Guitarist's bends were off and he had issues actually fretting the note and picking at the same time, but other than that it was pretty awesome as a whole.
this is cool guys - IM a guitar player playing it for my jazz band this year and I figured Id throw down the first half of Terry Kath's actual solo before I rock into some improv - do you think its worth transposing? (my school playing the same key as yall)
Well, the original song is in a totally different key from the arrangement we play. That's pretty much why we all hate it. We play a marching band version that is in an even different key.
Terry Kath's solo is really cool and it would be worth transcribing, however, you will have to transpose it to the key the band it in, and that work will be a little taxing.
yea man we're playing it in Bb too - thus the transposing. But I mean I just learned the solo and decided to play the first half three frets up then Imuh improve with that Pentatonic and the Dorian scale, maybe touch on some Bb minor Harmonic for good flavor. My cousin was the lead singer for this band Chicago so Ive always known the song and I agree this key can suck a dick - but what are ya gonna do?
@Pianomagicdude the begining the trombone part would be fun to pedal my middle school played this last year and we got first in state middle school jazz band
I love this song for jazz band!! Our jazz band played it last year. i am a bass clarinet player but I played tenor sax 2 yrs ago in jazz because only a few fingerings are different and now I am playing the also in jazz. I will record us playing and post it.=] YALL SOUND GREAT!!!!!=]
I am in seventh grade and our band it's only 2 trombones 1 piccolo 1 trumpet drums 1 keyboard playing the guitar bass and a clarinet that's 8 and we can play it great
This is something we only play for large crowds and events. For competition, we play pieces like Count Bubba, Sammy Nestico's Sweet Georgia Brown, Groove Merchant, Night Flight, Lil' Darlin', Mueva los Huesos, Birk's Works, and In the Mood.
We have since won four national competitions with pieces of music such as those.
We don't even rehearse 25 or 6 to 4. It's nothing special and nothing competition-worthy. It's just a simple and easily recognizable song that we can pull out anytime.
this sounds fantastic! kudos to you band! duly impressed. we play this in my repitoire class, and i love rocking out on the barry sax, great work!

@6246701 It's easy - wrong key - and doesn't show our full capabilities. It's just fun for the audience and fun for us to play. Just my opinion.
