for my hammock, I always chose trees about 11 to 12 feet apart. My tarp is 10 x 8. I hang the hammock from trees that wont give when I lay in it, and put the ridge line from tree to tree. Hanging the hammock fairly taught. (level) I can use it to sleep in or to sit in. The pack saw... I have the same one made by gerber (parent company fiskers). The blade is kinda flimsy but I love it. Use it with cutting pressure on the back stroke to avoid bending or breaking the blade. this lessens the risk
risk of hand slipping down the blade. They are sharp as crap.
