a play: that's not the main point.
